I've reached out to the mods and gotten permission to post here (http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3450939&userid=15053#post410700042). I'll be posting deals we're running on Digital Games (PC/Mac, Free to Play, Sony/Microsoft Points/Subs). This post will be a work in progress, so please give me your feedback so I can change the OP and help everyone get the most out of it. I'm also here to answer questions you might have, get you closer to the developers by hosting Q&As, setting up podcasts, live streaming gameplay etc. You'll notice this tag on any links I post to Amazon: somethingawfu-20 This is an affiliate tag for Something Awful, it will ensure they get paid a portion of any purchases you make after clicking through from this forum to Amazon.com. Just want to be 100% transparent about this upfront. I'll try to keep the deals in the first post, so here's the current lineup: FYI. EA Games sold by Amazon will not activate on Steam. Deal of the Week Check out these helpful links for our Mayhem! Sale: Here is the best list we have currently for the Steam games in Mayhem! Sale thanks Darrith!: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?p=10743290#post10743290 Here's what I think is the most comprehensive list of games on sale, in chronological order thanks asheskitty!: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/...0#post10743290 Here's a Spreadsheet version too! https://googledrive.com/host/0B2WBzqDyGxSgOEo5b3FSTFhFZms/amazon_deals_mayhem.html F.A.Q.S.: 1. Does the game I'm buying from Amazon Activate on Steam/Origin/Uplay? What DRM does the game use? There are two places to identify DRM on a digital video game detail page: At the top of the page, below the title: In the "Product Description" section: 2. Note on Electronic Arts Games - For the most part, EA games sold on Amazon do not activate on Steam. Most activate on Origin. 3. Note on DRM with limited activations: Our Policy 4. Sometimes I'll do giveaways. For example, I'll follow this post up with 50 Star Craft 2 Beta keys embedded in "url" links so you'll have to quote to see. 5. I work with developers and publishers to get fun (or at least what I think is fun) content to share with you all. Here are some examples: a. Check out the Pax Gameplay videos here: Xcom: Enemy Unknown I played Xcom with Jake, the Creative Director for the game, a few months before the game came out Also, on this page, check out the Q&A, also a community driven event. b. Check out the interview on this page: Borderlands 2 we did this interview at E3 with Randy Pitchford this year. c. We've partnered with the ++GoodGames Podcast to feature many of the games we carry. They talk to the developers about the game development process, how the games are conceptualized and managed, all kinds of fun stuff. I'm working on putting together full link list and will update when I have it. What else do we sell? Xbox Live Points and Subscriptions: 1600 Microsoft Live Points 4000 Microsoft Live Points 12 Month XBOX Live Subscription 3 Month XBOX Live Subscription] 12 Month + 1 XBOX Live Subscription PSN+ Subscriptions and PSN Points: $20 PSN Points $50 PSN Points 12 Month PSN+ Subscription 3 Month PSN+ Subscription We also have a Free-2-Play store supported by our GameConnect technology. Gameconnect allows you to link your Amazon.com account with free-2-play and MMO accounts so that you can buy things like in game currency, premium game time/subscriptions, in game items, etc. on Amazon.com using your Amazon.com payment options and have this content delivered directly into your game. Incarnate Dao posted:Forgive my ignorance, but say I buy Shogun 2 collection and it activates on steam, does that mean it will show up in my Steam library, or will i always have to go through Amazon to redownload? It'll show up in your Steam Library. NOTE on the Sega Total War Collections: If our bundles list out games by line item with links to the individual detail page on Amazon then you will get an individual code or download per game. In the case of the Sega Total War Collections, you will only get one key that activates all those games, if you own some already I think Steam treats it like they normally do and you don't get extras. Again, this is only the case with the total war collections.

Fergus Mac Roich posted:It will be in your Steam library. If you have a Steamworks game and put the key into Steam, it's as though you bought it on Steam itself. This also works with a scant few other games that have retail keys that activate on Steam independently of how they work normally, for instance Dark Messiah. It isn't a scant few. Pretty much everything we carry from 2K, Rockstar, and Paradox has Steam and NonSteam versions. We're working on rolling this out across more publishers too.

KNITS MY FEEDS posted:Welcome! Yep, Good question, adding to OP. Since you asked though here are some general rules of thumb around price matching: 1. We don't match international retailers (GMG, GetGamesGo, GOG, Gamersgate, etc). 2. If we have a deal planned in close proximity to a high profile deal we sometimes won't match, this is done to avoid the person who buys when we price match and emails us enraged when our planned promotion starts the next day.

ankle posted:Sorry if this is something obvious that I've somehow missed, but is there anyway to see how many $5 credits we've accrued? And do all of our credits automatically go towards the first game on the designated list that we purchase? Good question, I will also add to the OP at one point today: 1. There isn't an elegant solution to look at all your credits. Apologies for this but we are working on something in 2013. 2. Think of your credits like individual $5 bank accounts. When you buy something that the credit is good for, it will deduct a maximum of $5 from the credit and leave you with the remaining for your next purchase, otherwise it will consume the entire $5 and then move to the next one. Hypothetical Examples (I say hypothetical because none of these prices are planned for January): In this example you have 3 $5 credits: 1. Hotline Miami is $2.49 - You buy it and have a $5 credit, your $5 credit is now worth $2.49. 2. You then buy Darksiders 2 for $12.49 you will be charged $10 because the remaining $2.49 from the first credit is used. 3. You buy Battlefield 3 for $9.99, you would be charged $4.99 and 1 entire credit would be used. 4. You buy Dark Souls for $9.99, you would be charged $4.99 and 1 entire credit would be used. Hope this explains better.

Peaceful Anarchy posted:This isn't how it worked last year. Last time they would roll over but limit the maximum individual discount at $5. Is there a reason for the change? It means if a game is $4.99 and you use a coupon you have to buy another one at full price(less 1 cent) before using a second coupon. We're both saying the same thing. Did I misrepresent this? EDIT: Sorry I see what you're saying, you're just mistaken regarding the fact that it didn't work this way last year, this is exactly how it functioned, we will just price things that would normally be $4.99 at $5 so the $.01 penny problem doesn't happen again. NOTE: I am 100% confident that this is how it functioned last year because I had to file a trouble ticket that paged 20 people to fix the penny issue.

The whole reason they can afford to give you $30 in credit on purchases like that is because it's for things 99% of people will never buy. Whining about that credit not applying to all games is a pretty fatwallet-ish thing to do. Two points here: 1. We're actively working on this widget, but I agree, the display is not optimal. 2. Regarding the coupon, the percentage of people who used it last year was MUCH higher than the 1% you're suggesting above.
