I'm watching yesterday's livestream and christ alive this is looking fantastic.

My only criticism so far would be that the sound effect for the warp drive used to be very abrupt/aggressive and seems to have been softened a bit too much - the earlier style seemed much more badass, like you're smacking spacetime with sheer violence in order to get where you want to go which kind of fits with the attitude of your fleet.

That is all I can find to criticize :)

I totally agree about coming out of warp. I need to beef it up. It worked much better when there was a state change from tactical to the cockpit. Now it's a bit like warping in EVE since you're always in the pilot's seat, but more violence is on the to-do list. Violence is always on the to-do list.

Some of the best spaceships in film had the most horrendous engine noises, Mr Tie fighter I'm looking at you. Think 'throaty growling', and I think you tap into something primal.

It's "primal" and "throaty growling" because it's a modified/layered elephant scream! :D

What a childish tactic!
Don't you think you should put more thought into your battleplan?!

And the Millennium Falcon's engine noise contains a lion roar. The foley work on Star Wars was amazing. Another example is the blaster sound effects were high tension wire being struck with a metal object.

Whole thing is worth a watch.

Didn't mean to imply that it wasn't awesome (It's actually pretty iconic now), but it's not a pleasant noise.

I read that they got some components from an A/C fan in a motel room they were staying at...Maybe for Slave rather than the TIE?

Part of the blaster bolt shot was something like hitting a wrench on a high-tension wire. Ben Burtt is basically a sound wizard.

He meant "horrendous" in a good way, just like people were talking about the "violent" warping sound effect earlier. The second sentence in his post is a hint to this effect if you care to look for context clues.

It's actually really informative when you watch someone play imperfectly, because that's how we'll be playing 90 times out of 100. It looks really great in motion. I feel like I've got the real feel of the game for the video. However, this does nothing to change my opinion. It's still a minute one purchase for me.

You jammiest of gits, atleast you didn't ram into anything until well over halfway through. Incidentally, the music in the game is amazing and the sounds are superb and I just cannot wait to throw money at the game, mostly just so I have something to play with my new joystick and Rift.
