Well, I'm glad I had that little surprise spoiled for me. That just sounds rude as hell.

I just had an early-game terror mission on that one small roadway map. Chryssalids, Seekers, and Thin Men. Only one death (and 3 25+ day injuries)! Long War doesn't gently caress around, even on normal. I was days out from my lasers being done, too. Now that I have them, though? :getin:

How do I get back into the air game in Long War? All of my interceptors are in the shop and the goddamn aliens can just run around at-will like the fuckers they are.

If you're early on (before laser cannons), stop trying to shoot down anything that isn't gunning for your satellites (high altitude, typically flashing). Let larger UFOs get to where they're going and then murder everything inside once they land or start a terror mission / abduction. I haven't gotten past laser cannons, but presumably with top tier weapons you want to shoot down the terror mission ships to avoid panic increasing.

I have a few laser cannons, that's about it. I just started researching the boosters. Just lost a satellite, actually. I think I have the bleeding mostly stopped, but I guess I can let them move a bit until I get my air force back in shape.

The little jerks also just sandbagged a UFO (4 aliens, though one was a disk) then dropped two terror missions on me. Guess this is the part where they stop pulling punches a bit.

Yeah, I don't think anyone would be upset if AlexD got a promotion in sickbay so he could be MECd.

That base defense was a hell of a thing. Nicely done, Beagle. It was also really fun when Awo's namesake showed up to give Beagle advice based on what he'd do.

Beagle's starting to worry me a little with his lust for alien death. Him farming Chrysallids is one thing, laughing maniacally while yelling "flame on" and flamethrowering a bunch of EXALT is another.

I'm starting to see things Beagle's way regarding selling loot, the putting Marksman's/Strike rifles on Snipers, and taking 30% shots like it's going out of style. I sold a landed UFO's worth of crap and got all of my basic beam weapons ordered the day I finished the research. Getting Disabling Shot so early is great and I actually like having my sniper with the group to help with cleanup.

I started with Europe and drat are foundry projects expensive. Oh well, all my first two months Meld going into Alien Metallurgy should be helpful in the long run.

Also because you've managed to get critically wounded 2 or 3 times by now and your will is tanked. You're actually still out for 9 more days right now. You will become one with the machine as my first volunteer, and soon you will no longer know the meaning of the word fear!

Should I... should I just Mec absolutely everyone?

Well, apparently I'd be a good candidate, but you have to change my name to MEChophonic.

What's the military retexture pack that Beagle uses and how do I get it set up? I see on the other retexture on the Nexus that the one he uses was taken down.

I wonder if a weird bug was introduced with one of these recent updates. Cause Beagle is missing almost all his 7x% shots, and I was earlier today too. And his usually reliable overwatch troops has hit a whole 2 so far.

Well, this bomb mission has flying+tac sense floaters, which are like 30%s on a good day.

There's a thing with SHIVs and gold moves into the extraction zone. I think MECs have a similar issue if they fire in the extract? I could be misremembering or those could be older bugs.

Have you researched Gauss Weapons? That's what you need to build a MEC grenade launcher in the workshop. It's not a huge loss if you haven't, just get MEC Warfare Systems in the Foundry and build your Archer a flamethrower for the time being.

While we are talking about MECs, what kinda stuff can i do that won't break One For All? So far i see that reloading does not break it, overwatch neither, but i guess it would break once the overwatch fires.

Launching proxy mines doesn't break it, from watching Beagle. And yeah, one for all gets broken by overwatch fire. This deeply worries me when Beagle does it. What happens when a heavy floater runs it, then murders your infantry? :ohdear:

I followed the steps in Beagle's readme and the new textures don't show up. It still takes longer to start up and it seems like it should otherwise work. I had this problem before when someone posted a link to this set of files. Any ideas or something I'm obviously doing wrong?

Are long war patches backwards compatible with saves made on older versions?

I think the current betas don't work with anything earlier than beta 10, but even amongst the 14, you have changes to perk selections that unbalance troops one way or the other if you have selections made already.

As for new soldier equipment - basically, go to your defaultgamecore.ini, Ctrl+F search for "Appearance", follow the instructions in the comments and/or go to my first Live and Impossible Season 2 video and check the description for more foolproof instructions. Don't have an up to date list of cosmetic choices in there though, but I know it exists, maybe on the Long War wiki or maybe on Reddit or somewhere.

Anyway the upload of the camo mod will be done in about 10 minutes from this post being made so if anyone has any troubles with it after that, let me know and I'll try to help!

Punching seems like a bad idea because at that point the sectopod is all but guaranteed to have shock absorbent armor which reduces damage from close-range sources, which would include punch-happy MECs.

Are you sure about that? I thought it was another perk that reduced melee damage, as Beagle found out a few weeks ago when his Goliath got punched for like 17 damage by a berserker.
