Background A bad thing I went for a checkup and found out my BP was 200/120. Not really surprising existing on bad food and bad habits being primary care for my disabled wife meant I was indoors 99% of every day, 14 years of stress and reactive depression food being a comfort. After the holidays I was hitting 295 pounds even with a height of 6ft2" not good at all. Realizing my BP was 200/120 and the very real possibility that I could die from a heart attack, stroke or organ damage at 42 was a wake up call. A good thing Well being the kind of person I am this was my rock bottom the point where the only way was up so I made some changes. Went to the doctor and got on some medication Ramipril 5mg and put myself on a healthy diet. Main food has become salmon, chicken breast and tuna, for breakfast I eat an apple or pear started eating whole meal brown bread and whole wheat pasta plus brown rice. Vegetables which bulk up most of my meals have become carrots sweet corn spinach and green beans. Crisps and sweets have been replaced by fruit unsalted nuts specifically pistachio almonds and hazel nuts in small amounts. I now walk my dog three times a day which works out at about an hours worth of exercise. One of the things that amazed me was realizing after calorie counting for a day that without going hungry and enjoying food more I have cut my intake to 2000 calories from an estimated 4500. Also reduced my salt intake a lot. For the first time in many years my weight is going down. 25/02/2013 BP 170/100 25/02/2013 Weight 265 4/3/13 BP 159/100 4/3/13 Weight 262 18/4/13 BP 135/85 18/4/13 Weight 242 New Toxx completed Walk 150 miles by 20/5/13 actually finished 27/04/13 ![]() Toxx completed Walk at least 85 miles total in the month of April 18/04/13 ![]() 25/02/2013 Toxx Walk 4 Miles in a day. Toxx completed 28/3/13 actual distance 5.56 miles. ![]() Personal Plan Get my BP down to 120/80 or less. Do a kinect sports boxing match without feeling like I am dying. Increase fitness to the point I can use all the kinect games I have without feeling like I ran a marathon. Reduce my Weight to 220 this year which will take my BMI to 28.2 Apart from my current health situation the reason walking is best for me at least in the short term is I have asthma and a long with the weight loss and fitness hope it will improve. Picture taken before holidays with our dog Wrex. ![]() Looking back at this post I had no idea that I could go this far, I now walk 7-8 times a day each one at least .7 of a mile a future goal is going to be walking the pottery half marathon. calranthe fucked around with this message at Apr 27, 2013 around 16:12 |

Having lost some weight already I can definitely tell the difference I did my normal walk this morning with the dog, a lap of the field then streets and back to the field according to the app I did .72 miles and 1430 steps in 15 minutes. Decided to visit town walked there and back took me about 30 minutes for a total of 1.8 miles town is at the top of a hill had to stop once on the hill and legs felt like jelly when I got home. Food for the day Breakfast two Pears 90 Lunch Chicken breast 200 Sweet corn green beans and carrots 300 Light mayo 30 Snack Pear 45 Dinner Vegetables 300 Salmon 130 light mayo 30 Whole meal bread two slices 200 Snack Small amount of Sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and golden linseeds 50 If I am reading that right today I ate less than 1400 calories all was checked and measured on a digital scale. It is only 8PM I may have another pear or apple before my last walk of the dog tonight. My concerns Going from stuffing my mouth with huge amounts of junk food and heavy pasta or potato meals usually with 4-6 rounds of white bread not forgetting the 3-5 table spoons of Mayo on most meals is it okay that the above example is filling me and actually sometimes I feel like I ate too much ? I am thinking that because what I am eating is non processed real food and fruit that is why it is filling me but would just like someone else opinion. My exercise is very low impact and strain as in walking should I be having a rest day or just keep going I have noticed my legs aching at night when going to bed. Will change some of my food types to increase protein amount per day, final distance walked today 2.37 miles. calranthe fucked around with this message at Mar 17, 2013 around 14:21 |

A lot of pain in my legs this morning but that was to be expected, today I will do my basics and let my legs recover. To reach my goal of five miles in a day I am going to slowly increase each of the three walks to 1.25 miles and add one more. Once my weight is down to a level it is no longer detrimental to my asthma or BP then goals that include jogging and weight training look possible. Exercise Three walks total 2.17 miles. Food 1747 222 Carbs 52 Fat 80 Protein according to myfitnesspal. I still need to get a handle on balancing the specifics. calranthe fucked around with this message at Feb 26, 2013 around 21:01 |

