Speculation on how the Maloof's ownership shares may come into play http://www.cowbellkingdom.com/2013/...en-here-before/ quote:There is another little tidbit hiding in the current breakdown of Kings ownership that might come into play. According to our research, the Maloofs own 43 percent of the Kings and another 10-percent is controlled by their friend Bob Hernreich. They have a 53-percent voting block, which is strong enough to block any attempt by minority owners to seize control.

It seems like a terrible business move for the Seattle ownership group to be acquiring a franchise with over $100 billion in debt that's losing quadrillions of dollars a season, according to the Maloofs.

As someone who is a fan of 2 expansion teams (Suns, D'backs) and 2 relocated teams (Coyotes, Cardinals) I don't care 2 craps about things that happened in Winnipeg/St Louis/Chicago. I hate that the Cardinals kept their name when they moved here. Sure you can see Cardinals in the PHX area, but its certainly not something associated with it. If they wanted to be named for a non threatening bird it should've been the Wrens or Roadrunners. I always think its dumb when Im at a Cardinals game and see Dick "Night Train" Lane in the ring of honor, Im sure he was great an all, but what the hell do I or any Phoenician know about him? There's no connection. I see people taking pictures of the Aneas Williams and Pat Tillman signs, not the ones from Stl/Chicago. Sports are one of the last great bastions of civic pride. I wish there was a gentlemen's agreement to leave record books, colors and team nicknames with the cities that get left behind, just so if luck every does turn around and they get another team, they can use that history. I.E. if Virginia Beach ever did somehow get a team, Id hope they'd be called "The Squires." Or as Atom & His Package more succinctly put it "there's no Jazz in Utah and few lakes in L-A."

Giving out Detlef Schrempf bobbleheads or hoisting a 1979 Championship banner in OKC would be pretty silly and pointless antagonistic. I lived in Oklahoma for 3 years after the Thunder arrived, and I think people felt guilty. Why don't they buy the Hawks instead? The league should really be trying to facilitate that instead. Do people think this would be happening if the Kings had won the title in 2002?
