I'd like to think Tigers fans would be first in line to take shots at him. It looks like they ripped off this ad, specifically the parking ticket bit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88eHU6EE0y0

Burn Down Canberra posted:I'm on the older side of gen y (just turned 30) and its just the way of my generation. I have plenty of uni educated friends who are as tattooed as Dugan. I honestly don't get why people are making a fuss. Lewis is his sporting idol. As an almost-30-year-old-with-a-couple-of-tats let me just put it out there that it's not them that makes me consider him the archetypal bogan, just the whole package. e: the funnier part of the ESPN one is that the running comment actually makes sense in the context of NFL fantasy. And yes, I dream of Tigers fans taking shots at him wherever he goes... preferably with BB guns...

No one would ever captain Braith Anasta in a fantasy league competition. Also there's nothing wrong with Tattoos in general but my god Dugan and Carney look like utter bogan filth.

You want to know something funny? In the original, early drafts for Star Wars, the word George Lucas used to refer to the Dark Side of the Force was, you guessed it, "Bogan."

I dream of watching Braith in one of those charity boxing things. I want him to stay on his feet for 12 rounds, just not defending himself. I would pay a lot of money to the charity that made that happen.

That's going to happen every week he plays for the tigers. So you may as well donate to the charity that is the west tigers and buy a membership.

Anyone following this drama with Steve Dank? There is a media conference being held pretty soon. Pretty sure it's all a bit of an over reaction by the media.

This is why the RFU didn't want the sport to go professional back in 1895, you know. First they get paid to play rugby, and before you realize it you've got mutant bogans rampaging around the Syndey suburbs.

Wonder what the fallout will be from the drug announcements today? Will any clubs actually be brought to account or will it be a case of "Set up integrity unit, find a few scapegoats and wait for the media cycle to move on"...

There's been match fixing with at least one code too. And to tell us the odds that there was a fixed NRL match here's Glenn Munsie from Tab Sportsbet.

I'm pretty sure the Tigers are fine with matchfixing; I'm more worried that they have been engaged by underworld figures to assassinate people who have a predisposition to heart attacks or drinking/drug problems.

Kind of hard to set up a scapegoat when they outright stated that entire teams have been doped, stops dead in its tracks "a few bad apples" arguments and prevents easy scapegoats as large numbers of people are done.

Never underestimate the ability of Australian sports to sweep massive issues under the rug and pretend that everything's OK. Or to just issue meaningless punishments and then handwave the problem off into the distance. And then celebrate the cheaters a short while later if they "come good". Although if the league wants to sacrifice the Manly team and bring in the Bears I'm all for it.

ARLC have commissioned Deloitte to audit Manly's sports science unit. Assume that it would be investigating the time that this Dank bloke was at the club.
|
| # ? Feb 7, 2013 02:20 |

At this point in time its just the arlc being proactive. If ASADA find anything at the afl club this Dank fellow was connected with they are going to come flying into any club associated with him. Which there are a couple of nrl sides. I found it a bit weird that some nrl players (including one on my own side) trained in Thailand in the off season because in some circles trained in Thailand is code for roiding your face off. I'm hoping the nrl is clean but if this Dank guy gets shown to be dodgy just be prepared for ASADA jumping all over the code. Nothing could make them happier than pinging a bunch of afl and nrl players.

I'm more curious whether if (naively) this was only really going on when Dank was around the club whether there'd be any real way to prove if (for instance) Manly were using. Or whether they'd have to rely on circumstantial evidence or whatnot.

Oh what I'd give if the Storm got hosed over because of some Stringer/Avon(Wire spoiler) poo poo between Smith and Bellamy. Except we're talking about Manly, so maybe it should be Lyon and one of the Stewart boys. I can picture Watmough trying to take notes and giving up and drawing pictures of girls with big tits.
