I'm looking for Acolytes unafraid to use their minds and investigative ability to bring Heresy to justice! This will be a 1 shot adventure for dark heresy taking place in a massive city, the precursor to a hive. You may use any supplement for Dark Heresy except ascension obviously. Looking for 4 people total. Not first come, first serve. #ACOLYTE will get preference. Starting XP: 600, Point buy on characteristics Starting Thrones: 600, equipment from supplements is allowed. Sell back original gear @ half cost. Characters have been together for: 1 mission. You were recruited a month ago. You got put through a basic 'raid' to assess fighting ability and then thrown to the wolves on your first mission. You will have had a month to get to know your fellow party members. Name of your Inquisitor: Inquisitor Ballast Croix, who you have never met. You were recruited by Senior Acolyte Maxilis. How much backstory should I write: I dont want to read your novella about how dark and special you are. Please write a description of your character, the basics of why you are in your profession, and some interesting things about your person. Most characterization comes out in play anyways. Party size: 4 Party Time: until ???? ![]() quote:The eighth is an unremarkable looking man in his late thirties. He is clean shaven, and freshly washed, but his equipment and the look in his eyes belies the true nature of the man. He had seen and done a great many, terrible things. He is Senior Acolyte Maxilis, right hand to Inquisitor Ballast Croix. Jerkface fucked around with this message at Feb 19, 2013 around 05:29 |

![]() If you knew what to say, and who to say it to, life on Quaddis was pretty easy. Just a few minutes of time, hours at the most, and you were set for a month. No you frenzbrain, get your mind out of the downstreets. Not prostitution. Grifting. When somebody is looking for fun, looking for a thrill, they have money. Money they plan to spend. The better the thrill, the more they want to spend. The trick was to find someone gullible, with money to spend but not enough to make your life hell. Not the truly rich. Someone well off, on vacation, but someone who looks like they had to save up to get here. Someone not jaded enough or sophisticated enough to know if somebody is talking groxshit. Of course, it works better if you aren't trying to grift an Inquisitor who is on the hunt. Now? Now I have to work for a living. For -him-. Better than a prison term, bossman was at least amused instead of pissed off. I -never- want to piss him off. Still, living rent free, food provided. Girls aren't much, and I miss all the non-stop life of Quaddis. But a guy needs to stay alive. And until this Inquisitors leash comes off, I belong to him. Appearance: Blonde hair and green eyes, wears a beat up jacket made of some kind of leather (beast hide), with a pair of semi-clean not-quite-tight pants and a simple loose dark shirt. The jacket conceals a rather large handcannon. Personality: Likes getting the better of people without them knowing it, but doesn't want to stick around to deal with fallout. Not so much a coward as non-confrontational. He doesn't like pain, so combat isn't his thing. He enjoys pumping people for information, convincing them he is their friend, and once he has info, will lord his finds above the other acolytes, and be rather annoyed if someone else found the same info. Its all a game to him. pre:Name: Zaddion 'Zad' Castus Home World: Hive World (Quaddis, Pleasure World) Career: Scum Divination: "The wise man learns from the death of others" Increase Int by 3 Experience Remaining: 0 / 600 Advances: Rank: Dreg Awareness + 10 - 100 Dodge - 100 Barter - 100 Agility + 5 - 100 Fellowship + 5 - 100 Rank: Outcast Inquiry - 100 Characteristics: WS 20 + 5 = 25 BS 20 + 16 = 36 S 20 + 10 = 30 T 15 + 5 = 20 Ag 20 + 10 + 5 = 35 Int 20 + 12 + 3 = 35 Per 20 + 14 = 34 WP 20 + 10 = 30 Fel 25 + 18 + 5 = 48 Wounds: 11 Fate: 3 Corruption: 0 Insanity: 0 Skills: Awareness + 10 (Per) Barter (Fel) Blather (Fel) Charm (Fel) Common Lore (Imperium) (Int) Deceive (Fel) Dodge (Agi) Inquiry (Fel) Speak Language (Hive Dialect) (Int) Speak Language (Low Gothic) (Int) Talents: Ambidextrous Basic Weapon Training (SP) Melee Weapon Training (Primitive) Pistol Training (SP) Traits: Accustomed to Crowds Caves of Steel Hivebound Wary Gear: Hand Cannon w/ 40 rounds Knife Beast Furs Street Wear Lho Sticks Rotgut Booze Throne Gelt: 17 FireSight fucked around with this message at Feb 19, 2013 around 07:50 |

