Much of the OP shamelessly stolen from KPrime's 4e recruit.![]() Laaaaadies aand gentlemen! It’s that time of year again- the start of the 4705 season is on us. Who’s ready for some carnage? I know I am! This year we have a loooot of up-and-coming rookies making their way into the big leagues, after the series of injuries and retirements that characterized last year’s season. The Imperial Diviners have assured us that none of that was the result of foul play, but simply the result of some really nasty new DJs showing their teeth in the Big Ring. Fan favorites RUN-NPC have disbanded and gone their separate ways- I hear they even let Jose back into his sport of choice! Of course, why you would leave X-Crawl for some hodunk sport in the middle of nowhere is beyond me, but he gave us five years of incredible crawling so let’s not be petty. In other news, a crackdown on illegal “backyard” crawls is gearing up after a 10 year old was seriously wounded by a loose strige... So it was said some time back. A great season followed by another. But years later and a bit of a downturn in X-Crawl viewership has led to some new ideas. Now each team is paired with a mascot. Many cute and cuddly, or designed to appeal to the male libido, mascots have been passed around. Perhaps you are the bottom of the barrel, or maybe you got lucky after all, for your Mascot is neither cute nor arousing for the young men in the audience. No your mascot is a horrendous undead monstrosity. Known simply as an Abomination, weakened before being granted to your team It, affectionately referred to as AB, will grow in power as you do. ---- Going to try and give a go at a 3.5 X-Crawl! For those of you not in the know there is a wonderful summary of what to expect in the following links, including an unfortunately abortive previous attempt at running it. XCrawl 1. Introduction 2. XTREME APPENDIX I’m taking approximately 5 characters, while you are fairly new entries to the Big Leagues, you may have had some experience in the minor leagues and you aren't entirely weak little nobodies. Choose a Sponsor. Feel free to choose whatever you like- just keep in mind your choice will affect the types of loot you get, the way your character is penalized if you mess up, and generally give me creative ways to make your lives more interesting. Fame All characters start with 10 Fame. When you do awesome things, I will give you fame points. When you are persistently boring or uninteresting for several straight scenes, I will take them away. Fame determines, basically, how well you are treated by your sponsors- characters with higher fame will be able to negotiate with their sponsors for better loot, get inside scoops on upcoming events, and generally get into swanky parties. Low fame characters will have to deal with Penalties- restrictions on your actions within the crawl to “liven things up.” At 10 Fame (not much) you will all start with an arbitrary Penalty assigned by your sponsor of choice, though not a bad one. You can choose to ignore your penalty at the price of angering your sponsors- but you might be able to mollify them if the action you violated it for was sufficiently awesome. Ignoring a restriction on jumping in order to flying hurricanrana a zombie, for example, would probably get you a pass and might even result in the Penalty being lifted. It’ll make things more interesting. Or get you killed. Signature Move Select one of your spells, special moves or other action that is worthy of a signature move, as your Signature Move. If you spend a Move or Standard Action grandstanding for the crowd before using it, you will get an arbitrary amount of Fame Points (but at least 1!) depending on how cool I think it was. If multiple characters use their Signature Moves together in a creative way, and, most importantly, give it some sort of ridiculous name, you will get even more Fame Points. Finally, be sure to post a Group Name. That’s the size and shape of things, Crawlers. Get to it! --- Character Generation: 32 point buy ECL 7 characters Max HP at first then 3/4 HD after. 19,000 gp Fast Feats: Feats at levels 1,2,4 & 6. In addition, you may take a bonus feat that fits in one of these types: Draconic, Heritage, Racial, Regional. You may instead take Aberrant/Least Dragonmark or Dragontouched. If there anything that would fit here that I forgot, ask and I'll probably allow it. Characters will be generated using the partial gestalt tier system. If you are a : Wizard, Cleric, Druid, Archivist, Artificer, Erudite, Sorcerer, Favored Soul, Psion, Wilder, Ardent (Tier 1) - no gestalt Beguiler, Dread Necromancer, Crusader, Bard, Swordsage, Binder, Duskblade, Factotum, Warblade, Psychic Warrior, Rogue, Barbarian, Warlock, Warmage, Scout, Ranger, Hexblade, Spellthief, Marshal, Shadowcaster, Dragonfire Adept, Dragon Shaman, Lurk, Incarnate, Totemist (Tier 2) - you can gestalt your levels with an NPC class of your choice (Magewright, Adept, Expert, Commoner, or Warrior) or Level Adjustment Fighter, Monk, Ninja, Healer, Swashbuckler, Soulknife, Soulborn, Samurai, Paladin, Knight, Expert, Aristocrat, Warrior, Commoner, Adept, Magewright (Tier 3) - you may gestalt with any other class in this category, or with Racial HD, or with Level adjustment Prestige classes always count as the first category (i.e. no gestalt). Racial HD that grant caster levels count the same as a sorcerer/psion (ie, no gestalt). If there is a class you want to play that isn't on this list, ask about it and I will decide which tier it goes in. All official books are potentially allowed, and if you want to use other stuff, especially Dragon magazine stuff, WotC web content and things non official books ask, and after some deliberation I MIGHT allow it. Most official things will probably be okay. Just don't be a jerk and make it unfun for everyone. As an aside things like teleportation and divination may be of limited use as the Fight Organizers often put protections in place to prevent simply bypassing any challenge. The point is to be exciting for the audience. - If you have anything to ask me, I'm usually around in #redhandofdoom on SynIRC. It may be a good idea to go in there both for working on your character, and for talking about the game if you get in. Ryuujin fucked around with this message at Feb 26, 2013 around 22:53 |

