madam, your hydraulic pressure is atrocious!

I feel for Sactown, but as a Sonics fan I'm ecstatic. The NBA was my first sports love before anything else and even though I grew up in New England once I started making my own decisions on who to root for I chose the team as far away as possible with the cool dude who dunked the hardest on everyone. It's like I told my Dad, which #40 am I going to root for, Shawn Kemp or Dino Rajda?

When the Sonics got moved to OKC I really stopped following the NBA and it took me until the finals this year to even watch the Thunder play. I can't tell you how many times I saw a Durant Sonics jersey on eBay and thought that it looked right and he should be rocking it now. It's not going to be the same, but with the Sonics back I can start caring about the NBA again, and basketball is rad as gently caress so that feels good.

If Charlotte does the right thing and takes the Hornets name back it'll be two wrongs being righted. It also reminds me of the mid-90's and it might just be because I was a kid then but that time was fun as gently caress. Someone get me a Starter jacket with the Seattle skyline on the back.

Apparently there were rumblings yesterday that this move was going to take the Kings to Virginia Beach, that'd have been a Hell of a thing, it doesn't seem like Virginia's ever going to get a pro sports team.

As someone who's been following the Maloofery for the past year or so, I was under the impression the Virginia Beach thing was always intended to be a combination bargaining chip/last roll of the dice for the Maloof family. They'd either get blindingly lucky and get to keep their personal NBA clusterfuck or they'd make Hansen sweat and be able to bilk another 50 million or whatever from him.

I've never been to Arco or whatever the gently caress they call it now, but I was born in the valley and have been a Kings fan from 1996 until today. I'm honestly happy for Seattle because I got pissed when their team was taken away. I might passively root for the new Seattle team, but it's just not the same. I guess I'll probably be what Simmons would call an "NBA widow."
One of my favorite Kings memories: the first playoffs I watched were in '96. SAC, an 8 seed, played Seattle, a 1 seed, and managed to win one of the games. I loved underdogs as a kid, especially those from where I came from.

Edit: Holy gently caress I can't even type a basic post without the Maloofs waffling. gently caress you, Maloofs.

As a die hard Seahawks fan of 30+ years that's lived in Sacramento metro area all my life, this is a weird sports conundrum for me. I don't blame the city of Seattle for this, but it is just bizarre to see the city of Sacramento rally and approve a brand new downtown stadium only to have the owners back out because they're too broke. It's heartbreaking.

Also to everyone wondering about the quality of the team, they are only bad because the Maloofs haven't spent money on them in years. A wealthy owner will get them up to speed quick.

I guess the fates are telling me to move to Seattle...

It's true. I don't know if they fired Adelman, or if it was Petrie, but that's the moment we should have known it was going to go down the shitter. I heard talk that Adelman was old and wanted to retire anyway, but clearly that's false since he's still coaching.