![]() Trantia Kalta Living and labouring on Lathe-Hesh, the individual designated as 86-TR K37 was discovered to exhibit what was for a tech-priest unusual talent for social interaction with with those outside the Adeptus Mechanicus. Her talents were soon put to use. She was fitted with significantly more discreet versions of of the usual mechanicus implants, and ordered to negotiate with outside parties on behalf of the mechanicus whenever it was necessary. Due to her interest in the teachings of Arch-Magos Paracelsus Thule, she often ended up negotiating on behalf of explorator fleets originating from the Lathes. It was during one of these negotiations when she first caught the eye of the inquisition. A simple deal, regarding the sale of a few pieces of ancient technology discovered on a dead world by an explorator fleet to the inquisition, something she had done dozens of times. This time would have been no different, except for the inquisitorial representative, who Trantia in retrospect though had been a bit too well charmed. Senior Acolyte Maxilis had spotted Trantia's combination of intelligence and ability to talk people into agreeing with her as something the inquisition could use, and swiftly drafted her to the service of Inquisitor Ballast Croix. She almost petitioned her superiors in the Adeptus Mechanicus help her avoid it, but made the conscious decision to view the change in her situation as an opportunity to further the Quest for Knowledge. pre:Name: 86-TR K37, aka Trantia Kalta Career: Tech Priest Homeworld: Forge World Divination:"A suspicious mind is a healthy mind" Rank:2 XP (Spent):600 (600) BS:35 WS:10 S:20 T:30 Ag:25 Int:50 Per:33 Wp:38 Fel:45 Wounds:12 Fate:1 Corruption:0 Insanity:0 Skills: Speak Language (Low Gothic) Tech-use Literacy Secret Tongue (Tech) Trade (Copyist) Inquiry Charm Logic Medicae Common Lore (Machine Cult) Evaluate Forbidden Lore (Archeotech) Scholastic Lore (Cryptology) Talents: Melee Weapon Training (primitive) Basic Weapon Training (Las) Pistol Training (Las) Electro Graft Use Technical Knock Traits: Mechanicus Implants Fabricated Flesh Stranger to the Cult Gear: Metal staff Knife Glow lamp Data-slate Mechanicus robes Spare parts Vial of sacred machine oil Flak Jacket Flak Helmet Combi-tool Medikit "Fury" Assault Laspistol 2 charge packs Injector 105 Thrones Alternative options used: Factor of the Lathes alternative rank Disciples of Thule background package XP spent: Disciples of Thule -100 Simple Int -100 Simple Fel -100 Inquiry -100 Charm -100 Medicae -100 Waci fucked around with this message at Feb 20, 2013 around 12:29 |

Modesty Orthesian![]() Modesty is a slender girl who often covers herself with layers of thick robes. The robes serve a twofold purpose of concealing her weapons and armor as well as hiding her mutations. Modesty was the protege of disreputable Arbitrator Roth Jezail before she was taken into the Imperial Inquisition. Modesty has developed Roth's lack of moral compass, but she is cautious by nature and generally tries to find a nonlethal means of solving problems. Airick Maltes![]() Airick grew up on the Rogue Trader Vessel Unending Knowledge. As his father before him, Airick was a scribe and copier for the Rogue Trader, a one Mathias Crane. Mathias was a man interested in accumulating knowledge of all types. He traveled across the Expanse, interacting with Xenos and exploring worlds, trying to find artifacts and information dating back to the Dark Age of Technology. The Dynasty made its money through selling this information and technology found to the Priests of Mars. However, before those things were sold, it went first to Airick and dozens of other scribes to be copied, cataloged, organized, deciphered, and filed away. Airick was one of the least efficient of the scribes, as unlike his peers, he would spend his time reading through what was brought in, instead of blindly copying it. He read of long lost civilizations, technology that exists only in descriptions, and names like Horus. Airick is at his happiest reading documents and data slates, and was valued, despite his speed of work, for his zeal to learn. Everyone hated it however, when he felt the need to tell everyone about what he learned. Airick encountered the Inquisition and Maxilis, when Maxilis investigated Mathias Crane on behalf of Inquisitor Ballast Croix for rumors of being a devotee of Tzeentch. Crane was of course clear of all taint, but Maxilis was impressed by Airick when during the investigation he was able to recite many of the writings by memory, and talked of things Maxilis hadn't heard of. Airick was quickly recruited after that. pre:Name: Airick "Rick" Maltes Home World: Void Born Rogue Trader Vessel Career: Adept Divination: “Die if you must, but not with your spirit broken.” Increase Willpower by +3 Characteristics: WS 20 + 9 = 29 BS 20 +11 = 31 S 15 + 8 = 23 T 20 +11 = 31 Ag 20 +11 + = 31 Int 20 +16 +5 = 41 Per 20 +15 +5 = 40 WP 25 +14 +3 +5 = 47 Fel 20 +12 = 32 Wounds: 10 Fate: 3 Corruption: 0 Insanity: 0 Skills: Speak Language (Low Gothic) (Int) speak Language (Ship Dialect) Literacy (Int) Trade (Copyist) (Int) Common Lore (Imperium)(Int) Common Lore (Tech) Scholastic Lore (legend) +10 Pilot (Civilian Craft) Talents: Pistol Training (SP) Light Sleeper Unremarkable Traits: Charmed Ill-omened Shipwise Void Accustomed Experience Spent: 600/ 600 Advances: Archivist Scholastic Lore (Legend) 100 Simple Advance Intelligence 100 Simple Advance Willpower 100 Simple Advance Perception 100 Pilot (Civilian Craft) 100 Rank: Scrivener Scholastic Lore (legend) +10 100 Gear: Stub Automatic and 60 bullets Flack vest Administratum robes (Common Quality Clothing) auto-quill chrono data-slate backpack Glow Globe Throne Gelt: 10

