Who the hell is Dirty Fresh?
So if you haven't heard of Dirty Fresh, I wouldn't be surprised. I am Jake, one half of the EDM group Dirty Fresh. My partner Dan is also a goon (username: d0grent). On February 5th we released our debut Self Titled EP with Heavy Artillery Recordings! It is available on Beatport now, and it will be available on iTunes February 19th. We are pretty proud of how the EP came out and also extremely proud of landing such a great label to release it on. Heavy Artillery is a well respected major dance music label that has had multiple releases chart at #1 on Beatport. In fact Beatport has decided to make us a Featured New Release, and if you head to the Electro House section of the website you can see our EP right on the main page. If you like Electro House there is a very good chance you will like what our EP has to offer. We are pretty heavily influenced by artists like Mord Fustang and James Egbert, and you can definitely hear it in our tracks. The EP itself has 4 tracks and does a great job at displaying everything we love in our dance music. We feel our writing is not only catchy, but also steers clear of the cookie cutter sound of what we like to call "College Girl House". I won't go into too much background detail about us as a group to keep this thread more focused on the EP, but we have some other material you can check out on our Soundcloud page.

More about the EP
The EP has 4 tracks and they are all available to be listened to in full on our Soundcloud here: Dirty Fresh - Self Titled EP

Mirrors: Mirrors is strong start to the EP. If you like Mord Fustang, you should feel right in your comfort zone while listening to Mirrors. That's not to say its a carbon copy of his style, but it does carry his sort of tone and vibe. It's a slightly longer track but you would hardly notice because it keeps your attention the whole time. Mirrors is a great example of what we feel we do best; keeping things in the "dancey" realm while still remaining complex. Complete with a sweet half time breakdown, Mirrors manages to keep changing and evolving while still remaining the same song and never feeling like one part is out of place. If you aren't dancing by the end of this track you may want to see a doctor for your ear infection.

Dancing Plague of 1518: Dancing Plague of 1518 is actually named after a real event. It is also the first original track we ever wrote! It manages to feel dark while still sounding poppy, all while being easily the most Complextro sounding track on the EP. The bass is hard and driving and there is an overwhelming amount of glitchy vocal stabs and samples being thrown at you the whole time. Once you hit the break after the first drop in this track your face is smashed with huge chords that shake your rib cage. These chords lead you right into the second drop which is different from the first and is much more notably glitchy and complex. I think this very well could be the first EDM track to ever reference a historical event from the 1500's.

Easter Island: Easter Island is most certainly the most cookie cutter sounding of the 4 tracks. Through the entire track you will note the excessively dancey tone. This song is very much a pure bread Electro House track. We named it Easter Island because we thought that the bass sounded like giant talking heads chanting tribal songs. This track has the longest breaks on the EP and is a song that builds tension very well. The first drop is catchy and is complimented by violins, and the second drop is more driving and "big room" sounding. If you are looking for a crowd pleaser this is the one. Anyone without any extensive music snobbery (AKA festival kids) will instantly fall in love with this track.

Concrete Walls (feat. Night Bandit): Concrete Walls is the only song on the EP that has vocals. We teamed up with our buddy Night Bandit for this track and you can easily hear his influence in the writing. Yes the lyrics are bad. But they sound cool! The energy in this song is hard and driving and the bass will slap you in the face. We have heard people say it reminds them of Zedd, though I don't hear it. The second break has a pretty sick rear end drum line going on which builds into the second drop which has an intense wobble bass. If there is one song you fall in love with on this EP, it will probably be this one. Side Note: Night Bandit is really awesome and also won the Ryan Enzed remix contest recently. You should check him out.

By now you have probably realized I am a terrible music critic, and even worse at reviewing my own songs. So feel free to tell us what you think! We are aiming to chart in the Beatport Top 100, so we would really appreciate it if you took a listen to the EP and hopefully purchase it. Here are some links:

This is actually spectacular stuff, really digging the sound. You've definitely captured a lot of the parts I like about Mord Fustang and Shreddie Mercury and that very chip-tune vibe. Bought a copy!
