Too tired to chase fences right now.

Every February I torture myself and watch The Day.

We should do that next year.

I have last weeks NASCAR 360s up, just need to pinpoint a day. Should we do it tomorrow early afternoon est so then you can go off to a party a little bit afterwards. Today will be hard since my computer is going to become the TV screen for a football game since Seattle got moved to the afternoon slot bumping Denver and then I'll be doing some other things as well.

e: We can have that part of the new year stream thing that we talked about.

I'm game for anything but Belle Isle.

Responding from the NASCAR thread, I'm continuing my 1993 Indy watch tonight and I'd be happy to make it a Synchtube event, but unfortunately I'm on Belle Isle so it's probably not a huge draw.

Or I'd also be more than willing to skip ahead to the next race, at Portland, if anyone's interested.

Well the 500 and Phoenix I've just watched in the last week or so (Phoenix was a hell of a race though). Michigan is gonna take a little longer than I want to commit to tonight. Cleveland sounds good though. I'll be in the room in a few minutes.

Well, I was hoping to go watch "Driven" with a few goons, rip it to shreads, and then proceed to watch the excellent movie "Le-Mans" as an double feature of the worst auto racing movie, and the best back to back.

but synchtube is down

BTW, this bit of trivia confirms how loving awesome Mario Andretti is.

quote:

Steve McQueen was a car-racing fanatic and owned a Porsche 908. Driving this car during the 12 Hours of Sebring's 1970 edition with professional driver Peter Revson, he finished a close second behind Mario Andretti, who was determined "not to be beaten by a movie star". Andretti was driving a Ferrari 512. McQueen also wanted to be in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but was denied permission by the film's producers. His Porsche eventually did participate, driven by Herbert Linge and Jonathan Williams, with three cameras to get "live" footage for the movie. Despite the spoiled aerodynamics and frequent stops to change film rolls, the car managed to finish ninth. According to a persistent rumor, McQueen may have driven it secretly after all.

drat, now I kind of wish McQueen started a rival team to Newman-Haas within auto racing. We need more guys like those two.

Steve McQueen, Paul Newman and James Garner are three of my favorite actors, but not because I like most of their stuff. All three were rather successful auto racers. I wish actors today were like that, there's a few that race but none on that level....maybe Frankie Muniz will surprise us!

TV Tommy Ivo is my favorite actor turned racer, though.
