Now to see if anybody checks the wreckage of the factory to find a completely unharmed infant who is actually their biological parent. And to the Cold War people, if this happened a few decades ago how likely would this have triggered WWIII? 100% certainty? I know Russia's safety protocols were always much laxer than ours; they didn't need to phone the Kremlin like our guys would need to call the President. ....what if this thing burst near Moscow? Would it have set off their Dead Hand system?

The Tunguska blast has been mentioned, but there was a similar event in Egypt thousands of years ago. The explosion was so hot that it instantly turned the sand into glass. It was only discovered when someone took a closer look at some of the stones used in jewelry of the ancient Pharaohs. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/...gypt-glass.html There was a pretty cool documentary about it some years ago.

One thing taken for granted in the United States and Europe is traffic policing, something that is lacking in Russia given the amount of corruption and general incompetence on the part of Russian police forces.
