I donate a couple of bucks to Punchquest folks whenever I can. It's not fair that rear end in a top hat designers get money, where great designers who provide non-intrusive services get screwed. I want the PunchQuest folks that whatever you produce, I will always buy. I am a customer for life.

Awesome. Death to Italian Fascists! edit: http://pockettactics.com/2013/01/14/guns-of-august-commander-is-coming-to-ios-sometime-this-year/ By the way, if Panzer Corps and Commander comes to iOS, buy them immediately. They are insanely great grognard PC games that are easy to learn and are fun as hell.

Happy Bear Suit posted:Also I feel very strongly that if they just put in an option to pay a one time fee of 6.99 or whatever to eliminate/decrease wait times and increase car toughness/decrease repair costs, the game would be infinitely more fun. EA made 25 million off of Simpsons Tapped Out last quarter. They'll never do a one time fee for Real Racing 3.

Det_no posted:Strategy fan? Might like hearing that Hero Mages is currently free. It looks kind of amateur and apparently there's some odd IAP (at least in the android version, I hear.) but so far it looks perfectly serviceable, has multiplayer and free is free. Thanks for this. It is actually pretty awesome and combines all of the genres I love well: Strategy, Cards, and RPG dice!

I want to point out that Dungeon Plunder http://www.appshopper.com/games/dungeon-plunder is one of the best games I have ever played and thanks to the goon that recommended it. It really is only 2 bucks. The IAP is just extra costumes that are vanity only. It's a tough roguelike/rpg with awesome addictive gambler combat. Seriously. It's good. I am currently addicted to that and Hearoes O & C because they actually made a great dota-like on ipad. Get Dungeon Plunder.

Anyone play Robotek? It is a really fun game with no IP needed. I would link it but I am on my ipad typing. It's very strategic on how to win. There are 3 types of slots that make actual dynamic strategy work. It just depends on what robots you have and pray the AI or your real life opponent doesn't roll doubles.

With this you could just split the screen in four with an X since all you do is go up/down/left/right. Would be great on an ipad with a controller though or virtual d-pad.

MacGyvers_Mullet posted:"everyone agreed it was a good game." You're clearly confusing the SA SimCity thread with some other forum. Are you talking about the ex-SimCity 4 dev that posted in the thread a couple times like a month before release? As far as I know nobody from SimCity ever posted and that thread is almost nothing but people talking about how god awful the game is. It was sarcasm. Since it's a Games forum tradition to have posters fall over game developers who post in SA threads. edit: For the record I was in the beta for Nimble Quest, got the regular one and bought IAP, like I have for their other games since I like them. I just like observing posters behaviors. v v I even bought Jones on Fire IAP so don't probate me! Necroneocon fucked around with this message at 15:51 on Apr 1, 2013 |

Det_no posted:Has anyone tried Motor World: Car Factory? It's a car themed button pressing simulator with some neat game mechanics and a pretty odd style to it. Kind of like Pocket Planes mixed with some veeery light elements from something like Grand Prix story where you build cars and slowly improve on them/take them out for a race. It gets super grindy later with the donuts stuff.

marshmonkey posted:I think even the most trivial goal or meaningless "you accomplished something!" popup that occurred at steady intervals would satisfy the people that feel like it is grindy. I think it's not that it takes much longer to get the final character upgrades, but that the pace of unlocking/upgrading anything slows way down after you finish upgrading the powerups and get everyone to 2 stars. People need to be given rewards (even meaningless ones) at regular intervals to feel like they are doing well, I had hoped that constantly edging out your high score would be satisfying enough for most people, but it's probably not. After I die in game i'd like to have a motivational message or something that tells me i'm a nice/great person rather than an ad. Especially ads for games with virtual buttons.

toxicsunset posted:If you're not trying to make a great game what the hell are you doing and why should you be showered with money for it? It's just bizarre to me that dev's first reactions seem to be "Ugh, people don't fairly compensate me for my game by purchasing it" or "Ugh, my pay structure was bad and I didnt make money" instead of "Maybe my game wasnt good enough" I thought your initial post, which I agreed with was a bit too aggressive. But this part pretty much sums up a lot. The PunchQuest people who posted here were always really nice and introspective. They didn't blame people but looked to see what they did wrong. They weren't snarky obnoxious devs, so I always would support them buying IAP because they weren't utter jackasses. You can't say that for other devs in here. It's like the Fez debate going on in the PC world. That guy is a pretty racist rear end in a top hat so I won't be buying Fez when it comes to Steam. But Kotaku has an article saying Who cares if he's an rear end in a top hat! Fez is Indie! Whoaaa! It's like people miss the Ouya Irony.