"The psyker? He's cool, I guess. They're all a bit twitchy, and while I've heard of all sorts of crazy stories all the psykers I've met have been relatively safe. He and I are going to get along fine, as long as he knows I'll put a bullet in his head if he gets compromised. I'll expect the same, although since my brain isn't rooting around with the Warp, I think I've got a significantly lower chance of that happening." "Throne, if I hear one more fact about the ship, about my old guard unit, about the weapons I like to use, about whatever, I'm gonna flip out. The guy knows a ton, to his benefit, and when it comes down to it I know who to rely on for intel, but where's the loving off switch?" "Mod, I like her. She and I might disagree sometimes on whether or not shooting someone dead and dumping the corpse is easier than trying to talk our way out of a situation, but her head's in the same place as mine. The mission matters, and I'm not going to prance about with moral considerations. I don't think she will, either, and that's somebody I'd have at my back anytime. Yeah, she's a twist, but who gives a poo poo? There's about a thousand other people who aren't mutants that are last on my list for backup."

No, I didn't mean anything by that, your Worship. "Anyway, I assume there will be others, yes? Only three this time? What can you tell me about them, sire? "I'm sorry Lord, I believe I dozed off there. No matter; I'm sure I will meet them in due time. Thank you, your Excellency." "I know psykers are a bit jacked in the head, but Pax seems more messed up than is safe for someone who can shoot fire out of his eyes or whatever. I know I ain't got much room to talk about being abnormal, but the guy is a nut. Always muttering to himself and poo poo. I hope it is the Emperor he is chatting with, not any of the other crazy poo poo that hangs out in the Warp. I am making sure to always keep a spare round just in case the guy totally flips his lid." "Grimace is a good guy. I always got on with guardsman pretty well. Probably because they are used to seeing mutants and poo poo so they don't say anything stupid to piss me off. He is a bit trigger happy, but honestly that don't bother me much. I would rather avoid having to shoot up the place, but it is better that than making GBS threads yourself every time some rear end in a top hat pulls a gun. If push comes to shove I think he has my back, and that is really all that matters in this line of work." "I don't know what to think of Maltes. He just kind of rambles about all kinds of random poo poo most of the time. Sometimes I want to just tell him to shut the gently caress up, but honestly he is kind of in charge when it comes to the actual mystery solving. He seems like a nice enough guy, though. Never really gave me any trouble, and he ain't missing a few screws like the psyker. Shame he can't shut the hell up."

"This Pax fellow intrigues me. My ship had astropaths, but I never met one. So many stories about them. Of course unsanctioned psykers are dangerous, but Pax has been taken in a black ship and sanctioned, so all should be well." "Grimace is good at what he does. Well I think he is. My actual knowledge of individual and squad level tactics is limited, though I know of many great Guard victories. If his valour is anything like those of the histories, we should be fine." "I am curious about this Arbitrator, more than the psyker. Not many great histories written about Arbitrators. While my ship did make landfall many times, I never went planetside, never had to when all the history and data was on the ship. Can not wait to see them in action."

As the wars rage across the surface of Tranch, and the local forces are ground down by endless battle, the Calixian authorities frequently demand regiments be raised from nearby worlds to reinforce the Imperial ranks. Landunder, just across the sub-sector border, is a frequent subject of these orders, and its rulers are only too happy to send men and women off to war to ease the hives' crushing overpopulation problems. When battling recidivists, or worse, mutants, it is only right that the Ministorum accompany such regiments in force, providing chaplains to look after the fighting men's hearts and souls. The wars never end, but men grow old enough that their bodies can no longer bear them. After a long and respectable military career, Father Solon de Angier mustered out with the veterans, to live in the growing hive upon Tranch, the world he and his men had bled that the Imperium might keep. His Ministorum connections secured him a fine pension, and some juvenat attention, that time might claim him slower than others, and he might live to enjoy a life of peace and contemplation of the Imperial Creed after his days of war. He teaches now and then at the local seminaries, entertains the hive-children with stories of his military days, and corresponds with the surviving Landunder veterans, of which there are fewer every year. His life is good, but he misses serving the Emperor, rooting out the darkness in the hearts of the Emperor's flock. So when a man named Maxilis contacted him, asking if he would be willing to take up arms in the name of the Throne again, he did not hesitate. He is seventy-six years old, but thanks to the juvenat there is strength in his arms still, and his mind and eyes are sharp as ever, and so he took his hammer down from his mantle, and put on his old trench.
