That's a nice team.
It'll be a shame if something happened to it.

Manly are trying to give this game away. Why would you ever push passes when you're in your own half, up by two, and have been defending for 80% of the half?

I only want Manly to win because I tipped them, otherwise I would prefer a nuclear bomb to hit the stadium.

Some of this goal line defence from Manly has been amazing.

E: When did the refs get the balls to call a penalty in a close game?

It was more amazing when they didn't call one just before the goal.

I don't know how we managed to (mostly) hold off Melbourne through the second half so I think I'm happy with the 1 point.

Great, now I'm gonna have that stuck in my head all day

The Tigers make me feel so much better about supporting such a loser team.

quote:

Adam Blair's form has been so bad there has been speculation the Tigers want to offload him to a rival club, even if it means paying part of his contract.

They are already paying for three other former players at other clubs as part of this year's cap.

The times when I wonder just how Parramatta have managed to squander one of the best junior developmental systems in the league over the past decade, I can always look to the Wests Tigers to cheer me up (sorry iajanus).

PREMIERSHIPS ARE MAGIC

quote:

THE seemingly happy marriage between Balmain and Western Suburbs is starting to crack.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal that Western Suburbs members will vote this week on whether to split from Balmain at NSW Cup level next season.

Western Suburbs district rugby league football club has called a general meeting this Saturday from 9am where a member's resolution will read: "That the Western Suburbs Rugby League Football Club do not become part of a joint venture agreement with Balmain Rugby League Club to form a team called Wests Tigers in the NSW State Cup in 2013."

There is no indication the split will reach NRL level, but it certainly appears there are simmering tensions between the two clubs.

It's widely known that old club loyalties often cause animosity on the NRL club's board.

Wests will retain their identity this coming year by competing in the third-tier Bundy Cup competition -- but the club wants to stay in the NSW Cup as the Magpies.

Western Suburbs played this year in the NSW Cup, but did not win a game.

Remarkably, former Wests Tigers coach Tim Sheens moved his fringe players back to Balmain Ryde-Eastwood, not Wests.

Balmain Ryde-Eastwood eventually made the NSW Cup grand final.

Rather that have two feeder teams in the NSW Cup, club officials have decided to field a Wests Tigers side.

Wests loyalists aren't happy.

"This was put forward by the members so we are obliged to follow it through," said Magpies director Bob Cairns.

"A lot of members when the joint venture was first mooted wanted to keep the Magpies in the State Cup."

Wests have about 300 voting members.

Meanwhile, a Sydney mayor has angrily hit out at suggestions rugby league will shortly shift away from Leichhardt Oval.

The State Government's stadium strategy -- which will significantly reduce investment into suburban grounds -- could spell the end for local grounds like Leichhardt Oval, Brookvale Oval, Campelltown Stadium, Kogarah Oval and Centrebet Stadium.

Tigers CEO Stephen Humphreys suggested Leichhardt may soon be unable to host NRL games -- a statement that angered Leichhardt mayor Darcy Byrne.

"Leichhardt Oval is the most popular and iconic rugby league venue in Australia. The idea that the Tigers should cease playing games there altogether is ludicrous," Byrne said.

"The four games played there at present is not enough. To be frank, the Tigers may have made the finals more often in recent years if they had played more games at their spiritual home.

"The club's members, fans and local residents overwhelming support more, not less, games at Leichhardt.

"The Government, NRL and Wests Tigers need to listen to what the fans want and ensure that this famous ground is not abandoned.

"Council owns the ground and I will be inviting the club to sit down with me to discuss what is needed to keep the Tigers at Leichhardt.

"This should include expanding community use of the ground through children and youth programs."

In 2010, the Federal Government spent more than $3 million into upgrading corporate facilities at Leichhardt Oval.

That story (or similar) seems to come out around twice a year, every year. One of these days something will become of it. Also I wish we could just roll back the team 2 years, and then not make any of the recruitment decisions since (excepting Pat Richards, who will always have a place at the team).

Rule changes for R15 onwards
http://www.nrl.com/nrl-rule-changes...98/default.aspx

quote:

  • The introduction of a maximum time limit for the forming of scrums follows recommendations from the NRL Competition Committee, with statistics showing that an average of eight minutes per match was being lost packing scrums.

  • The Committee also found that the 40-second time limit for drop-outs was excessive with the limit to be reduced to 30 seconds.

Good changes, I think, making sure scrums are formed quicker.

Warriors will spend their extra 8 minutes conceding tries I imagine.

"The Liberal Senate will no longer be of any concern to us. I have just received word that the Chairman has dissolved the Upper House permanently."

quote:

South Sydney forward Ben Te'o has vehemently denied accusations he assaulted a Brisbane woman.

Earlier today, the Nine Network published a preview of an interview in which a woman claims she was punched in the face by Te'o in the presence of former Broncos team-mates Corey Norman and Darius Boyd.

"I am able to refute entirely any suggestion that I acted improperly," Te'o said in a statement released immediately after the reports were published.

"On the night in question, I found myself in unfortunate circumstances that were not caused by me and I acted appropriately to deal with a difficult situation.

"I called the police to report the incident and have the female removed from the house.

"I have not pressed charges against the female and to the best of my knowledge no charges have been laid against me."

The incident is reported to have happened in Brisbane the day after the April 19 Australia-New Zealand Test match, which was played in Canberra.

The Nine Network was set to run the story on Tuesday; however, it was not aired because charges had yet to be laid.

Pledging his full assistance, Te'o added: "I have offered my co-operation to the police, the NRL integrity unit, my club and other authorities to ensure that this matter is dealt with in the appropriate way.

"To this point I have not had any contact from the police since their attendance at the house, and neither my management nor my club have had any contact from the police or the female at the centre of this news story."

He denies "acting improperly" but at no point does he deny hitting her