Decided to edit my first post clean it up a little and add a before picture, family is visiting today usually I would eat take out with them but preferring the food I make myself now. Walks 2.30 miles. Food 1530 calories still low on the protein 102 but getting a better idea of how to work it all out. Hate being in a holding pattern waiting on medication to kick in. calranthe fucked around with this message at Feb 27, 2013 around 22:49 |

Today is going to be my high protein day, Have a none salt pork joint cooking in the oven will split it between two meals should give me about 170g protein. High blood pressure seems to have given me a weird almost drunk feeling which seems to be settling down now but resulted in the following. In the last eight weeks I signed up for 12 different MMO games and reinstalled 70 single player games on my system I was jumping from game to game almost ADHD getting super focused on a game for 20 minutes and then on to another. With the exercise diet and medication everything seems to have settled down which has made my wife quite a lot happier seen as trying to follow me on different games or getting me to watch more than 20 minutes of a film was pissing her off. EVE as my main MMO stays TSW and PoE also stay STO CO EQ EQ2 and all the rest got canceled and uninstalled. Reduced single and co op games down to 15 plus one on pre order Bioshock Infinite. A lot of the logs in this section give me ideas for future goals some really amazing people. Food 1531 calories and 150 protein. 2.86 Miles walked today. calranthe fucked around with this message at Feb 28, 2013 around 23:02 |

Hey, seems like we've got kind of a similar starting weight, altough my blood pressure never went that high before I decided to cut down on all that sugary and greasy food. Really hoping you reach your goals and get fit, especially because you've seemingly reached a dangerous high cliff with your blood pressure.

It looks like all the good stuff is working I feel a lot better still hard to get my head around the idea that I have reduced my calorie intake so much but still feeling full just shows how much junk food I was eating. It also helps being on here.

Curved posted:Keep it up! That drastic of a diet switch will definitely feel weird at first, especially with lots of fiber and quality foods. Thank you, two events happened yesterday the first was I realized that only 1200 calories had been consumed at 11PM at night so I did myself a nice chicken breast on wholemeal bread which brought it up to 1700 my minimum and I had walked 4.7 miles without knowing, needed some cash out of an ATM and all the local ones were empty so I just kept walking. I have so much more energy and yes it does still feel weird about food I am eating well not feeling hungry and loosing weight feeling all kinds of good. Calories for yesterday 1700 with 97 protein. Walking distance 3.7 miles. Looks like most of the symptoms that were making me think I had diabetes and dying were either high blood pressure or really bad eating habit. calranthe fucked around with this message at Mar 17, 2013 around 14:22 |

Congrats on getting into a new routine, and way to have a dog to keep you honest about it. It really does seem to make a difference, we have had snow for two days which caused me to change my routine never realized how much effort 4-6 inches of snow adds to walking, It may sound crazy but just the diet change and exercise has made me feel 10 years younger. Walked 2 miles yesterday, may not seem a lot but that was in snow and nasty winds five walks total, ate about 2200 calories and 170 protein a friend visited so we ordered take out. I still have to focus more on getting protein in to my diet I really can tell the difference when I have eaten enough. Today is looking like more of the same snow and cold.

Switched to a new app.

Thank you for the comments, those drat wii and kinect games are great in theory after all being a gamer I loved the idea before getting them home and realized how out of shape I was. Just waiting for my blood pressure to lower, slowly building up stamina via the walking and I really noticing a difference, no longer do I get tired bringing the shopping in, getting out of bed doesn't leave me out of breath. New application is Endomondo seems to be a lot more accurate, looks like yesterday breaking four miles was not a one off, 4:00PM and already at 3.75 Miles. Taking a break now to play some BioShock Infinite.

New toxx setup for April, I like the idea of having a distance amount to chew through looking at it 85 miles seems a lot but only works out at less than three miles a day, my goal is to reach 85 miles in three weeks which would mean every day doing more than 4.1 miles. Will see how it goes.

Walked 4.21 miles ate 2000 calories 130 protein. Tomorrow I will be cooking a treat for me and my wife, a Lobby, in the depression the local community would get together bring out a huge metal bath light a fire underneath it and lob (throw) anything they had spare potato, carrot, onion a piece of meat, everything would go in and once cooked everyone had a share. No real specific recipe for a modern lobby, I go with stewed steak, carrots, beans, potatoes and onion slow cooked in a 9 litre pot and then we just grab a bowl full when needed for the rest of the day.
