Good Times

Nice OP. As for the game, I renamed my useroptions.ini and got a fresh one, reduced the renderdistance and turned flora off, and it is performing a lot better so far. I'd rather not turn off the shadows if possible but we'll see.

Liking the new bases so far, the spawn protection and tunnels are already making defense an option. Now they just need more than +10%xp as an incentive. The one place I haven't seen much difference is in biolabs. Either the people defending were idiots or they're still really easy to spawn camp.

One thing that's annoying me is taking damage when jumping on enemy vehicles. I jumped on an empty sunderer earlier to C4 it, and lost my shield and 80% of my health. Wasn't a long fall or nothin'.

Going to go see what it's like after the hotfix.

So now there is no reason at all to ever equip the ammo pack. Well thats ok I guess.

I am sufficiently satisfied with my new system's performance. Coming from sub-10FPS and finding myself getting a steady 60 in the warpgate and 30 outside of huge fights, it's like having someone pull the blindfold off to show me what I was missing. Now to tweak my graphics settings for even better performance (gently caress you, foliage) and hope for the best.

Any word yet on when they'll fix the "turrets that aren't part of magriders don't work" bug?

After talking with quite a few people who have tried the fix i'm coming to the conclusion that for anyone who tweaks their Useroptions file, the best option might be to keep track of your personal settings and let PS2 create a fresh Useroptions file every patch.

Once the new Useroptions has been create it you can tweak the new file based on your old settings.

Or you can just fix the renderdistance back from 999999 and leave the rest of it alone.

Oh.
Just gonna chalk that up to the lack of decent previews of how the camo really looks on your soldier as a poor excuse.

What are your specs? I had ~20 FPS in big fights. Now I have ~25, but in biolabs and poo poo I got sub 20 FPS, which is worse than before. I got no shadows, no foliage, everything (I think) on lowest.

Phenom II X4 965 at its stock speed, GTX460, 8GB of DDR3. It's by no means a hardcore gaming PC. Big fights, biolabs included, still bring it down to around 20-25FPS.

What's it called by the way just so I know?
Got like 519 smedbucks left so I might just buy it or some other camo.

And I think letting the game set my new useroptions file gave me an FPS boost as I did have like almost 50 to 60 in the warpgate even if it did dip to like 20 when I joined a large fight. Gonna have to try out some other configs later on.

You can safely jump onto vehicles from barely above jump height, but no higher. Also if the vehicle is moving even a tiny bit it will smash you into paste. This also happens with friendly vehicles, and the owner will get credit for the kill (but no weapons lock ).

Is that " drat, this is really good"

or

" drat, why am I doing this to myself"

Because for me, the NS-11 was the latter. Despite its wide range of attachments, I was very much so not impressed with the gun.

Very nice informative OP, Giggily, but I noticed a minor typo.

Giggily posted:

The Mosquito is the Terran Republic’s ESF. The Mosquito is by far the fastest fighter in the game, matching the Scythe or Reaver’s potential on its default frame. The Mosquito’s firepower is tied closely with the Scythes, and its afterburners are similar as well. In terms of firepower, the Reaver has nothing particularly special, outside of higher rate of fire weapons.

Well my performance has gone way up since the hotfix. Unfortunately I'm getting constant crashes and disconnections during any fighting.

I can't stay mad at SOE though, I'm still on a high from this 100% functional grenade launcher.

thehumandignity
Aug 17, 2011

You see? 10 bucks. I could have bought 2 new titles with that.

It's also funny that it says the mosquito doesn't have any impressive firepower, except for higher ROF, when the word firepower literally means rate of fire.

e: well it doesn't literally mean that but in the context of a single vehicle with a definite number of weapon systems (IE: 2) that is basically what it means.

If it had a bigger magazine size it would be better, other wise I prefer the Corvus.

This is why performance poo poo the bed for a lot of people. They may have made some optimization tweaks but then added a whole buncha new crap for people to render, leading to possibly no gain.

Well yeah, it's a ghetto Gauss Rifle! I trialed the Corvus and I like it, but it really should fire a little faster for what it actually does. The Pulsar is so drat reliable and quick on the reload, though--It really matches my current playstyle, which is probably why I love the new NC Cyclone so much.

Should mention that engineers now profit from the ammo pack certs with the "mana turret" ammo pack. So instead of it being default level3 it now uses your actual certed level.
