![]() "WAIT WHAT!? gently caress YOU AKION GLOCKS AREN'T WARM AND FUZZY!" ![]() "Wait... that's not a Glock?" ![]() ![]() So, I bought a 422. But this one has a bit of a backstory. This gun was bought by my dad in the 90's, and was the first gun I ever shot. I'd been asking him over the last few years to sell it to me, but he was hesitant to do so. Anyway, I posted in the General Questions thread that he had recently bought an NAA .22WMR derringer for carry, and that I was a bit concerned about the .22 WMR being suited for self-defense. After a few days chatting with him, he mentioned that the big issue he has is that he needs a gun he can carry in his pocket because of flexibility issues, and that he realized the .22 Derringer was a mistake. He also mentioned he really liked the Sig P238. Fast forward to me at the shooting range a few days ago and noticing they had a Sig P238 behind the counter. I called my dad up, and long story short we worked out a deal where he got a Sig P238 and I got $350 and the 422 (he legally bought the P238, so no straw-purchase shenanigans were involved). I came out of it with a 422 with a lot of sentimental value, and the warm, fuzzy feeling of knowing my dad isn't carrying a .22 anymore. Also, I really liked the P238 and may go get one for myself, now.

Nice buy! Every time I see a 422 here the longing starts again. My great-aunt has one that I get to borrow, though . She has six inch version with the same grips, which is seemingly hard to find for a decent price around here. Now get an EWK barrel-nut and a can for instant

Oh man, 422s have a special place in my heart. It was my first gun I got when I was 15. It was suppressed and I shot the gently caress out of it, like thousands of rounds. Broke the firing pin too in the process. Sold it for a CZ-122, also suppressed which I proceeded to shoot the poo poo out of as well. So nice gun, really digging it! Made me feel warm and fuzzy inside

Dammit now I'm sad again that I missed out on a 622 6" barrel for like $250 near me a couple months ago.

Gonna take it apart and clean it (for what is probably the first cleaning it's had in 10 years) tonight. Naramyth posted:422s oooowwwwwwn I definitely prefer the Target model over the Field model (Field has non-adjustable sights and plastic grips). I'd love a field model as a general-use .22 handgun, though.

Nice! My stepdad gave me a 422 for Christmas this year. NIB that he forgot he stuck under his bed a decade or so ago. I was gonna do a box thread but it would look the same as yours.

I have been looking at a beat to poo poo one in my local shop. They have it priced at $225 with a rough finish, 6" with plastic grips. Is it fun enough to bother getting it for $200?

They shoot very well, and the trigger is nice. I prefer the target model for the grips/sights, but for a generic plinker the field model is awesome as well. Magazines are shared across the 422/622/Model 41, so they are fairly easy to find. I also kinda have a thing for the barrel-down design, it's kinda cool to me. Mad Dragon posted:welcome to the party, pal! Hell yeah. I'd love a 622 as well. They look really classy with the target grips. How does that optic mount attach?

Mad Dragon posted:It replaces the right-side grip. Ah, I see it now. I was originally looking at it like it clamped onto the frame inside the trigger guard. That's kinda neat.
