Backstory
Growing up, I was a chubbster, which was a pretty direct result of my family's eating habits. In middle school, I maintained my love for unhealthy food types but started to eat less, resulting in something remarkably like an eating disorder. In late high school and early college, the bad habits of eating junk while starving myself became more routine, until I met the love of my life and became truly happy. Like most married couples, I was happy and spending time with my husband, and didn't waste time to worry about nutrition. As I finished up my college education, though, I became stressed out and emotional, so on top of weight gained from a bad case of birth control, I woke up one day to find my weight at a startling number. Thanks to Turtlehammer, my IRL best friend, I picked up a copy of Starting Strength and took a weightlifting class my final semester. I felt liberated! Strong! A loving strong bitch; a goddess! Upon graduation, I lost access to the gym and here I am. I am ready to be a fierce goddess who is bad rear end at lifting the heavy weights.

Also, I have a big butt and I want it to be less big.

New Goals:

    • By December 1, 2013: squat 1x my bodyweight for 5 reps.
    • By November 1, 2013: run 1 mile in under 11 minutes.
    • By October 1, 2013: Perform a solid Tae Geuk Yuk Jang.

Personal Goals
    • I want to keep myself accountable for consuming enough Calories per day by posting my intake in this log.
    • I would love to be under 150 lbs by the end of this year.
    • I want to accumulate healthy muscle, and be buff as crap.
    • I want to express myself more creatively with my food by making enjoyable, healthy meals.

Intake
    • Slim Fast Shake - 190
    • Small bite of husband's sandwich - 27
    • Pieces of cake top fresh out of the oven - 135
    • Spinach Chicken Alfredo - 407
    • Banana peanut butter smoothie - 126
    • Tortilla Pizza - 293
    Total = 1178
A bit under than I would like even with a caloric deficit, but there's always today to eat like a pro.
Also, I'm a but chuffed with myself for making a lower-calorie Alfredo recipe that tastes better than most canned variations.

Output
    • Bench - 45 x 5, 55 x 5
    • Squat - 65 x 5, 85 x 3
    • Leg Press Machine - 90 x 10, 110 x 10
    • Hyperextensions - BW x 10, 10 x 5
    • Chest Fly Machine - 30 x 10, 35 x 10
    • Calf Press Machine - 90 x 10, 110 x 10, 130 x 10
    • Military Press - 20 x 10, 30 x 10, 30 x 5
I would have done more squats and tried deadlifts again if there hadn't been two rude individuals hogging/hanging out by the only squat rack in the gym. I ended up piddling my time and energy away on machines, instead.

    • Apple (Pink Lady) - 72
    • Banana peanut butter smoothie - 223
    • Garlic Lime Shrimp Quesadilla - 370
    Total = 1663
Today I ate a big lunch in the form of Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich and fries that put me over my deficit Calorie goal of 1450. However, I'm not going to beat myself up about it. I made that decision. I live with it. I move on.
Supper tonight was glorious. I loved the tango of the garlic and lime infused with the shrimp. I will definitely be making it again.

Output
    • 30 minutes of moderate DDR/ITG
    • Body weight Squats - 30
    • Goblet Squats - 5 x 20, 5 x 10
    • With a broom squats - 15
I didn't get a lot of sleep last night, so I figured I would do a bit of cardio and work on my squat form today, seeing as I'm having to retrain my muscles all over again. My lower back wants to curve outward on the way up and move the weight from my legs to my shoulders like a neophyte. I went over my form diligently with Starting Strength diagrams, and I feel like by the last set of goblet squats I wasn't having to concentrate so much on every muscle for my body to perform correctly.

Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich

FWIW, I frequently end up at Wendy's around lunch and get the spicy chicken sandwich. You can ask them to put it on a small bun (like the one used for JBCs), which saves you about 100 cal (by ditching 13 carbs, a couple protein and a couple fat). Plus, who cares about the lame rear end bun anyway? Sometimes messing up is unavoidable. Just gotta try to make the best decisions while doing it.

I've been adjusting to a cold bug for the past couple of days, and today was the day I didn't feel like eating anything. Lunch was four slices of cinnamon raisin bread forced on me by my husband. Supper was a good eight hours after that, and felt like a TON of food. I got home post workout, added up my calories, found them at 1025, freaked out a little bit, and had a chocolate milk to relax. I'll probably be back to normal soon. Hopefully. I'm a bit tired of chewing on my own mucus.
Oooh! Here's a picture of supper!

I could seriously eat plain, steamed broccoli all day long. Mmmm-mmm!

I noticed you're drinking normal coke, do you dislike diet/zero? It's a good way to cut calories and sugar, although of course some people claim it gives you cancer. If so I'm going to die since I drink like 3 cans a day.

Also I totally want a steam mop.

I tend to alternate my normal and diet choices. Yesterday's normal coke was chosen because I knew I needed the extra calories, even from a disreputable source. The 500 deficit of my BMR x Activity level(at 1.2) rounded off is 1450. I really do try to hit that mark and not go under too much because I want to have the energy to lift.
On personal taste taste versus paranoia: I really like the taste of all three (normal, diet, zero) cokes. Most people would disagree with me, but I'm also the type of person who drinks slim fast in the morning for breakfast only because it's easy and I LOVE the taste. That being said, I grew up and live in an area where it feels like a petrochemical plant is on every corner. H2S gas releases and shelter-in-place orders happened a lot in my early childhood. The companies are starting to achieve cleaner emissions, but it seems like everyone has some sort of cancer here. A good amount of people I know in the area don't drink diet sodas or use aspartame because they don't want to increase their chances. Personally, I think the air here is more of a risk, and I'm going to drink whichever coke I want.

I mean kudos to him for being able to bench 315 lbs, but it was really inconsiderate for him to leave them on the bar in the only squat/bench rack for 12 full minutes after using them and then give me the evil eye for daring to interrupt his circuit by taking them off. I may just be a weakling, but that really winded me enough that I feel like I had more potential lift energy beforehand that was wasted. /End Whine

Good job on squatting three sets of 115!

Thanks!

I've had family at my house since Thursday, and hopefully tomorrow will be the last day. Don't get me wrong, I love family. I just want to get back to my schedule. Two nights away from lifting compounded with eating whatever is given to me makes me feel like Fat Fatty McLazybones.

Log for 1/27/13

Intake

    • Fast Shake - 190
    • Breakfast Burrito - 300
    • Hashbrowns - 210

Since I've been more active with lifting, it seems like I want to eat more and never poop. Today I ate so much foodstuffs that I'm definitely not going to bed hungry!

So weird. Being active makes me poop more.

Deficit eating makes me poop way less often.

Is it just a deficit, or the quality of food? Pooping sucks when you're eating sodium-high chips and fast food, but when I eat cleaner foods, my body is like, "YAY, THANK YOU FOR THIS NONTOXIC FOOD! LET'S poo poo IT OUT TODAY!"
