![]() This thread is for the show that is very much and as well as known as Kroll Show. [/Bobby B] Wednesdays at 10:30pm EST on Comedy Central, after Workaholics. Nick Kroll, best known for his portrayal of the character Rodney Ruxin on FX's The League, has a new sketch show on Comedy Central. This is the first of a new batch of shows where Comedy Central has given up and coming comedians a chance to beat the odds and create a successful and funny Comedy Central original series. Jeff Ross got his own show last summer. Other upcoming shows focused around one comedian include: Anthony Jeselnik's show, Amy Schumer's show, Ben Hoffman's show and Nathan Fielder's show. Let's stick with this one, for now. We don't have a choice yet, anyway. I'll make a thread for The Jeselnik Offensive and Inside Amy Schumer when they air. So far, 4 episodes of Kroll Show have aired. 1/16 - "San Diego Diet" 1/23 - "Soaked in Success" 1/30 - "Secret Room" 2/6 - "Too Much Tuna" Nick Kroll will be reprising his role as the characters El Chupacabra, Gil Faizon, Fabrice Fabrice and Bobby Bottleservice, while playing new characters like Liz G. and Dr. Armond, to name a few. You'll also have characters played by Chelsea Peretti, Ray Wise, Tim Heidecker, Andy Milonakis, Jen Slate, Fred Armisen, and many more. Some sketches you may be familiar with: Rich Dicks and The Ed Hardy Boyz and Oh, Hello. So far there have been some instant classic sketches, in my opinion, including: - Wheels, Ontario - The Spotted Ox Hostel - The Adventures of Young Billy Joel - Ghost Bouncers (featuring the Ed Hardy Boyz) Anyway, I wanted a place to discuss this show each week with fans. I didn't like Kroll's stand-up special the first time I watched it. After watching several episodes of this, however, I re-watched it and I appreciate it much more. His style is subversive, to say the least, maybe even polarizing. But it's definitely worth watching an episode or three before you write it off because "Thank You Very Cool" was not your cup of tea. There are clips of the show available on the CC website, but they do not do it justice. The best sketches are often segmented into 2 or 3 parts throughout the show, and you will not find them in their entirety online. Right now, my digital cable has all 4 episodes On Demand and his special, Thank You Very Cool. So check yours. Note: This show was picked up for a second season in its second week, so Comedy Central is already high on it. Here's a fun interview by Jen Slate (the comedian best known for saying "loving" in her SNL debut) of Nick Kroll. They are old friends and it is obvious when reading the interview. http://www.vulture.com/2013/01/jenn...kroll-show.html And here are all the logos from the opening sequence: http://www.tvovermind.com/tv-news/a...roll-show-logos Please do not make a comparison to Chappelle's Show. Nick's style is very much his own and he is not trying to replicate a show that is 10 years old. escape artist fucked around with this message at Feb 7, 2013 around 11:01 |

I've been very impressed with the show so far. Publizity and Rich Dicks are excellent, and the gatorade-dunking from the second episode was perfect.

My brother and I love this show as well. Glad to hear it's already got a second season, more Jon Daly is more delight. Edit: Except the shot of his rear end. I could have lived without that one. Mozi fucked around with this message at Feb 8, 2013 around 00:26 |

Seeing a show called "Kroll Show" is really weird because I have a friend who works for a company called Kroll (Nick Kroll's dad founded it apparently) and I keep thinking the show is about his company.

It's confusing for me too, because my last name is Krull, pronounced almost identically. Really threw me off when the ads started.

Thread is surprisingly positive so far. Was expecting idiots making GBS threads on it and calling it a Chappelle Show clone (because Dave Chappelle invented sketch comedy). If you're coming at this show only knowing Nick Kroll from The League, expect to be disappointed. I'm probably getting this wrong because I heard it second hand but Kroll said he doesn't really like playing Ruxin because it just isn't his type of character. I kind of think this show is (indirectly) for fans of his appearances on Comedy Bang Bang. If you haven't heard CBB, go listen to his appearances. He's great. I thought the first episode of Kroll Show was a bit weak, he didn't spend enough time on each sketch and jumped around way too much. But it's been getting better with every episode. He does great character work, and he's really serious about his art. The only parts I don't like are the Liz & Liz sketches (can't remember the name), but it led to that great dog plastic surgeon sketch so it evens out. And yeah, rich dicks is the best part of the show. Jon Daly is amazing - why doesn't HE have his own show? e: this post was weirdly negative even though I set out to write a positive review so feel free to ignore everything above this line: KROLL SHOW IS GREAT Conduit for Sale! fucked around with this message at Feb 8, 2013 around 15:54 |

Some of his characters get on my nerves, but overall, I find the show pretty entertaining. It's definitely not the Ruxin show, but that doesn't make it bad at all.

Yeah, apparently his dad has two companies, and sold another one of them for $1.9 billion back in 2004. Still waiting for Fabrice Fabrice to make an appearance. This show is probably my new favorite comedy show. Without fail it usually has me laughing like an idiot within 30 seconds. I have a hard time eating tuna sandwiches now without proclaiming its "too much tuna". It is frightening how accurate his parodies are.

Fabrice Fabrice on the street is amazing. I love how everything exists within its own world, as we saw on the "Can I Finish" show-- Dr. Armond, Captain Jack, the pony tale guy, all in the same show.

I started the first episode and didn't really like the show, but then I got bored and watched the rest and now I love it. I think the Liz & Liz skits put me off (oh god I am the demographic monster).

Show is really hit or miss for me. Half the skits make me hope no one walks in and sees me watching it, the other half make me laugh pretty often. I think my favorite skit so far has been the Ghost Bouncers. BOUNCE THIS GHOST!

Can I finish is probably my favorite sketch so far. Andy Daly owns so hard.

Oh man, I didn't notice this thread. Kroll Show is loving incredible so far, with a really very high Hit/Miss ratio for a live action variety/sketch format. And the best segments are absolutely vicious and throwing down satire sharper than anything on CC since Onion Sportsdome (RIP...)

The sketch mocking The Black Eyed Peas selling out was SOOOO on the money that it was a work of art. I hope comedy central gives him some time to find his voice as it has potential.

I totally agree, in fact I was considering making another post to specifically praise that unambiguous Black Eyed Peas takedown. It was glorious and merciless in perfect synergy. Also gave Tim Heidecker another opportunity to show off his sweet character actor chops where there's no risk of awesome show-style poopie doodoos tainting the tone of a sketch!

Ghost Bouncers stands out as a favorite ("Stay right there, painting!"), though every episode of Rich Dicks has been genius. "Give me my cocaine!" Traveling in Europe, Young Billy Joel, Dr Arnond's adventures...everything is awesome, even Publizity which is a shockingly accurate satire of vapid reality shows on Oxygen and We. I even love his ending screencap "Good at Bizness" because it's so perfectly Kroll. So excited for a second season!

I think my favorite part of the show is, strangely enough, Publizity. It's the way they say the word Amazing. Not only how often they say it, but the way they pronounce it. "Uhmayyzeen." It's amazing.

My favorite part of the reality parodies are that the writers are unmercifully hateful toward the worthless archetypes they're skewering.

Every different skit has its own unique feel, and it's spot on with what it needs to be. It's just spectacular. Also, guys, Jeselnik's new show starts tomorrow night. Any Jeselnik fans up in here? I'm thinking of starting at thread for it.

Just rewatched this weeks episodes, and "Drones" is one of my favorite skits now. I hope it becomes a reoccurring segment. Having 2 incompetent guys bumbling their way through drone-strikes sitcom style is pretty funny.
