Will people even buy TF2 items with paypal anymore now that the Steam marketplace exists? I mean, steam games are fine and all, but when I want to get rid of items I'd kind of like to do so in a way that could help me eat or make insurance payments. The Kins posted:You know what, I'm just gonna say it. On the backpack expander note, the one I bought for 99c and listed on outpost already sold for a key. So it's possible, anyway. Having said that, keys on the market are way down to like $2 from a previous perch of $2.40ish.

This would all hold more weight if the person you're talking to wasn't a huge TF2 trader who $60 of expanders probably isn't much of an expenditure given what all they actually own and could actually use the things for alts to hold more items to move, anyways.

Pallet of crates are pretty drat amazing. Not only do you get a chance of getting a salvaged crate but also a chance of getting another robocrate. I've made enough money to buy robokeys by just idling in trade servers and selling all the extra robocrates I've gotten ![]() We should all hold a pallet of crate party

Also a Gridiron Guardian, but 3 out of 4 hats being decent ain't bad in my book. My manns have some shiny new robohats

So, are robocrates worth the gamble of buying a key? Also, are salvaged crates (40/50) worth opening?

Xander77 posted:So, are robocrates worth the gamble of buying a key? It depends on if you think the items in the crate are neat enough to warrant it. There's a lot of them, so even if it's something you don't want to use chances are you'll be able to trade it for something else from the Robocrates. Also, Salvaged Crates are kind of a gamble since some items in them are worth more than others, while the crate itself generally stays around the same price.

Welp, I did it. I went into a Turbine server, went Gunslinger engineer, and immediately proceeded to ruin the fun on the server, because 2 other engineers saw the mini and decided they too would get in on the fun. We ended up dominating Turbine mid with 3 mini-engineers while our team tried to push into their sentry-infested intel room (they had 5 engineers apparently One guy on the other team started going on (on alltalk) about how minis should be banned from the server, and some of his teammates agreed, while I goaded them on. They tried everything, from immediately switching to a heavy-medic combo, stacking soldiers and demomen (at least we did some good here), stacking pyros, and even calling for a scramble. It didn't help that they spent the whole time trying to organize their strategies through all-talk, so we kinda expected all their rushes. I mean come on, they built one uber, failed to rush on that uber (ubering the heavy no doubt), and immediately gave up trying to push with a medic. It was the most

One of the most dickish but hilarious things you do on Turbine is put a sentry next to the spawn door leading out to mid and constantly change it's location, around those doors. You'll constantly have people trying to peek a boo a sentry that's not there anymore and get shot in the back. Still, I'm amazed that you manage to lock it down that well. Though I'm really not surprised to see Turbine devolve into Engineer wars:

(With a couple weapon reskins thrown in that are nice, I think - such as sandvich.) From what I understand, the robo-crate key money goes directly and collectively towards the community members who created those items. You support the TF2 community when you buy them. So really, rather than "is this key worth the gamble" you should be asking yourself "how much fun-money do I want to budget to spend getting some random neat items and helping the TF2 community?" You will get some hats/miscs that you can use or trade away, and the TF2 community members who made the items get some money from the keys. It's win-win. Speaking of Backpack Expanders and speculation, I have to admit that I did buy six of them and have them sitting around just in case. It's a win-win situation for me whether or not they go up in price and I profit off of them via Steam money or items. Worst case scenario, I could always use extra bag slots, and $5 was always pushing it, but at $1 I have no problem. I have one page of inventory dedicated for each class, except for Soldier who gets two because I have way too many Soldier items. Both Demoman and Pyro are reaching Soldier amounts of items for me as well, so the expanders will definitely help out with my item organization.

Yeah, people really need to remember that there's no crate combo multiplier or whatever going on for this stuff. There's a small chance to get an unusual and that's going to stay static no matter what. Saying 'I opened X crates and didn't get anything!' basically means nothing from a mathematical standpoint.
