I promise, that one day, everything's going to be better for you.

Marvel: War of Heroes is a CCG in the same vein of Rage of Bahamut and is made by the same team.

Get it for Android
Get it for iOS

So why is this any different than any of the number of other MOCCGs? Well the biggest reason is you play with all Marvel characters. All of the cards themselves use actual real Marvel artwork. If you are a comics geek this will hold your interest a bit better than most of the other options out there.

Ok, I have decided to play, now what?

Well the game is effectively a grind in many ways. You progress through ever toughing Missions in which you gain XP, additional cards, items and silver. On top of this you must also level individual cards to improve stats and create a better deck. Every few weeks there are events in which you either do PvE or PvP to compete for special cards and items. Let's break this down to make it easier to digest.

To progress through the missions you use a resource called Energy of which you have a limited amount. Each attack uses a certain amount of energy, depending on the level you are on. You also get a certain amount of XP per attack. As in any other RPG, once you hit a certain amount of XP, you level up. For each level you gain you receive three Attribute points in which you can on addiction Energy, Attack or Defensive points. Additionally you gain a Attribute point the first time you complete a mission and five Ability Points for every Team Member you gain.

Early on you want to focus on spending your early points on Energy and Defense. You can focus on Attack later on once you have a better deck and higher levels, but early on you want to be able to get through levels and defend yourself from losing valuable Silver and Resources. By level 40-50 ish you want to have around 150 Energy and Defense, you don't truly need more than either. After that you can put every point into Attack.

Every three enemies defeated during a mission gives you the chance to gain one of the following; cards (Common or Uncommon), Silver, Mastery Points or Resources. During the Missions you can collect each of the six different colored Resources to gain either a Rare Card or ISO-8 card. Each Resource can only be completed three times.

As of 2-8-13 there are only 21 missions in the game, each having a total of 5 levels and a end boss at the end of the mission.

Now here is the meat of the game, the cards. You can gain cards in a variety of ways; Missions, Rally Points, Events, Trading and Spending real money on in game currency. The cards are graded on a level of rarity.

Legendary - 7*******
Ultimate Rare (UR) - 6******
Super Special Rare (SSR) - 5*****
Special Rare (SR) - 4****
Rare - 3***
Uncommon - 2**
Common - 1*

On top of this there are Alignments to worry about; Speed, Bruiser and Tactics.

The Current Meta in Marvel:

1: Speed has the best attack potential
2: Tactics has the best defense potential
3: Bruiser has the worst defense potential
4: Bruiser has the worst attack potential
5: Players generally favor attack decks. Therefore attack cards are more in demand.
6: Boost to all cards are stronger than self-boost cards in a full card deck.
7: Boost cards are more in demand than cards that degrade attack or defense.

Now you will only gain Common or Uncommon cards via missions, or two Rare cards via each Resource completion, to get the better and more powerful cards you have several options.

First off is the invite card, which you can only get when starting your account, which is currently Jean Grey. This card, while technically a Rare (or later even UR) card, it's stats even when properly and completely leveled does not equal a lesser quality card. It is handy during your early levels though but you will soon replace it.

Next off is Rally Points. Every day when you log in you get a free Rally Points card you can draw, for each additional draw will cost you 200 Rally points. You gain Rally points by either posting on a Team Member's wall or a lesser amount by them posting on yours. You can also gain Rally points via Events and Special Assignments. Rally Point packs can give you any rarity of card but the chances of seeing something SR or above is slim to nil.

The best way to get yourself higher rarity cards is by spending real money. You have the option once daily to spend 100 Mobacoins on a Ultimate Card Pack, after which costs 300 Mobacoins. This is the single best way to get SR and above cards and you should take advantage of the 100 coin pack daily. You can also gain Ultimate Pack Tickets via Events and Special Assignments.

We will talk about Trading and Events later.

Now, let's say you draw a SR Spider-man. Now what do you do? Well on each card there are two things you have to focus on; Level and Mastery. And a lesser amount, Ability Let's talk about Levels first.

Cards can be boosted up using other cards until their maximum level. The following list is guideline on how many levels a card requires to reach its Max Level:

Rarity - Level
Common – 20
Uncommon – 30
Rare – 40
Special Rare – 50
Super Special Rare – 60
Ultra Rare – 70
Legendary – 80

Now to boost your card, you effectively feed other cards, along with Silver to increase the card's XP. You mainly want to use Common and Uncommon cards to do this. If you use a Feeder card with the same alignment as the boosted card, you will gain more experience than if you used a Feeder card from one of the two other alignments. The key here is to make sure that the Feeders you use are aligned because not only will they be granting you more XP per boost, but taking the time to do this correctly will end up saving you hundreds of thousands of silver in the process. This is mostly noticeable when boosting SR and up cards, since at level 35 each boost can easily cost you between 30000 and 50000 silver.

