Seriously, the first 80 laps were pretty consistently good racing going on. If you thought it was poo poo, you have totally unrealistic expectations.

That race was great for 80 laps. Underfunded team looked like it was going to win, hard racing, gambling on stops. Everything the Allstar race should be.

The last 10 laps was everything the Allstar race is. Johnson making GBS threads on the field because he likes to ruin everything good in the world.

Edit: You know what. gently caress it. I hope Gordon wins like the rest of the Allstar events for the rest of his time racing. That way at least loving Johnson won't be the leader in career allstar wins.

And Kurt giving the most unbelievable interview. Because he should be bitching like hell and for once been completely justified in doing so.

Indy being a loving great race once again and the World 600 being a repeat of 2009 or something would be the best thing.

My DVR hosed up right before the last segment started and skipped to the end, just in time to see Jimmie getting out of the car in victory lane. Welp, guess thats done. Back to loving with the $18 Palm Pre I bought while drunk.

Side by side racing for 5 laps, going 15 laps single-file with some attempts to pass, throwing a caution and repeating was awesome.

That might be more indicative of the format, but probably not if the other 1.5 milers are examined.

Your dvr recorded everything relevant. The last 10 laps was Johnson restarting on the inside and pulling away. You miss nothing not seeing it.

Cheese-Buyer's Remorse

Once Jimmy left the pits you knew exactly how the last ten laps would go. If only the Busch brothers had managed to stay ahead of him, then one or both of 'em would have blocked Jimmybot into the wall and then someone interesting might have won instead.

Yea but with the 48 team dropping 11.8 pit stops and everyone else north of 12.5.... Its not hard to figure out where hes is going to leave the pits.

I apologize, I need to rant here.

I realize I'm an Indycar homer to a fault, but I did grow up as a NASCAR fan. I was a fan. I loved the sport, the commentators, the drivers, the tracks, everything you could list.

I hate what it's become. Tonight is a clear example of why I think that way.

I didn't feel once like I was watching a car race. I felt like I was watching NFL: The Racing Series.

To see the fan vote go to a loving corporate spokes person over an actual driver is a loving disgrace. To see what happened on the last 10 laps? Well, it made me feel like I was watching a god awful formula 1 race with "Team orders" being issued.

NASCAR has some serious problems it has to work though. poo poo racing and STILL trying to be like the loving NFL is costing the sport fans. Judging by the attendence for tonights event? I think we can conclude that's true.

How was it like the NFL?

Other than Danica got voted in by the fans and that makes you real angry, which has nothing to do with being like the NFL?

e- I figured it might be understood, but in case it wasn't, you should come, too.

Wow, this race brings back a lot of memories. Thanks.

I know people argue the racing wasn't that much better then, but I remember a hell of a lot more anticipation and excitement for pretty much every race, especially the big races. Now days it's pretty much a "meh" attitude towards every race, it's like nobody gives a poo poo anymore.

I use that as somewhat of a blanket term.

The NFL represents to me, in the world of sports entertainment the most middle america/corporate friendly sport on the face of the earth. It's been that way since the 60's.

Does it have to do with the quality of the overall sport? Not really. I feel the NFL consistently puts out a decent product (despite the fact the Cleveland Browns exist as a franchise).

I think NASCAR trying to be like this has damaged the product, because it was designed to not be like the NFL. Things like the Chase, the next gen of cars, cookie cutter tracks that exist in metro areas like Kansas, Texas, etc seem to be all stemming from NASCAR doing exactly that.

The country concerts that we as fans are subjected to seems eerily similar to how the NFL handles the Super Bowl, Pro Bowl and Opening Weekend.

I forgot how bad I used to hate Ernie Irvan. Jesus he was horrible.

[edit] It's funny how memories come back watching that race, when Mikey went low and passed the cars in trouble for the lead I realised that was the Winston that he won and shocked everyone as well as myself. That was a cool race in '96 and still is.
