Use Unblock-US. Their default region for Gamecenter is supposed to be somewhere with no blackouts.

Yeah I've yet to experience a single blackout using Unblock-US this season. Well worth the five bucks per month.

Yes because we got ViaPlay which is much more expensive. Gamecenter cost 50 bucks(320SEK) all season, ViaPlay cost 250SEK each month. Even with the added 32 SEK per month for Unblock-US it's still a lot cheaper to just use a proxy when I register.

This might be the exactly wrong place to ask this, but are the playoffs streamed somewhere online if you can sign in with someone who does have cable's account? Kind of like I can watch HBO Go anywhere by signing in with their Comcast account.

Edit: I stopped being lazy and figured it out myself.

just signed up for http://www.unblock-us.com and it is letting me watch the Sharks game on my PS3. Very nice since I don't have cable.

Good to know that it works on consoles. What's your setup?

I just followed the instructions for the ps3 through the website. Changed my DNS settings, rebooted, went to the browser and logged in. Pretty simple.

As predicted in the Bible.

So am I really seeing commercials during this game for NHL Gamecenter advertising NBCSN games as a Verizon-only exclusive? WTF?

I think Verizon has some deal with the NHL where if you watch a game on your Verizon phone through GCL, you won't be blacked out/don't have to pay for GCL or some crap. I'm not sure how it works, all I know is that I can watch games on my phone while logged into the computer and it won't kick me out of either.

Looks like all Unblock-US does is use their DNS servers, which I assume are outside the US. What would be the difference of just using a free DNS server in Mexico for example?

Nothing, which is what I've been telling people to do for like 2 years now but people are still paying. I guess it is a little annoying waiting for a slow proxy to load, but it takes like 2 minutes at most and then you just turn it off and watch on your regular connection. This doesn't work for console viewings, of course.

When you contact Example.com through Unblock-US' DNS, that DNS actually returns a proxy IP address that Unblock-US runs located in some other country instead of example.com itself. That proxy passes IP geolocation on example.com for you, and then steps out of the way for you to get the actual content stream directly. This is why they have a list of supported sites/services and it doesn't work on everything.

DNS doesn't talk to your destination server (There are some cases where it technically does, but they won't help either), so it can't be used for proxying.

It's not Unblock-US' DNS that is doing the trickery, it just simplifies the system.

The DNS servers themselves are located in New York City.

Now a free proxy will work, but they're slow as hell and untrustworthy and only work on multitask capable devices.

I'm on a uni connection that doesn't allow manual changing of DNS so I kind of have to use Unblock-US.

For me it just usually takes forever to get a proxy that works and gamecenter still blocks me out sometimes. It's just kinda time consuming is all and I usually end up watching someone else's stream instead (rather than going thru all the trouble for HD).

Little Joe? Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

You have to log in with whatever cable provider you get NBC sports through. I didn't have an issues watching a game with it.

As predicted in the Bible.

So, NY and Boston are still playing in overtime, but I want to watch the Sharks! If only there were a service that I could pay to use so I could watch any game I want online.... oh, there is, and I pay for it! But the games are blacked out because they're covered on national television... but the game I want to see isn't on right now. Fuckers.

edit: Bitch about it and the Bruins score. At least I've been listening to Dan Rusanowski on KFOX, what a great radio commentator.

Does anyone else have problems with having low stream quality on an AppleTV? Sometimes it will jump up to the full quality stream. I have plenty of bandwidth, maybe Unblock-US is causing the problem?

BETTER THE DEVIL YOU KNOW

I get issues like that on the ATV sometimes. How are you connected, wifi? If you can go wired, try that. The wifi module on the ATV isn't wonderful.

Unblock US doesn't proxy the data steam, just the IP lookup so that shouldn't affect anything.

I have it wired to my router. Using Speedtest last night I was pulling 15 Megabits down but the stream never changed to HD quality.

Watching the Ottawa and Pittsburgh game now it's in perfect HD, no hiccups. I guess I just wish the NHL's servers were more consistent.
