It's that time of the year. The holidays are over, everything is dark and cold, it seems like there's nothing left to cheer us up... ...that just means that RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE IS BACK!!! WERQ! Last year on RuPaul's Drag Race: 13 Queens stood before us.  We were given some helpful travel tips...  We learned of Latrice's peanut allergy...  There was one hell of a LYFYL...  Willam was kicked off the show, we all clutched our pearls...   And in the end, Sharon Needles won and all was right with the world.  Then Drag U happened... ... Then All-Stars! It wasn't that great, partially due to a stupid decision to pair the Queens up. However, there were moments of fun:    At the end, Chad Michaels won and all was right with the world. (Quiet, you Raven fans. Chad's the best.  ) This year on RuPaul's Drag Race: We've got 14 new Queens to entertain us.  Among them are: Alaska Detox Jade Jolie who apparently did porn in the past... and that's just the start. Looks like a fun season. Who know what else will be in store this year? Ok, so I caved and watched it. I'm really excited for this season. I really liked Jinkx, Jade, and Detox. Also Roxy, for a reason I can't place. Probably because she's cute out of drag. Lineysha seems talented, too. Also, “She thinks that she is very fashion but she’s dresses like a Dracula.” made me lose my poo poo. e: also, Wow, Penny's lip sync was bad. Fist pumping? I thought it went the other way from the comments here, but yeah. Serena actually kinda turned it out, despite her trainwreck of a runway look and awful photo. She at least knew the words, if her lips were a bit exaggerated. Not tucking in your first appearance? Seriously? I agree with RICKON WALNUTSBANE about the editing, though, it really removes the ambiguity. I was expecting Alaska in the bottom, too, but I honestly liked her super dumpster couture, and was surprised the judges did, too. I really like her, and I don't think it's just a residual Sharon boner telling me that. I like something about her attitude, although I don't think she'll stay as long as I'd like her to. I feel that both Alyssa and Coco are plateaued. Anyone else think the rivalry is holding them back? Also- I feel that Roxy's makeup during the runway look didn't make her look fishy at all. I still saw a boy. I agree with Ru when she said Roxy needed to show more rear end. It would've been a more stunning look. Poor Penny. Can someone clear up if the baseless rumor I heard about Kenya Michaels being a woman now is actually baseless? If she is, I lose a bet. This season is the fishiest of them all but I'm not impressed by that. No matter how good you are at makeup and tailoring and all of those things, looking like a lady while having a penis is something that's ultimately innate, not learned, and I think lots of queens focus on being women and not being queens (huge difference) to their detriment. If I wanted to see women in ridiculous costumes with zero personality, I'd watch America's Next Top Model. Maybe it's because there's one more queen than last season but I didn't feel like any of them got sufficient screentime (aside from that feud which I don't care about until I know what it's about; until then it's the worst type of reality TV hook). The first episode is never my favorite anyway because I'm more invested in finding out who's the funniest than the best dressed. So far I'm tuning in for Detox because she's well rounded and bitchy but not overly so, Jinkx because she's like if Milan was good, Alaska because she's the lovechild between Pandora and Tammie, and Jade for her joie de vivre. I'm also impressed by Roxxxy and Ivy, though I want to see how well the queens hold up when the challenges change from looking flawless to making me laugh. There's nothing quite as sad as a man wearing elaborate amounts of women's clothing whose presence still bores you. The lip-syncs had better get better, Party in the U.S.A. isn't the best song for this and the performances themselves were not good at all. Unfortunately, the best songs are being used faster than new ones can be made. Hopefully the producers can take advantage of the dance-music trend and get the rights to some Top 40, Call Me Maybe would be delicious and Where Have You Been is practically tailor made for this kind of thing.

Ivy out of drag looks a bit like Morrissey, and that is way more than enough for me to be on board. I'm almost positive she's the queen we saw on stilts in the preview. That makes me think there's a circus challenge, since we also see Jade rocking a ringmaster-looking ensemble. I agree with the "they've plateaued" comment. They really seem to be holding something back because they're like "oh, that bitch, I didn't sign up for this" or something. Yes you did, now live real fierce and get over it. Untucked is, I think, where the real action will be this season. I'll be surprised if the "queen picks up another queen" isn't either a joke or a feud between Coco and Alyssa.Also, what is with Alyssa's gasping fishface runway yawn? She must have done it three times on the runway and like twice in the previews. Because I'm already sick of it.  I love this poo poo, so glad it's back.

Add me to the Jinkx Monsoon fan club; I was sold after the first verse of Jinkxalicious. As for the rest of my faves, I'm pulling for Alaska. She stumbled over her feelings about Sharon's success this week, but when she's in her element, she's way more cool and calm and dynamic. Also, the bitch has style. Detox seems cool; I was unimpressed by her preview video on Logo's website, but she came off much more dynamic and assured on the show. She's definitely one to watch for me. To a lesser extent I'm pulling for Jade Jolie (+10 for naming yourself after a mortal kombat character) and Ivy Winters (-10 for the facial hair, but she can serve some serious face). Serena ChaCha is every bad stereotype about art students. Working in the art world, I have had more than my share of self-absorbed, affected ditzes like her. BUT, if everyone continues to gang up on her for her obnoxious behavior (and what, exactly, inspired her to hit the ground running like that?) it may end up being the first time I ever hope they keep a character in for the drama. I wanted to root for Penny Tration, but when I looked her up and saw how dated her style was, I knew she wouldn't last long. And that LSFYL simply did not play into her character; a middle-age camp queen like Penny is practically guaranteed to never sell that song as well as an actual 21 year-old. Phooey. Give me a funny queen over a fishy queen any day. Fortunately, we have Jinkx. ETA: Alyssa and Coco, I suspect, will be the "Sammi and Ronnie" of the season (to use a Jersey Shore reference); I don't think they'll kai kai or anything, but their storyline will sputter in place and go nowhere.
