My advice to new people is to buy a Cent-A and fill it with SRM's. After you get the hang of that playstyle if you want to go faster and be sneaky pick up a Raven-3L and learn to scout. If you want to do more damage get a DDC and set it up to brawl. After that you'll have poo poo figured out to the point where you can make your own decisions.

The game is overstuffed with heavies and assaults right now, so being able to do 90kph, outmanoeuvre those big bastards and remain 100% effective with no arms and one side torso gone is really useful. Here's hoping the trebuchet is as much fun.

^^^ I'm excited to have Splattachets running around at 90KPH or w/e. The Cent-9A is a great 'mech to pilot, but it has a specific playstyle that requires you know what you're doing. You're tough and can popsicle like a beast, but if you run into the brawl like an Atlas you'll get stomped. The Hunch-SP is still a fantastic start mech simply because of how versatile it is, and is definitely worth taking while you are learning the ropes. Interestingly, it seems pubbie spais found this thread faster than most WoL goons knew it existed. If it isn't clear and you're confused about getting into WoL, here is how it works. Goons like playing with Goons. This is because if you can hang around these forums, post like someone who isn't functionally retarded, and have a good sense of humor, you will get along well with other goons. It is a filtering mechanism. The idea is that people not join these forums just to win at robots, but rather to coincidentally find out, after already having been around here for a while, that other members play gundams.

Ok, first time running the Raven 3L... I am in love. Only at Newbird #1 and my first game involved me killing a dumbarse Awesome, and coring the gently caress out of a Stalker and 2 Ravens for my team to kill. New OP 'Mech builds confirmed for finest kind. Win 8 loving eats your previous win7 install even if it is on a different drive. I installed 8 over the weekend then realized it was an enterprise disk so my key wouldn't work, and I couldn't go back to my win7 install. QQ. Win8 is surprisingly fast when paired with a brand new system and giant SSD  Also, I'll be getting my 6970s back from RMA this week, so hopefully I'll finally get my loving 30" surround going. gently caress nvidia and their surround drivers. poo poo don't work unless you have 3 exactly identical monitors. They drat near have to come off the assembly line together.

The on and off part I have read about being a complete bitch to deal with, but my problem lies in the fact that I have 2 dells and 1 hp. Apparently the hp has the opposite sync polarity as the dells. And my dells are 2 different models. All 3 monitors are 2560x1600 60hz but when I try to span them, the drivers tell me to gently caress off. Had I known the drivers for surround were so lovely compared to eyefinity I probably would not have bought the 690, but oh well. I'm just gonna go back to the crossfired 6970s and wait out the 8000 series cards.

Also during beta I was one of the guys on the MWO forums constantly tweaking the user.cfg file squeezing as much as I could from it. I have not played in a couple of months but you can read around, the performance is much improved now.

The brand new dell I got has a bright pixel, so I have a new one coming this week. I'm going to test it with 2 u3011s and my u3008 and see if the card plays nice with that set up. It'll be interesting to see, but in the end I think I'm just going to use my 6970 crossfire set up until the 8000 series come out. I originally bought the 6970s to run 3 23" samsungs and it did what it was supposed to, but in the end I didn't like the 16x9 ratio of the monitors, or that they were tn vs my 30" ips, so I went back to the 30" and single monitor. I was able to snag the hp 30" from work when it was going to be recycled, so I bought a third 30" monitor. This all happened after I had bought the 690. Had I done a little more research I'd have bought a 7970 and not had the headache of the 690, but at the time I wasn't planning on doing surround. E: the 7970 will run pretty much anything you want.
