It's that time again! Time to dodge bottles of what was beer a few hours ago, a hundred thousand borrachos in green shirts and giant sombreros, enough red/white/blue garbage to fill all the dollar stores from Seattle to Sasardi, better grass in the stands than on the field, altitude, smog, heat, snow, rain, all in the name of being one of three (or four) teams that make it to Brazil next year. Actually, this is the fourth round, also known as the Hexagonal or Hex round, of six teams, each playing a home and home. The first three rounds came over 2011 and 2012, and honestly let Wikipedia break it down better than I could. Short form is we stagger this over several play-in rounds to weed out the smallest no-hopers first. Top three teams go to Brazil, fourth team gets a playoff vs New Zealand, last two teams stay home. YOUR TEAMS: USA Mexico Jamaica Panama Costa Rica Honduras YOUR GAMES: 2/6/13: Honduras 2 USA 1, San Pedro Sula Panama 2 Costa Rica 2, Panama City Mexico 0 Jamaica 0, Mexico City 3/22/13: Honduras 2 Mexico 2, San Pedro Sula Jamaica 1 Panama 1, Kingston USA 1 Costa Rica 0, Hoth 3/26/13: Costa Rica 2 Jamaica 0, San Jose Panama 2 Honduras 2, Panama City Mexico 0 USA 0, Mexico City 6/4/13: Jamaica-Mexico, Kingston 6/7/13: Costa Rica-Honduras, San Jose Jamaica-USA, Kingston Panama-Mexico, Panama City 6/11/13: Honduras-Jamaica, Tegucigalpa Mexico-Costa Rica, Mexico City USA-Panama, Seattle 6/18/13: Costa Rica-Panama, San Jose USA-Honduras, Sandy 9/6/13: Costa Rica-USA, Pablo Wanchope Memorial Gravel Pit Mexico-Honduras, Mexico City Panama-Jamaica, Panama City 9/10/13: USA-Mexico, Columbus Honduras-Panama, San Pedro Sula Jamaica-Costa Rica, Kingston 10/11/13: USA-Jamaica, Kansas City Mexico-Panama, Mexico City Honduras-Panama, San Pedro Sula 10/15/13: Costa Rica-Mexico, San Jose Jamaica-Honduras, Kingston Panama-USA, Panama City If there's no city name after the match, that means the venue is still TBD. This post will be updated as that stuff gets announced, as will final scores. Field conditions are a huge part of team advantage in this region, so look for games scheduled at seemingly inconvenient times (like Honduras-USA at 3pm local time) to maximize heat, rain, obnoxious fans, etc. In the middle of this, it's also a Gold Cup [off-year, B-listers] and Confed Cup [Mexico reps this year] year. Also, look for some friendlies and whatnot scattered about, particularly with the US, which is celebrating the federation's 100th birthday. WHERE THE HELL CAN I WATCH THIS Everyone outside the US, please feel free to share what channels are airing games in your area. I can only answer for the US, where home games are ESPN/ESPN2, Mexico games are ESPN/ESPN2, and any other away games are BeInSport. HOW CAN I GET TO GAMES Also a US-specific answer from me, but check American Outlaws. They'll have information about ticket blocks for home games, travel packages for away games, and viewing parties for those staying at home. LET'S PARTY! I'm pretty excited for this to get started. I hope to make it to my first USA game at some point in the Hex, but school and location could make that tough. (I still say a game could be played at Razorback Stadium just fine...kidding). Squad gets announced tomorrow morning, right? I'm curious to see who all made the cut after that game with Canada. I'm also hoping Jamaica sneak a draw with Mexico. That'd be amazing.

Jorge Luis Pinto is retarded and Bryan Ruiz is made of glass, I'm not very optimistic. The two main networks here will show most games, you just have to figure out on which channel. http://www.telenoticias7.com/envivo.php http://www.repretel.com/envivo Not sure if they will region block this but they usually don't.

Hoover's day job must be as lax as mine E: I like Boyd too but I agree with a lot of the media guys that this is a get in/out affair. Costa Rica squad: Porteros: Keylor Navas (Levante/ESP), Patrick Pemberton (Alajuelense) Defensas: José Salvarierra (Alajuelense), Cristian Gamboa (Rosenborg), Michael Umaña (Saprissa/NOR), Johnny Acosta (Dorados de Sinaloa/MEX), Giancarlo Gonzalez (Valerenga/NOR), Roy Miller (Red Bulls/MLS), Bryan Oviedo (Everton/ENG), Christopher Meneses (Alajuelense) Mediocampistas: Celso Borges (AIK/SUE), Osvaldo Rodríguez (Santos de Guápiles), Ariel Rodríguez (Pérez Zeledón), Cristian Bolaños (FC Copenhague/DEN), Douglas Sequeira (Saprissa), Michael Barrantes (Aalesund/NOR), Rodney Wallace (Portland Timbers/MLS), Bryan Ruiz (Fulham/ENG) Delanteros: Randall Brenes (Cartaginés), Álvaro Saborío (Real Salt Lake/MLS), Joel Campbell (Real Betis/ESP), Jairo Arrieta (Columbus Crew/MLS) If Pinto starts Navas in goal I'm gonna have a meltdown (he will). Defensively I think we look pretty good, and with Gamboa in the squad hopefully Salvatierra doesn't see the pitch. Celso sucks but he's gonna play because his dad was a legend. Douglas Sequeira hopefully is there just to tutor the younger guys and won't even put on his boots. Hoping Rodney keeps up his national team form. Sabo and Campbell should start up front. No Arrieta please. e: my choice lineup would be Pemberton; Gamboa, Acosta, Gonzalez, Oviedo; Bolaños, A. Rodriguez, Wallace, Ruiz; Campbell, Saborio. I've heard some folks are calling to see if Game On in Fenway or any of the Tavern in the Square locations have it. Parlor doesn't open until 7, so that's most likely out. It's extremely unlikely I'll be able to get to see any of the game no matter who's airing it, but I do agree with your assessment of the Banshee.

Nobody cares more about local clubs than the national team, the guys who play abroad care more about their club (I'm looking at you Bryan). They are also overrated just because they play abroad and selected over local dudes regardless of form (see Navas, Keylor). Also Pinto is retarded and doesn't really have a system, he has called up like 80 different players and doesn't really stick to any tactical system. Also Costa Ricans can't cross, that's scientific fact. Against the US the game will probably be at the Saprissa because for some reason you guys are scared of that shithole. e: apparently no campbell, gamboa or oviedo in the starting lineup for tomorrow
