I was one of the few Airman with the 6x6 on my Air Force drivers license, thankfully I had a set of David Clarks with noise cancellation. You could still hear that bastard through those, but it took out the worst of the turbine whine.

I'd say the Power Carts we used to run external power for our C-130s were nearly as bad. They had a 4 cylinder two stroke Detroit Diesel, and it was loud as hell, even with ear plugs AND david clarks.
