A few months ago, every time I went to plug in my Captivate to charge/download/whatever, the phone would crash and turn off. If I would unplug the charge, remove the battery, and then reboot, the phone would work fine, until I plugged something in again. Then, the process would just repeat itself. The only thing I can think of doing was a factory reset, which seemed to clear the issue. Unfortuntely, the problem came back just a few days ago. Now the phone randomly acts as if the SD Card was removed, even when it was just sitting there for hours. This happens a few times a day.

Some Google-ing has shown that this seemed to be an issue when the phone first came out with a certain batch of phones being physically defective, but I somehow doubt that it just developed this issue randomly. I've been extremely careful with the phone over two years, so there's no physical damage. The little slide door for the charge port is missing, and my next attempt at a fix will be a cleaning of the port just in case, but I was curious to see if anyone else had a clue as to what could be wrong.

I always hated that guy.

Have you tried another SD card? Maybe it went bad. Or maybe the phone killed it.
