This iPPV is purchasable over at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/njpw1972 ! The event costs 25 dollars and the cost not only provides with a live viewing of the PPV, but also replay ON DEMAND for an entire week. The event happens 2/10 at 15:00 JST/1 AM EST, meaning, precisely 6 hours from now ![]() ![]() The iPPV starts with the usual CHAOS multi-man tag team match, it'll serve as the crowd warmer and nothing else. Expect lots of high-flying, YOOOOO-HOOOOOOO's, lariats, Ric Flair impressions and announcer bullying shenanigans. Of note is the fact the great Yuji Nagata is on this opening match, don't expect a lot of high-level drama with him, because Yuji is an expert at playing his part, be it Main Eventing or Curtain Jerking. ![]() The rivalry between these two teams has been going on for a while. Back in August, they had an amazing match that ended with the Forever Hooligans winning at the end and retaining their championship. Later, last November, these teams faced again and this time the TimeSplitters managed to win the title in a whopping 6 minutes of rear end-kicking. This match is gonna be the tie-breaker of these two teams, and it should prove to be a good (and hopefully not short) classic Junior Tag Team bout. ![]() Way back in 2009, Ryusuke Taguchi won the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship. He didn't hold it for long, and ended up losing it to Wataru Inoue, since then, the Junior Heavyweight division evolved exponentially year by year, with wrestlers like Low-Ki, Prince Devitt and Kota Ibushi joining the fray, leaving a relative old-comer like Ryusuke behind. Ryusuke has had a few opportunities to get the Junior belt around his waist again, including when he won the Best of Super Juniors 2012 last year, but he has never managed to win the big one. Tonight he has another chance, this time against his friend and former Junior Heavyweight Tag Team belt holding partner, who has come out of an impressive win in a triple threat match. Ryusuke Taguchi has been rumored to turn Heel for months, perhaps even years. Meanwhile, Prince Devitt just beat the champion Hiroshi Tanahashi cleanly in a tag team bout, and has been groomed to be a top-level contender for the big title. ![]() Since Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Lance Archer joined together as the dominating foreigners from Suzuki's Army, they have been a dominating team. Beating the likes of TenKoji (twice!) and Hirooki Goto and Karl Anderson. Tonight they face TenKoji for the third time, in what is expected to be another dominating performance from the "Killer Elite Squad". That said, TenKoji can never be counted out. These veterans have been together since 1999, they're both former World Champions and have held the IWGP Tag Team Championship multiple times, while also having a great showing on other promotions, including a win in AJPW'S Real World Tag League 2008. ![]() These two men have held a small grudge against each other for a while and last weekend this match was announced. Expect a good Togi Makabe style brawling match, as per usual. ![]() In a big surprise, the great Laughter7 are back. One month ago, in NJPW's big Wrestle Kingdom 7, both Katsuyori Shibata and Kazushi Sakuraba held losses in their special matches, it was then reported that they had both been signed in secret by NJPW's then owner Kidani. Kidani had a falling out with the booking team and the NJPW's roster due to this and he stepped down because of it. Later down the line, Shibata had a big win against Takeshi Morishima in Pro Wrestling NOAH for the GHC Heavyweight Title. Things were looking bleak for Laughter7 in NJPW, but out of nowhere it was announced they'd be teaming again against Wataru Inoue and Hirooki Goto. Laughter7 are, basically, a team of MMA invaders, their gimmick is that they are hated by everyone in the roster and that they have a very stiff and uncooperative style, which helps them get heat with the crowd. The story of this match is interesting, as Shibata and Goto have been friends since their teenage years. This fact has been played up in Television, which leads me to believe this might be the beginning of a feud between the two of them. ![]() Last TV show, a big rivalry between CHAOS (Kazuchika Okada, Shinsuke Nakamura, Toru Yano, Jado, Gedo, Takashi Iizuka, Tomoro Ishii, YOSHI-HASHI) and Suzuki's Army (Minoru Suzuki, Lance Archer, Davey Boy Smith Jr., Taka Michinoku, Taichi) started. A honorary Suzuki's Army member, Kengo Mashimo (from Kaientai Dojo)) has been booked against IWGP Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura in a non-title bout. Expect an awesome bout between these two, possibly MOTYC. ![]() Also part of the rivalry between CHAOS and Suzuki's Army is this big match. Okada is the top star of the CHAOS stable, having had a great 2012 in which he became one of the fastest growing stars of the business, a IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, a G1 Climax winner and a Main Eventer of the last Wrestle Kingdom. He faces Minoru Suzuki, a fighter who has had his ups and downs these past few years in NJPW, including two title matches against Hiroshi Tanahashi. Both of these guys have had phenomenal matches, including dozens of MOTY Contenders and a 5 star match between Hiroshi Tanahashi and Minoru Suzuki. There is no chance this match won't be a blast to watch and a Match of the Year nomination over in this thread, so check it out. ![]() Hiroshi Tanahashi has just come out of a big victory against Okada in Wrestle Kingdom 7 after a great year as a champion, "Machine Gunner" Karl Anderson, meanwhile, has had a fairly big streak of losses in the past few months. The story of this match is that Karl Anderson beat Hiroshi Tanahashi in the G1 Climax Semi-Finals a few months ago, in what was considered a huge upset. Hiroshi Tanahashi seemed to not forget this, as he was the one to challenge Karl Anderson for the title bout. It was last year in this exact event that the unthinkable happened as Okada beat Tanahashi in a star-making colossal upset that gave a kick-start for the entire year (befitting of the "The New Beginning" name), Karl Anderson is not expected to win this match, but is it a possibility that, for the second time in a row, the unthinkable happens? Either ways, expect a great main event between these two.

I won't be able to watch the show live but I'll definitely catch the replay. New Japan is by far the best promotion in the world right now and they deserve the cash.

I'm eye-bleeding this one at 6am GMT, I was thinking about just sleeping and watching it on demand but then I remembered how much fun it was live for Wrestle Kingdom. Hopefully NJPW can take over the MOTY thread 2 months running.

I'm really excited about this impending CHAOS and Suzukigun war. Okada and Suzuki could steal the show along with the intriguing IWGP Junior defense. Don't know if I'm going to stay up for the entire show, but I hope that the earlier start time doesn't hurt Japanese buys and helps foreign ones!

Its fortunate this is Sunday morning instead of Monday morning like last time.