![]() Raxka, the Lady of Light Full sheet here: http://www.dndsheets.net/view.php?id=48962 Raxka is a wizard with a taste for fame. After placing decently in a contest to get on "American Showstar", she found herself from the shows contestants in favor of more traditional contestants. But her performance caught the eye of a Mark Halfheight, a halfling professional band manager, who made a suggestion to her. Run the Xcrawl circuit for a few years, using her magic, and any band she started, or even a solo career, would be a guaranteed hit... so long as she could perform well in the circuit. With a bit of haggling and backroom dealing, Mark managed to get Raxka a sponsorship deal with Kobold Baby Records, a mid-sized label known for indie artists of all kinds, and placement in an Xcrawl team. Now she just needs to survive the crawls long enough to get famous and start her real career. pre:Raxka Wizard 5 / Rainbow Servant 2 Neutral Good Strength 8 (-1) Dexterity 14 (+2) Constitution 12 (+0) Intelligence 19 (+4) Wisdom 10 (+0) Charisma 14 (+2) HP: 29 AC: 12 Fort - +2 Reflex - +3 Will - +7 Skills Appraise - 9 Concentration - 11 Craft - 9 Diplomacy - 8 Forgery - 8 Gather Information - 4 Knowledge: Arcana - 12 Knowledge: Dungeoneering - 10 Knowledge: Religion - 10 Listen - 5 Perform (Light Show) - 5 Profession (Entertainer) - 3 Feats Practiced Spellcaster Spell Focus: Evocation Silent Spell Split Ray Easy Metamagic (Split Ray) Arcane Thesis (Rainbow Beam) Able Learner (Human Racial) Class Special Abilities Scribe Scroll Summon Familiar Detect Evil (at-will) Extra Domain (Good) Equipment worth noting Amulet of Health (+2 Con) Belt of Hidden Pouches 10 potion Cure Light Wounds Metamagic Rod Silence, lesser 10 Scroll of Repair Light Damage Glamored Robes of Blinding Glory (magic robes with Glamored and Blinding traits from the DMG) a bunch of assorted other scrolls and potions Suggested Team Name: Illuminated Darkness FireSight fucked around with this message at Mar 6, 2013 around 01:36 |

After some talking with people in IRC, mostly FireSight, I am thinking of replacing the undead Abomination mascot with something more kid friendly. It would be more passive, would likely aid you a lot better, and would not be completely overshadowed by two of the submissions so far. Simply because it would not be a big dumb brute that is supposed to be strong and hard to hurt. If I do this I will need the group to come to a consensus on 3 Marshal Auras. 2 minor and 1 major. Each of you choose 2 from Minor Auras and 1 from Major Aura.

I say Motivate Dexterity and Force of Will for the minor aura. Motivate Dexterity gives bonuses to a lot of skills (if we ever get a rogue!) and also initiative boosts, and Force of Will because failing a will save is really really bad. For a major, I'd say Hardy Soldiers or Motivate Attack.

Sorry for those who were looking forward to 3.5 X-Crawl but the turnout wasn't what I had hoped for. That said the recent surge in Fantasy Craft recruits has given me some hope. So I will try the game in Fantasy Craft. You are of course more than welcome to submit the same character, as well as you can convert them, or another for the new recruit [Fantasy Craft] X-Crawl: Rising Heroes - Recruit and OOC
