Blade Symphony is a 3d dueling game on the Source engine made by an indie studio called Puny Human Games.
It's currently in beta and the pre-orders ($15) are available. If you pre-order, you automatically get access to beta and can invite a friend to it as well.

This video is a pretty good summary and explanation of the game mechanics, so I suggest you watch that first. Keep in mind that it plays much more smoothly than it looks on video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tL91WBFkflw

Features:
  • 4 characters with their unique moves and playstyles. Currently 3 available in beta.
  • 3 stances for each character, which you can string attacks to and from freely, as well as multiple charge attacks for each stance.
  • 3 blade types with their own movesets and properties:
The katana, which multi-hits when your blade cuts through the enemy, and lets you block attacks by holding the right mouse button.
The foil, which is great at thrusting attacks but does not multi-hit. Right mouse button feints an attack.
The jian, which combos really quickly and lets you intercept attacks when you have good timing with the right mouse button. Doing that gives you an advantage briefly.
  • Parry system: when your swords clash, the strongest stance has a brief time to follow through.
  • Do acrobatics like jumps, dashes, rolls, backflips, wallruns.
  • 3 maps with 3 dueling arenas each. You can switch between with one click and no loading times. You can even see other people duel at the same time as you in some maps.
  • 1v1, 2v2 and FFA(?) game modes.
  • Ladder system with global ranks.
  • Training mode. (Currently disabled in beta)
  • Spectator mode.
  • Dedicated servers.
  • Cosmetic unlocks, such as sword and character skins. You can also change the color of your skin, helmet etc.

Basically read this excellent guide for more indepth description of the mechanics.

My personal impressions (to keep the OP clean): I've been following this game for a while. It was originally a successful kickstarter which I had missed, and they opened the preorders yesterday.
So far the game feels fantastic, and strangely relaxing. Unlike say, Chivalry where it's easy to get frustrated because it often feels like your deaths are somewhat bullshit and the game doesn't fully cooperate with you, here the controls are extremely tight and there's nothing really random or luck based. If you lose, your opponent was simply better.

The environments help with that as they all feel pretty serene, and they look great.

I don't have a ton of experience with the characters or sword types so I can't really comment on the balance, but there's a really good amount of variety in it.
Also, in terms of beta I haven't really noticed any bugs. The only real way to see it's beta is because some features are missing, like the fourth character and the training mode.

It's really fun, try it goons!

If there's enough interest I guess we could create a steamgroup or something.
