SatansBestBuddy posted:I was also wondering if we'd had any news on the GBA VC games. I figured after a year or so the ambassador games would be available to the public by now. Nothing has ever been announced except the Wii U is getting GBA games on its VC.

SatansBestBuddy posted:So, I wandered into the eShop for the first time in a few months and noticed there were at least three Level 5 games in there, two of which are on sale right now, and I was wondering if any of them are worth it? I'm particularly interested in that Suda51 game, I didn't know he'd made a 3DS game. If you're interested in Liberation Maiden (the Suda51 game) get it. It's pretty short, but it's worth the sale price.

I just finished The Starship Damrey like 15 minutes ago and thought it was a really interesting little game. $7 gets you this kind of bizarre, atmospheric 1st person sci-fi adventure game akin to Echo Night where you pilot a robot around and solve puzzles. There's no real replay value to the game though, beyond the various minor world building tidbits in the game's "Archive" and some bonus story content by reloading the game after completion and completing a small quest and by having some Guild 01 game save datas on your SD card. I haven't put much time into Crimson Shroud but it seems like a very neat hybrid of JRPGs and table top games.

Aurain posted:I've played FFIII on DS and Android and the IV remake on DS and would say that FFIV is quite unanimously the better game in my opinion. I didn't think this was even a discussion people had. FF3 DS is one of the worst FF games. homeless snail posted:No, they're actually extremely similar mechanically. Both are heavily animation bound, focus on stamina management, and reward players that master the intricacies of their moveset. The structure might put some people off, but I think its safe to say if someone is into DS they'd probably have some interest in MH. Also fighting games, cause both games totally crib a big part of their design language from FGs. I really, really love the Demon Souls/Dark Souls games and I don't like MH that much. I've found a lot of people that say the same thing. I think to me it feels like DS have more than the combat going for them, where MH is 100% about the combat.

Sarchasm posted:Via Twitter, Wayforward just announced that Shantae (the GameBoy original) has been dated for a Virtual Console release. The date will be announced Monday morning, though whether they mean today or next Monday is a little up in the air. Good news though! This is loving amazing! I loved Risky's Revenge so much that I muddled through a .7 speed Shantae on an emulator because it is so awesome (something about Shantae for GBC makes it nigh-unemulatable).
