We must carry this in our hearts: that what we have is special, that it can be taken from us, and that when it is taken from us, we will be tested. We will be tested to our very souls.

With luck, I'll actually be at Stevens Point this year.

The Portesi's...shall be mine.

You forgot the part where

Goons all decide the answer is correct and phone it in confidently
One lone goon appears in the chat channel and says "Wait no don't I just found something..."
Another confirms his story and everyone gets sort of somber and the initial few people apologize about their answer
Everyone forgets who or what the question was ten seconds later because here comes the next question

Five questions later...

The chat all groans in unison when it is announced how many points the real answer would have netted us.

Also the more fun part where they announce the scores and everyone waits through the seemingly hundreds of names for ours to appear then we all cheer when we realize how much we've gone up in the ranks

EDIT: Oh, and about a hundred links to the baby grease picture per hour.

I won't be there in person, but I sure as hell will be on IRC.
I've got a fairly robust Looney Toon knowledge base in my head, so this may be a good year (though not as good as if it were Tom and Jerry, which I have the full set on DVD.)

To newcomers: The trivia questions are intended to be 'google proof'. Last year we showed that they believe that only because they never had enough dedicated people on the same team trying enough variations.

We cracked the top 20 against over 200 teams composed of people who literally spend all year building up basement libraries of potentially useful facts for the contest. These people: http://youtu.be/qKrzJlxVYg4

Yes, evidently you had misperceived it as rain.

I watch Loony Tunes daily ever since my 4 year old decided that that was his new go-to brain rot. I will do my best to assist.

We almost cracked Top 10. Our highest was 12 last year, which we held for at least 9 hours (minimum)

We lost 2 ranks in the last 6 hours only, so we definitely have some weight to throw around behind our name.

Nothing is done on the forums, everything is in IRC, forums are too slow and too public for the competition.

We occasionally post updates bumping our position and trying to get more people but that's about it.

We actually go into security lockdown shortly before and during the contest. People on other teams take this VERY seriously (and we do too, somewhat), so putting a spy into an open-recruiting team to steal tough answers is absolutely on the table.

Also, the theme represents maybe 5% of questions, MAX. Last year was "True Grit", and we got questions about obscure Halloween candy from 2011, singers of the 40's and Reese Witherspoon's loving imaginary friend, a question which I believe only Reese Witherspoon could answer.

Yeah, this ironic love of furries is a bit much. I really would prefer a team name that has nothing to do with people in animal suits loving other people in animal suits. I've come to accept the Fursuit part, but the yiffing is meh.

Tokyo Yiff'd is really the only logical name for us. As long as they make Fast and Furious movies, we should keep punning them up. While I respect the wishes of anyone who actually chooses to represent us, being worried what a joke-trivia-team name means is awfully silly.

That being said, it's silly to really care what our team name is either way, so I'm cool with whatever.

The real question comes down to whether we want to be up for "Trivia Focus" or not, and who talks on the phone.

Please note that some people are local and have to explain to their family members that their team is ironically being named regarding people in fursuits having sex with each other.

Please chose another name so that i don't have to explain that to Grandma, thanks in advance.

If I recall correctly people were kicked unless they linked their relatively old profile or something.. So no regs from the day of or the few days before it.

I remember being asked for credentials.

Team name idea: Fatal Furry 3: Terrier Bogard and the "Hungry" Wolf.

However, if we really are worried about goons being portrayed as furries (because goon-furries totally don't exist, and it'd be silly to recognize something that doesn't exist), we can go off in a completely different direction. Speaking of which...

Backup team name idea: "This Beverly Cleary is my sandwich, Bathsheba." When all else fails, refer to an obscure one-line reference from Homestar Runner.

You were asked to register your IRC nick and give your forums account to get voice in the main channel (and not get kicked). The channel must be muted while questions are going on, so having voice is the only way to suggest answers.

I think we unmute the channel during down time because I remember someone from team thicko coming into the channel and chatting for a while.

I'll be in again this year. Maybe I'll know another question this year. Honestly the best way to win is have a huge group of people so we have a greater collective knowledge. I'm amazing at trivia but these questions are so hard the only one I remember knowing off the top of my head was the name of the pop the pig boardgame. It would be fun if goons in each region picked a bar that was wifi and trivia friendly and had mini goonmeets.

The people at the radio station are pretty much mumble fucks with their mouths and mispronounce the simplest of words, which is where Buane's question comes from.