But what about Abilities? Well if you feed a card with a Ability on it, you have a chance to level up the Ability on your card. Now this does not increase the frequency of the Ability going off, it does however increase the amount of Boost or Degrade the card deals. You mostly do not have to really worry about this unless you are in high rankings and have top cards.

On to Mastery, every card has a set Mastery level to reach. Once this level is hit, you get a set bonus of Attack and Defense which can range from 200-700 points. Mastery is gained by either doing Battles against other players or randomly while doing missions.

So you have completely leveled and mastered you SR Spider-Man, and you draw another SR Spider-Man what should you do? Well now you have to look into Fusing.

Fusing is combining two of the same card to increase the card's rarity and stats. Now before we go any further DO NOT FUSE ANY CARDS SR OR ABOVE THAT ARE NOT FULLY LEVELED AND MASTERED! When you fuse a card, it takes the stats from each card, takes a percentage and adds it to the base stats of the new card. When the card is not properly fused you are losing out on a ton of additional Attack and Defense and if you ever look to trade that card, it will be nearly worthless. After Fusing the card's Level and Ability is reset to zero and you must level and master the card again.

Now you have you fancy new SSR+ Spider-Man, which is a Speed card but the rest of your cards are Tactics. What can you do? Well you can try to trade it to someone else for cards that you want or are more useful to you. Unfortunately to pretty much everyone Mobage decided it was a great idea to put a two week restriction on trading to new Team Members and Alliances. So unless you have a middleman of some fashion to use you are stuck waiting two weeks to trade with another player. Mobage has stated that they are working on a Bazaar type system to make trading easier but as of now there is no system in place.

Now you have some cards, what else is there to do? Well you can Battle other players for Silver and Resources. You will generally not gain much Silver via Battles and once you complete all of the Resources you will not Battle for those either. Once you reach a certain point all you will really Battle for is Mastery Points, as you can gain 1-5 points per card each battle. Here is a list of current known high level farm accounts that have a DEF rating of 10 from which you can farm mastery from (in order of higher to lower, 5 – 3. Accounts less than 3 are not listed) I did not compile this list so I can not say with certain that it is up to date.

Events

Events happen every few weeks in the game. Currently there has been two different types, a PvE and a PvP one.

First off as soon as you can, join a Alliance. Most of the Events have made being in a Alliance a prerequisite and the bonuses from being in a Alliance is beneficial to you, via Adapter bonuses, etc.

Each Event has Rewards but during and after it is completed. The Rewards during are ISO-8 Shards which you can spend on a chance to gain the following; Silver, Rally Points, AP and PP Packs, ISO-8 (used to gain 3 Levels for a card) and Vibraium (sold for 10,000 Silver) cards and Raider cards. The post-event Rewards are given depending on Personal and Alliance ranking during the Event, they are limited cards only given during the event and generally have bonuses for the next Event. The better you do during the Event, the better the card you receive.

Let's talk about the different types, starting with PvE. The PvE event you progress through a series of missions, exactly like normal missions. The only difference is that in addition to the normal rewards from every three enemies defeated there is a greater chance for a Boss to appear.

The Boss has a Level, IE the higher the Level the more HP he has. You use one of your Battle Decks to attack the Boss using your Attack Power. The Boss has two Life Meters, one being his Main HP and the other being his Parts HP. Every day there is a different Weakness put in place (either Speed, Tactics or Bruiser) and the Boss takes additional damage on the Parts HP with that Alignment. If you destroy the Parts HP you get a additional bonus of ISO-8 Shards.

If you can not defeat the Boss on your own, you can share the boss to your teammates to help you defeat him. In addition you can help your teammates defeat theirs. You basically rinse and repeat until the Event ends.

The PvP Event is a little more straightforward. Effectively what you are doing is Alliance Vs. Alliance battles. A Alliance member starts a battle you have a time limit to gain more points than the other team. You gain point by defeating other players of the opposing Alliance in Battles. Your Alliance must defeat the opposing Defense Leader first before being able to attack other members. Points earned from defeating other members are determined by level and ranking in the Alliance. A Alliance can attempt to reduce the amount of points earned by erecting Defense Walls which can be destroyed by Raider cards. At the end of a round the winner is determined by the most amount of points earned and the top 3 points earners for each team are given ISO-8 shards which can be split and shared with other members increasing the amount given and spent on the same rewards as in the other event.

The Current Event is happening soon:

Tips

If you are needing Feeder cards the best Missions to do are 2-3 and 2-4 depending on what UC you need.

If you are needing Cards AND Silver do 3-5 and sell all the Enchantresses. You can sell the Mockingbirds as well and just stock up on Wolverines but I tend to think it is not worth it.

