Another person had the exact record we needed and was able to run down and grab it to look on the inside cover for a small sign. Maybe watching that marathon of Horders will pay off this year.

Everyone is welcome to stop in and see what they can do.

Yes, it sounds like having hundreds of people working from their *homes* will be massively more effective than those same people all in one room. If a lot of questions are about a product or item that there is a 1% chance a specific individual might have in their house, then if you have 300 people online posting FROM their house the chance of at least one of them having it is pretty good.

Can you actually get the radio broadcast at your house? Would you be willing to be our second radio stream source?

This year I'd like to see that be a bit more redundant. I picture there being two different stream channels in Mumble so if one goes down (technical issues, power outage, etc) we have some people in the other channel listening to the nearly identical backup stream.

I could try doing this as well, I imagine. Either thru radio or the cable access broadcast.

Having goons from around the world helps too. I vaguely remember someone from Europe helping us with a picture question in Trivia 42. There was a logo that we couldn't find the source of until he or she remembered that it was from an airline.

I want to suggest everyone get a better client for use if you're going to be on pretty frequently. Web clients generally have stupid interfaces, random timeouts that poo poo up the channel, and just suck in general. Feel free to ask in this thread as to how to set up these clients for use. I'd be happy to help with mIRC.

No. You must use a client and register your nick to receive voice in channel. You will be kicked from the room otherwise, unless someone can vouch for you, I guess. Still, cgiirc sucks and will poo poo all over you.

Depends on what kind of line out you have. Could be RCA stereo to 3.5mm if we're talking about going to a line in on PC.

Everyone forgets who or what the question was ten seconds later because here comes the next question

Five questions later...

The chat all groans in unison when it is announced how many points the real answer would have netted us.

Also the more fun part where they announce the scores and everyone waits through the seemingly hundreds of names for ours to appear then we all cheer when we realize how much we've gone up in the ranks

Probably won't even need to do this as I think mumble can pick up your line-in if you have a non-crap sound chip in your computer. Otherwise VAC is going to be the trick -- make your Line-In hook to your "Microphone" so Mumble can listen to your Mic input and get the radio feed.
