foolish_fool posted:The Panthers have Segeyaro. He should at least be enough to carry them above Paramatta. I still can't understand the Segeyaro signing - sure he could be a very good player, but their club captain and most consistent player is an 80 minute man in the same position. Unless they plan on shuffling Walsh or Burns out of the starting side to fit both Kingston and Segeyaro (all in all not a terrible plan), that's just wasted cap space on the bench in either Kingston or Segeyaro. Also the Panthers are so cap retarded with ridiculous back ended contracts for mediocre players I doubt they have much space at all. edit: Kingston & Segeyaro at the same club is even more bizarre when you consider some of the clubs crying out for a quality dummy half - NQ and Canberra spring to mind but I'm sure there are others. NQ must be clearing all the cap space for Thurston because with Payne now retired they screwed themselves by letting Segeyaro go. Even I'm going to have to agree, Parra have got nothing in the forwards this year and without forward momentum the natural geniuses of Sandow and Hayne won't have anything to work their magic on. The world's best halfback and the world's best fullback just won't have the opportunity to shine. I can't believe how much I'm not looking forward to the season ahead.

8th round.

My impression is the Cowboys likely have a plan to deal with the hooker position. Some combination of one of the young blokes and that guy from Melbourne. Also I think it is Penrith who are clearing cap space for Thurston... e: Stuart will be whinging in round 1.

Poor Ellis. Loved him playing for us, but he was definitely getting injury prone. Hope he's ok. It will be awesome to watch Stuart reacting to the eels collapsing this year - he's always more funny when I don't care about the team he's coaching. That grand final though

So in case any of you Southern Hemisphere wankers care, Leeds beat the everliving poo poo out of Hull FC and will almost certainly demolish Melbourne in three weeks. Also I want to punch the Ozzie journalist who wrote "Kevin Who?" after Sinfield got the Golden Boot, because Holy Hell. Would be nice if the World Club Challenge were something more than a publicity stunt to sell soup, but, it is what it is. Oh well.

The problem with the WCC is that nobody down here cares about it, mostly because of the (perceived) unfairness of it being over there. It'd be nice to have the occasional one here, but it's still hard to imagine too many people getting up for it. And that would always have been the reaction if an Aussie didn't win what is their birthright (in the public's eyes).

(Unless you're Mick Potter, who just seems like a glutton for punishment at this stage.) And speaking of clubs that almost died, the big topic on Salford City's message board is "Who cares that we lost 36-0 to Wigan in our home opener, we still exist and our new owner actually gives a poo poo about rugby league and wants us to do well!" Plus apparently the new boss paid off random fans' bar tabs after the match, which is pretty cool.

Yeah, the commentators in the Leeds game were talking about that. It is indeed pretty drat cool. The WCC should be after the respective ESL/NRL grand finals, as part of a celebratory post-season tour, and played in the country of the team that lost the last year so

So nrl.livesport.tv has gone belly up apparently, does anyone know of a similar service or replacement? Nothing on nrl.com yet. Any other ways to watch NRL or superleague (from France) reliably live or on delay would be nice.

yeah, its ok for the bigger matches, but the timezones suck so I don't really want to watch most of the matches live... Anyway its possible that nrl.com will allow us dirty foreigners back in if there's no payfor alternative.

I used to have a Setanta Canada account with a proxy that let me watch a bunch of Rugby matches (Union and League) from various different competitions, live and on delay, but Setanta Canada no longer exists and the account didn't transfer. Watching games on delay is vastly to be preferred, because I am less likely to fall asleep halfway through and wake up to find Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka cricket tests are on.