If you are need Silver do Mission 4-3 and sell everything. You will average around 187 Silver per Energy Point spent which is the best in the game.

Unless you are going to spend it immediately, keep your Presents of Silver in your Presents List. Think of it as a bank. Only pull it out when needed. As a rule try to keep as little Silver actually on your account as possible. If it is there it can be taken in Battle.

Starting out make sure you worry about your Defense before your Attack. By Level 20 you should have at LEAST 50 points in Defense. Many players neglect this and by the time they reach higher levels they have no Silver since other players snatch it all due to them making themselves a easy target.

Try to aim for no higher than 150 Energy and Defense. Unless you are aiming for High end rankings you don't need any more Defense and any more than a 150 Energy is just wasteful.

Save your ISO-8 cards. Only use them on SR or above cards and towards the late levels, if at all.

After finishing completion of your Resources, donate the extra Resources to your Alliance. It helps you, the Alliance and makes you less of a target for being attacked.

Save all the PP and AP packs you get while leveling up. There is no sense on wasting them until you are higher leveled.

Unless it's likely to be the difference between getting a Dr Doom and not I'd be looking to trade away Surfer ASAP. It's not a great card outside of the raid event and you should be able to get some ridiculous trade offers for it at the moment. As for selling, it's tricky with the two week wait plus the usual worries involved with selling on forums like Neoseeker, but it's worth a shot I suppose. Makes it hard to cash in event cards for good value considering in two weeks it'll be over.

That's a bummer - I was looking to cut one of the card games I was playing and was hoping this would be an easy way out for Marvel. I guess I'm out of luck? Or I guess I could trade for a bunch in-game, but even then I wouldn't know where to start outside of setting up an account on Neoseeker?

So I rated 480 in the novice coliseum after all and got the limited card, all thanks to the goons who set me up with decent cards

I'm going in the elite coliseum this week. At about ten percent of players my odds are much higher even with a deck of only ~4-6 5*'s.

I wouldn't. SR Mystique is really awful, worse than most people realize. People see the same sort of ability as SR Cap or SR Thing and assume the Speed version must be similarly good, but her stats are incredibly low for a SR. A perfectly fused and maxed SSR+ Mystique has a pitiful 7440def. For comparison SSR+ Cap has 8921def and SSR+ Thing has 9097def.

As I suspected the theme coliseum has scared most of the usual elite players away. If you can field a deck you're probably getting a better prize than you would in the master's. I just fought a deck with nothing but level 1 referral cards. Thanks to everyone who kindly lent me their cards. If you ever need me to return the favor someday, let me know.

I wish Squeenix would do more special dungeons. Or at least continue the main quest. I'm getting dangerously close to level 125 and don't want to hit the level cap.

Zydoran: If you can stay under level 19 for the next week and still get a card this week then you'd be guaranteed a limited card next week. You can then try to trade your limited cards for non limited. But it's up to you. The coliseum progression is a very steep cliff in this game. Your team that mops up in the beginners coliseum will be destroyed in the other two. And since three limited cards is the max you will have an small bonus in the elite in that you'll only need 7 5*'s to stay competitive instead of 10.

Marvel: I took Djarum's advice and am holding off on using my power packs. I hope the bonus Dooms show up soon.

I'm hanging on to mine. The raider cards this time around are pretty awful once the event is over and the non-Doom rewards suck. Was incredibly disappointed with SSR Thing, expected Bruisers to finally get their SSR Cap/Ms Marvel.

Thanks for the advice, I will try to stay at level 19, I am 16 now so it should be doable. I might have to burn the rest of my friend points for enough coliseum passes to rate high enough this week for a card but that is ok I think

When you hit the level cap, are you unable to redo old missions for random pass drops? Or is it just a limitation to your progress since you won't get the occasional level up stamina bonus anymore?

As for silver slimes, I have something like 30 of them saved up right now. Would you recommend using them to level up some card I have or trying to buy some decent cards for them?

Definitely. You could save for six months and get a Boon of the Gods, but sitting on the points for that long probably isn't worth it.

Both. You can redo the old missions, there are a specific set of enemy encounters that give the most gp. But since I've used all the treasure chests, there aren't any more free hunting tickets or coliseum tickets.

You can probably assemble a pretty decent team of 4* Aces with enough Silver Slimes. But no one seems to be selling 5* or stat III stones for slimes anymore.

I have a trade offer of my Chaotic Mictlantecuhtli for a Mephistopheles and a Bahamut. Thoughts

Well they seem to be trading for around $15/15pp so I'd aim to swap her for a mediocre SSR before the event ends. Something like Hell Bike Ghost Rider or SSR Wolverine would be ideal. Neither card is particularly good but they trade well to less informed players so you'd likely be able to swap them for a good SSR like Hellfire Ghost Rider/Thor/Prof X.

