Z is the new C

Wednesdays 10/9c on TNT

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fb399hYyYRY

From the website:

quote:

Head back to the streets of Los Angeles for the new, explosive season of Southland, the critically acclaimed drama series from Warner Bros. Television and Emmy-winning producer John Wells (ER, The West Wing). Chronicling the lives of LAPD officers and detectives like no other series on television, this powerful, intensely emotional drama stars Michael Cudlitz, Shawn Hatosy, Regina King and Ben McKenzie, along with special guest star Lucy Liu.

Since premiering in 2009, Southland has redefined the police drama with its raw, authentic look at the lives and work of Los Angeles detectives and beat cops. The show centers on four main characters: Officer John Cooper (Cudlitz), a seasoned cop who will have to prove himself again after recovering from surgery; Officer Ben Sherman (McKenzie), who still has much to learn after recently completing his training rotation; Detective Lydia Adams (King), whose unending caseload hits closer to home; and Sammy Bryant (Hatosy), a former detective who decided to go back to being a uniform cop after the traumatic death of his partner.

Shot on location in the streets and neighborhoods of Los Angeles, Southland captures a realistic, natural environment where similar situations can and often do occur in real life. The series was created by Emmy winner Ann Biderman (NYPD Blue, Public Enemies) and is executive-produced by Emmy winners Christopher Chulack (ER, Third Watch) and John Wells. Chulack is also a primary director of the series, while Jonathan Lisco (The District) serves as executive producer and Andrew Stearn (Shameless, The West Wing) is co-executive producer.

Need to catch up on previous seasons?

Season 1 on DVD is $29.99 and Seasons 2/3/4 is $59.99

Season 1 is also available on Amazon Instant Video for about 8 bucks, which is a way better deal than the DVD. If you don't go for HD, 2/3/4 comes out to be about 10 bucks less on Instant than the DVD collection.

So pumped for Season 5. Southland's been one of my favorite cop shows since it started. NBC made such a huge mistake cancelling this show after season 1.

This was a triumph

I wasn't sure if this was coming back after season 4, so I'm excited to see this. Almost all of the story threads are suspenseful and well done. I think Southland is one of the most overlooked shows on TV. Any word on number of episodes ordered?

10 episodes. I wish they had longer seasons but I'll take the quality over quantity.

I kind of like this show.

Also, I'm glad it's on wednesdays. I think last year it aired at the same time as Justified.

"But I've been twelve for a very long time"

Very very excited that this show is back! I agree, it's probably hands down, the best show that no one is watching, which is a shame because as an LA native, it's also one of the most accurate portrayals of Los Angeles I've seen in a TV show.

Oh yeah, and for a show about the nitty gritty life of LAPD law enforcement, it's loving HYSTERICAL

I recently watched S4 again, and everyone should watch this shoe forever because it's SO GOOD.

Who would have ever though Ryan Atwood would finish at Berkeley and leave the Cohens forever to become a hard-rear end LAPD officer

I thought he became an architect or construction worker or something like that.

How did I miss this thread. Popped into the Chat thread to call out the premiere, and was graciously linked here.

Easily one of my favorite 5 shows on TV right now, joining Justified which recently started its new season as well. Also, C. Thomas Howell will finally be a regular cast member.

A thousand times this.

Echoing the 'Thank goodness it isn't on against Justified again' sentiment. SouthLAnd is an excellent show, and everyone should watch it.

This is a front row seat to the greatest show on earth.

The ending of "Code 4" still gets to me.

E: Also, Cooper breaking down outside of his car after dropping his pills.

E2: Or Coop getting his neck bitten off by the PCP fucker.

(Okay, almost every episode has a pretty mind-loving scene)

The end of "Graduation Day". Actually, all of "Graduation Day". One of my top 10 all time episodes of TV ever.

God, I can't wait for this Wednesday.

Forgive my loss of character names, but the cop killing by glass bottle/cop surrounding by a shitload of gang members and the rooftop chase/fight are two of the most white-knuckling, most intense moments of TV ever.

That would be the end of "Code 4" and "Graduation Day", respectively, actually. (Season 3 was loving amazing)

Can't forget "Nate Moretta, motherfucker. Nate Moretta" as his killer bled out. That was cold.

TNT has four episodes of the last season starting at 11 if any nocturnals want to stay up after Justified and get pumped up for tomorrow night.

Suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

The first episode of this show I saw was Code 4. You want to talk Trial By Fire.
