Can someone recommend a good TV for use in a RV? I just ordered a HDMI cable so I can connect my Galaxy S3 phone to a television, and I'm looking for a TV to connect it to. I was looking at the Coby 15 inch, but the bad reviews are scaring me. The other option I'm looking at is the Viewsonic 16". The only thing I would be using it for is to watch videos on youtube. Which other options do I have? I don't think I want anything bigger than 17~18 inch at the most and I don't want to spend more than $150.

The picture is great, the wifi works great, the remote is pretty neat for being a little bit of a gimmick (basically, like a Wii-mote for your TV), and the smart apps and 3D work well too. I've only had two issues, both pretty minor. I had to look around a bit online and read up on it to figure out the best picture settings (even though honestly, leaving it stock is probably fine for most, I don't notice a huge difference). Also, I had an issue where the power in my neighbor hood kept going on and off, on and off for about 10 minutes while I wasn't home. The TV wasn't damaged, but it erased my Wifi setting so I had to reconfigure that aspect once I was home. Overall, I would highly recommend it, it's a great set.

If you can stretch your budget a little bit, it shouldn't be hard to find a Samsung, LG, Sony, or Vizio 720p 32" TV for under $280. That computer monitor would require a separate ~$150 TV tuner to watch plain cable TV, unless your PC already has a TV tuner with a coax input.

Actually thats one of my concerns, the Panasonic I linked only had 2 HDMI ports which is crazy to me. Its good that it appears to be a good choice, I just wanted to make sure I was getting the most for my money quality wise.

I'm thinking about buying this tv http://www.frys.com/product/7348654 in a few days. Going to be using it for 360/PS3/Bluray and as a main tv for my PC using XBMC. The 3D would hardly be used for anything more than novelty. I was wondering if anybody had any experience with it or info on something similar but better. It comes out to $550 which is perfect for my price range, but if there is something better out there for a comparable price I would prefer that.

I'm looking for a 40-46" 1080p TV, don't care about 3D, smart stuff is optional but cool (willing to get a Roku or something instead though). Mostly HD TV, sports, blu-ray, netflix, Pandora, etc. General usage. I have Sony receiver/bluray player so Sony is a plus, even though my Bravia just died after slightly over 3 years of use so I'm bitter and vengeful toward it. Low energy usage/"green" stuff is a plus. I have a wifi access point right next to it so built-in wifi isn't necessary. I dig the features from the Panasonic linked in the first couple of posts, the TC-P50ST50, but I don't need anything that big. My old one was 40 and that was plenty as I have a small living room, though I'd bump up a bit if I can afford to. Thanks goons!

Otherwise it doesn't seem to have any completely noticeable un-evenness or light bleeding (to my untrained eye) that makes it distracting to the me. - I'm a Silver Premium member of Reward Zone at Best Buy, so I'm going to let this thing burn for 100-200 hours. Then I'm having someone in February come to calibrate it. They apparently do this for free for their Silver Premium members, assuming you bought the TV from them. - I have an old Onkyo receiver that (as I learned) doesn't "pass" 3D. Consider that if you are going with 3D content and it passes through a receiver, that this receiver must "pass" 3D. It's not a huge problem for me, as I'll bypass the receiver whenever I feel it necessary to do 3D content. - I'm not sure if other manufacturers have this feature, but LG does a method of making 2D content into 3D. We watched a 2D home improvement show on HGTV the other night in 3D... for about 5 minutes. That was enough of that. But if you are into the whole 3D thing, this might be of interest to you. - 3D, 1080p, 55", LG IPS LED screen, 120 Hz for $800? Really?! No really. Have you looked at what the competition (Sony, Samsung, Panasonic) is charging for those specs (~$1300-2000). I feel like we did pretty well. Got my Samsung 60" ES8000 Today. Black Ops 2 in full 1080p is loving magnificent. I haven't hung it or calibrated it yet but so far it looks amazing and the apps seem to work well enough so far. I haven't even scratched the surface with it yet but so far it is an amazing TV. Speaking of surface scratching, kitty took one swipe at the screen before he was quickly tossed out of and banned from the TV room until it gets hung.

So my mom has an 8 year old DLP tv that just died. We're going to replace it with a new one, but the catch is that it has to fit tightly inside the enclosure that was built for the old one. The enclosure is 68wx41h, which means that 70in is probably the only size that fits. Do you guys have any recommendations for a 70 inch tv?

I'm looking to not spend more than $700 but if I have to go higher I suppose I can. Basically just looking for at least a 46 inch TV. I'd like a Smart TV but it's kind of negligible. I ended up getting a good deal on an open box Samsung PNE7000FF (60" Plasma) My old GM from Best Buy gave it to me for 1299. My TV guru said that was an amazing deal, so I swallowed the extra cost and pulled the trigger.

I just got this TV from Best Buy: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Sharp+-...CFQ0GnQodQhUA8g I was able to get it for about $4,000 (plus tax) by getting them to price match BuySquad.com. I actually had to go to a couple different Best Buys before I found a manager willing to match that price. It seems their "official" policy on price matching is only to match local retailers price or Amazon's, if anyone else wants to buy from them don't be afraid to visit a couple different stores if one store isn't playing ball. I didn't get the GeekSquad warranty, is it even worth considering? They also tried to sell me a $300 set of HDMI cables because they were silver lined and supposedly cheaper ones will look crappy on an 80" TV. They also said the cheaper ones don't support 120hz or 240hz. I'm assuming that's total bullshit and the $2 to $5 ones you can get at Monoprice will work just fine, is that correct? So I have a Samsung 8000 series plasma that I purchased December 2011, I ran a break-in DVD for the first 80 or so hours and have had pixel shift enabled while watching everything in full screen for the past 3-400 hours. Over Christmas, my dad came and stayed with me. He watched a lot of news over those 3 weeks, and now I can see the outline of the ticker box as well as the logo box. Nothing noticed within, and it doesn't distort anything within them, however when watching hockey the 2 giant darker boxes on the bottom of the screen are very much noticeable. Now, it seems to have gotten a BIT better over the past few weeks, thanks to running movies fullscreen overnight etc, though that could just be my mind playing tricks on me. Is this consistent with burn in or retention? I've read that some retention can take a month of 2 to get rid of, but have no first hand knowledge. Any ideas on how to expedite the process?

So, update on my dead TV from above. Old one was a Sony Bravia 40", three years old, up and died and Sony no longer manufactures the main board for it so it's kaput. They offered me a recertified version of the same model for $329 including tax and shipping. I have the option of getting a new 42" Bravia for $588 from Amazon after tax, or finding another brand, or whatever. Plus then buying a Roku - but that might be a better option than continuing to use smart TV features anyway. Any thoughts on recertified/refurbished Sony stuff vs new? And Sony vs other brands?

In looking at current HDTVs, I'm pretty horrified with how limited the inputs/outputs are compared to my 2005 Panasonic plasma. Granted the market is extremely price competitive, so maybe they don't feel as inclined to put a complete set of inputs/outputs on a $600 TV as they did on a $2000-3000 TV. But the following things are missing on most new models: Should have at least two component inputs, many only have one S-video input Composite video input that is independent from either component input Composite Video Out Analog Audio Out I know someone will tell me to stop using my array of lovely 1980s accessories with a 21st-century display, but I'd still like to be able to if the need arises.

They just keep reducing the number of inputs on televisions to bring the costs down, you're eventually just going to have to bite the bullet and get a receiver. I was a hold out until like 2 years ago like you but I finally gave up. It simplifies everything to be honest, I wish I had done it long ago.
