I was pleasantly surprised when I accidentally equipped my voodoo-cursed Pyro soul along with my Filamental last night:

Well I finally acquired my first unusual a couple of days ago - a Stainless Pot with Haunted Ghosts effect. It's not a Tyrant's Helm but I'm proud to be a member of the ghost gang nonetheless. With that said, I wish I had bought a Medic unusual now, since it always falls on me to play medic on my favorite servers ![]()

The Electronaut posted:Cheater's Lament + Googol Glass Eyes + Filamental = the best. Am I the only person who doesn't like the Googol Glass Eyes? They look great as a still, but the pixel pupils just slide around like the old Eyes, which looks so much worse than if they'd had a solid jiggleboned pupil and tucked it behind a white grid so the pixels would lighten and darken without actually moving. It wouldn't be exactly like real pixels but it also wouldn't make me VERISIMILITUDE RAGE ARGH

I don't like them, and to be totally honest, I never even noticed that they change or move, or whatever. There's just not really anything gripping about them that would make me use them in a loadout.

I think it's a cute name, but I don't care for the way they look either. Filamental looks amazing and is the best pyro thing there is, though.

I'm hoping to try to find a Tam O'Shanter, a Stove Pipe, or a Glengarry bonnet, and those go for ~10/20 keys depending on the effect according to backpack.tf. I just started to play again after pretty like like 6 years of not playing. I played a lot when the game first came out, but stopped before the items were out there. Can you drop your own items that you pick up and equip? Can you find really rare stuff, or are those only from crates / buying them? I assume there is no other way to get keys other then $ or trading? What should I do with boxes if I cant open them? What are some items to look out for in hopes of being able to get a bit of a supply of items to stop around with?

They only contain rarer strange weapons that will probably not be re-released (apart festives) and are also pricier. 2c) Of course, you can always open any crate and hope you do roll that lucky 1% chance of an unusual hat, those can get very valuable if extremely lucky. 3) Keys can be only obtained through trading or by buying them in either the Mann Co. Store or the Community Market. 4) Crates you will not open you can delete, give them away or just trade them for something you want, some non-salvaged crates are actually not thrash because they have a better chance of getting a valuable item if opened.

Item drops just appear in your inventory when you're playing, you get a set number every week and they drop at intervals of roughly 1 hour (?) of playtime. Most common drops are weapons, which are mostly side-grades to the stock items but you can also get cosmetic items like hats and other miscellaneous clothing. Hats/miscs can be worth a decent bit, but the most valuable stuff is: Limited edition items from various promotions, hats with special visual effects (only from crates) and "Strange" items which count kills and other statistics (only from crates). 2 weapons from the same class can be crafted together into "scrap metal", 3 of those makes a "reclaimed metal" 3 of those makes a "refined metal", colloquially just referred to as scrap/rec/ref. Most weapons go for 1 scrap, most hats go for one to a couple of refined. Strange weapons are all over the place. There are a huge number of community sites with pricing information and trading centres to aid players in trading, so make use of those if you want to get into trading. To be honest, though, I don't play Pyro that much and was thinking about trading it, due to it being worth 2 keys at the moment, but I just can't do it. If I do play Pyro, I wanna play Pyro in style.

Did they make the flies more visible for the fly unusual effect? I may be the only person in the world who wasn't really happy about the changes to fetti (Now falls all around the person instead of directly down from the hat) because I got a lime g.fetti demofro just so I could name it "Unusual Weedfro" with the description "I got nugs fallin out of my hair!" p.s. A night or two ago I ran into a random Harvest server where to my surprise, my team not only had six Soldiers, but only one of them was a rocket jumper. Unfortunately I didn't have a lot of time to hang around and play, but for what little I did I could only go Kritz Medic.

Family Business shotty Heavy is a surprisingly entertaining gimmick. Nobody expects those two extra shots; I was even surprised. It's like having limitless shotgun ammo, after getting used to the regular 6-shot version. It's good for catching players off-guard. I can't decide which gloves to pair it with, as you don't want to be taking mini-crits for the speed, but Fists of Steel slow weapon switch could be painful.

You know, I like Foundry, but I don't like it when it is crawling with engineers on both sides. I was in two long games of Foundry that both ended in a stalemate thanks to all those engineers. Do they feel like they accomplished something? Do they feel pride in their transgressions? Do I have to keep being the only guy on my team that's actively trying to destroy their sentry guns and not, say, run into them over and over again as a Pyro or Scout like the rest of my team was doing? I got second place out of the stalemate. The first place score topper was a Phlog Pyro somehow dominating everybody on my team except me, because I didn't just walk into his crits a dozen times. ![]() And that's how Valve server push maps are played.
