* I really loving hope they also tightened up the sticks themselves, because I (and I'm sure a lot of other people) have a controller with a stick that tends to drift to one side on occasion, which is noticeable in certain games with small deadzones like the Mass Effect series.

Blast Fantasto posted:There are plenty of things wrong with the XBO but I feel like Microsoft running out of free money coupons isn't really one of them. Wasn't it a discount rather than free money? It still required an actual purchase to be made. And yes, it is a problem when comparing them directly to their main competitor. When the Vita hit one year old they gave out 4 free games to anyone with a PSN account that could access the store through the Vita itself. Sony didn't run out of those free games in the week they were on offer, but MS can't even offer a discount coupon for longer than half a day? YMMV, but yeah that just drives home the difference between the services to me. Lord Zedd posted:Things like this tend to get abused quickly when all you need to do is type an email. People love to horde poo poo like this with multiple emails. Fair point. Should have tied it to Gamertags in that case. Even offer a way for non-Xbox dudes to sign up for a Gamertag now to get people locked into the ecosystem as early as possible. Really, so many better ways it could be done. Turning up to a page day one to be told "you missed out on something" is not a way to project a good first impression. Parkingtigers fucked around with this message at May 22, 2013 around 03:43 |

I wish people would realize Sony does stuff like this because they're behind Microsoft in terms of subscribers. It has nothing to do with being a "nicer" or more fair company, and after PSN overtakes XBL they will surely stop giving away so much free poo poo. You see this all the time with phone companies. Sprint is continually having sales on plans and selling certain phones at (more of) a loss because they need to build up their subscriber base to try and get anywhere near Verizon.

Ok I need some help I haven't been able to get a connection to Xbox Live for longer than an hour for the last 3-4 days and for most of that it's been more like five minutes at most(and often not at all) and my knowledge of fixing wireless networks starts and stops at knowing how to reset a router(and that doesn't help much at all) so for the love of God I need some help

Blast Fantasto posted:I wish people would realize Sony does stuff like this because they're behind Microsoft in terms of subscribers. That "stuff like this" is the subscription service. So those are not really compatible arguments. Plus and Live are not comparable. They are not the same category of services. Fewer subscribers is actually preferable for Sony financially. They lose potential sales by making Plus more appealing. It's entirely a PR move, so it actually kind of is about being nicer. Aphrodite fucked around with this message at May 22, 2013 around 03:59 |

The T posted:http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/...o_stop_time.php Hmm yes console makers are living in the past because my mom likes to play pinball and angry birds on her iPhone. The only thing I'll give her is the cable stuff, but what exactly are they supposed to do whilst the obnoxious cable companies keep pouring thousands and thousands of lobbying dollars into keeping their monopolies and decades old business models alive?

Do what Apple, Amazon, Netflix, and other parts of MS are doing and build their own IP-based video distribution network?
