AMAZON PRE-ORDER LINK

A three-part documentary on the creation of the series, similar in depth and length to the TNG Season 1 docs:
  • Part One: Countdown - Chronicles the challenges faced by the producers and creative staff as they attempt to launch a new chapter in the Star Trek saga by making the then-radical decision to create a prequel to the beloved original series. Features all new interviews with key personnel including creators Rick Berman and Brannon Braga, production designer Herman Zimmerman, technical consultants Michael and Denise Okuda, writers Andre Bormanis, Phyllis Strong and more.

  • Part Two: Boarding the NX-01 - Follows the team as they begin the casting process and production on the series 2-hour pilot Broken Bow. Features all-new interviews with key cast and crew including series pilot director James L. Conway and series leads Scott Bakula (Jonathan Archer), Connor Trinneer (Trip Tucker), and Dominic Keating (Malcolm Reed).

  • Part Three: First Flight - Charts the course for the rest of the series’ first season including all-new interviews with key production and post-production personnel.
The six-disc set also includes a candid conversation with the series’ creators, Rick Berman and Brannon Braga, offering a glimpse into their creative process. In addition, the Blu-ray features brand new commentaries on select episodes from the season, along with a host of previously released special features such as deleted scenes and outtakes.”

An "extremely candid" roundtable discussion with Brannon Braga and Rick Berman.
(Aatrek note: Everyone tells me this is great. "Oh my god, you won't believe it" is a quote from a very knowledgeable inside source.)

Audio commentaries:
  • "Broken Bow" with Brannon Braga, James L. Conway, Dan Curry, Connor Trinneer, and Dominic Keating
  • "Broken Bow" with Rick Berman and Brannon Braga
  • "Silent Enemy" with Andre Bormanis and Dan Curry
  • "Shadows of P'Jem" with Mike Sussman and Phyllis Strong
  • "Shuttlepod One" with Brannon Braga, David Livingston, Connor Trinneer, and Dominic Keating

All the archival stuff from the Enterprise DVDs will be included as well.

Why can't we have had that show?

Fantastic OP Aatrek! I'm pumped for all of these things that don't involve Enterprise! I recently tried to watch it, but I was also watching Fringe at the same time and Fringe got interesting and Enterprise stayed dreary. I've already seen the show once so I'm not missing anything.

That image was only used in the pre-Season One series launch promotion; it's one I've always liked and was sad to see it ignored for the rest of the series.

Those ENT hardsuits might be the best costumes in the entire franchise.

I guess there's not enough armor to make them hardsuits...but there's not really a word for a hybrid hard and soft suit.

I also love how it has two characters that become sidelined and they do not have two much better characters

Courage, my friends. 'Tis not too late to build a better world.

I'm much too distracted by how badly that ENT promo pic is photoshopped to be able to see it as badass. Each face is lit completely independently from the others!

I'm actually afraid to critically revisit Enterprise, because I think I'll just sad over opening the old feelings about how close they were to doing something awesome, and how much they almost made it. Just a few tweaks, and it would have been a home run. Hearing people, especially if it's Berman and Braga, acknowledge that over a decade after the fact somehow seems even more painful.

I mean, if I hear Berman actually say the words "well, we now know we should have made the show Manny Coto made in Season 4, back starting with Season 1" I think I'd

myself.

I guess, but I always kind of thought of Star Trek being a hippie show of sorts. They weren't really space communists until TNG, though.

Don't forget The Return of the Archons, which takes an interesting premise and follows through with Kirk basically emulating 20th century cultural imperialism- destroying a way of life he finds offensive and leaving the people of Beta III to pick up the pieces.

I'm sorry, but this is an awful picture. It is very photoshopped, it's trying too hard to be all "the right stuff" and and it's just ugly. I'm very disappointed they went with this over the cool-as-gently caress picture of the nacelles appearing to be on fire.

Seriously. I know there's loads of stuff that probably happened behind the scenes that we as fans weren't privy to, but at this point I don't really care why they blew it anymore, only that they did.

It's not a great picture but the tone is just so much closer to what Enterprise should have been.