If you've got something good to trade like an event card make it your rally message and do your whole friends list. I just put "Taking offers on SSR event Thing" as mine and had a bunch of offers in a couple minutes. Invisible Woman isn't quite as sought after as event Thing or Surfer (she suffers from the large number of Emma Frosts in circulation) but you'll still probably get some interest.

Is there any real draw to Marvel besides it being, well, Marvel? I mean, it's literally the exact same game as RoB as far as I can tell. Shamelessly so, even. It's nice that I don't have to stare at waifish fairy boys and nymphomaniac little girls, but other than that, I don't really wanna just scrap all the progress I have in RoB so I can play with Wolverine and Spider-Man cards.

There are a handful of differences, for one evolution/fusion only goes up one step in Marvel (aside from the mediocre referral cards) so you only need two copies of a good card to do a perfect fusion vs up to eight in RoB. (Sixteen if you count the new five step fusions I guess) It's also a LOT easier to get skilled feeders in Marvel. On the negative side no bazaar means trading is incredibly limited with the two week restriction.

Personally I don't find it hard to keep up with both. Takes a couple minutes to log in during the day and burn off all my energy. I leave anything more complicated than that for the evening.

Marvel: I got two SRs myself. An SR Invisible Woman and an SR Ultron from the shard packs. And thanks to Djarum's tips I'm now currently in the SSR Silver Surfer x1 rank. We'll see how long that lasts. The Ultron isn't a raider card is it? I'd like to thank BGrifter for telling me to trade the SSR Jean Grey for the Emma Frost. BGrifter can you get me a good deal on the SR Invisible Woman?

GC: Hey newbies, on Wednesdays you should fight an NPC in town for double GP. There's one in particular who gives the best bang for your buck.

It looks like I'll get a limited card for sure in this coliseum. It's been a lot more easy going than others. They should have a lot more really restrictive themes. Sends most of the jerks over to the Master's coliseum.

Yeah, I'm getting crushed over in the Master's, even with your Fujin - just too many people to make headway. Glad to hear the Barbie's treating you well!

I'm bizarre

GC: Finally finished off that giant. Was sad I didn't get the 5*, but did get an ace Balor...is that any good?

Also is anyone still trading GC stuff for GS... I have a bunch if anyone is still doing that.

You should feel ashamed.

Any Ace 4* will be pretty ok. Depending on the level of competition it can even beat some bad 5*'s. The best non-Gilgamesh card of the Giants is Bune since he has the insta-death skill and revive.

Your best bet for GC stuff for GS stuff would probably neoseeker or GameFAQs. Coincidentally, I'm looking to quit LoC and will just send all my stuff to the next person who wants it. Since I don't have anything above a combined rare.

What does everyone think of the new event? This is what I've been saving my potions for. I hope to get plenty of stones to leverage that into some card upgrades.

Trying LoC has been on my to do list for a while. Gonna be out for a couple hours but when I get back I'll make an account and take you up on that. The icon has been sitting in a folder for a month.

Hoo boy, another card game to keep up with. Cause RoB, Marvel and Guardian Cross with multiple accounts leave so much spare time.

My two weeks aren't up yet so I don't know if you can send me anything, but if you still have LoC stuff on 2/2, I'd happily take it!

Well, I'll gladly split it up. If I get a nice card from my tickets I may have to ask for something. Of course, that's never going to happen.

I don't think there's a trading time limit like in Marvel. So post your IGNs and preferred element, if any.

LoC does have a two week limitation, which sucks. My ign is overseer07. Forest preferred, and thanks!

Will do.

So you're still active in Guardian Cross? How are you doing?

The new dungeon is nice, but I can't wait until they upload Chapter 2 to the international version. It has more story, but more importantly has the reborn system which acts like the fusing system in Marvel, etc. If you combine two of the same type it gives a 15% percent bonus to the stat that is affected positively and a 15% loss to the stat that is affected negatively. It also adds ten more levels and one more skill. It resets the fuser card to level one so you can reskill it, the stones on the cards carry over, but you lose skill stones.

Here's a couple resources for the Crimson Keep: http://guardiancross-forum.com/Thre...eep-screenshots http://guardiancross-forum.com/Thre...ises-Trivia-Q-A

Good luck!

Marvel:

I'm doing pretty ok in the current event. No one seems to have an event SR Invisible Woman in my circle of friends. Have any I can trade for?

Well, I decided to try out Marvel over the last couple of days, and I got an invisible woman on my free 10th level card draw and another on my 20th. I assume there's no way for me to get those over to you prior to the two week limit?
