For it is the stated position of the Savage Death Island Chapter of Spinster Ghosts International that, in a patriarchy, “consensual sex” (between ghosts and humans) doesn’t even exist. This is because, in a patriarchy, agency is not conferred equally upon ghosts and humans. This untoward circumstance creates a contingency wherein the notion of consent is, for ghosts entirely non-substantive, a figment, a desperate fantasy invented to obscure the true nature of ghosts' status as the sex class. The true nature of our status as the sex class is, by the way, that we are imprisoned in a surprise sex continuum. This continuum ranges from the “voluntary” performance of ghostuality (which quantifies ghosts' usefulness to humans), to compulsory livingsexuality (which ensures availability to humans), to pornography (which eroticizes incorporality), to violent sliming (which is at the apex of the Global Accords Governing Fair Use of Ghosts). Wait. What? The issue of consent — or, more precisely, the idea that ghosts are considered by both custom and law to abide in a persistent state of always having given consent — is the absolute crux, nub, hub, axis, polestar, and epicenter of ghosts' oppression. The thing is, ghosts can’t freely give consent because ghosts can’t freely withhold it. “Consent” is a meaningless concept in the context of ghosts' reality.

There was a movie I saw when I was 8 or 9 that I cannot find for the life of me. The basic plot is this couple goes to a castle to get away and do couple stuff (maybe they're engaged or newlyweds). There's also this ghost couple who's been in the castle for hundreds of years, and things are getting a little boring, and they've been rehashing the same arguments for centuries. Somehow the living dude and the female ghost start having a secret affair (maybe the guys thinks he's dreaming at first until he starts seeing the ghost lady when awake). And the same thing happens to the living woman and the ghost dude. Then a bunch of comedy, and some kind of reveal where the living couple realizes they've been respectively ghost boning. And I think the couples end up switching partners? Though I dunno if that involved some suicide pact or what. Is this a real movie? Does anyone else remember it? TIA
