quote:A teen beauty queen has resigned following allegations that she appeared in a pornographic video last year, according to Delaware Online. ![]() http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/..._n_2768478.html (drat it, I hosed up the thread title. Could a mod fix it?) Now here's something you don't see every day, a beauty pageant queen who grants the wish of millions across the nation! It's pretty clear from the video that it is her. If her looks alone aren't a dead giveaway she says in the video that she's into beauty pageants. On one hand I feel sad that she had to resort to doing porn for money and lost her crown as a result, the granting of which no doubt was a major event in her life, but I do kind of understand the decision of making her give it back. And I do believe they made her return the crown by letting her "turn it in". It is her private life and all but in the age of the internet it was inevitable that something like this would explode out into the news. The pageant committee probably thinks they would be sending the wrong image if they kept her as the queen. If it were up to me she wouldn't have to apologize or give up her crown over something like this. Time to flex those google muscles. The video is out there and it is over 30 minutes long. God bless America

Who actually cares if she did porn? It's probably less creepy than beauty pageants and she's a consenting adult.

An organization can give and take away awards whenever they want. Miss Delaware? Come on how is that even still a state?

Is having acted in porn really that big of a deal in the US? Over here we have a former hardcore porn actress who branched out into comedy and mainstream daily soaps. I've never heard anyone actually give a crap.

Not really, but when you compete in these bigger beauty pageants there are a lot of behaviors and actions that you agree not to do in exchange for competing. It's the same with pro athletes, some musicians, etc. Basically what you should take away from this is that Huff Po and TMZ and such are garbage and you really shouldn't read them for news.

And Christian. I assume it has something to do with making it okay for religious fundamentalists to ogle partially dressed women.

Why are they referring to it as amateur? When you're paid to bang on film and it has a post-production it's no longer in the realm of amateur.

Softcore and nude pictures aren't that big a deal unless you have to be squeaky clean in your public image (beauty queens, news casters, anyone targeted to the under 14s or Evangelicals.)

It's going to be an interesting coming-to-age for kids in 20 years. When they first sign up to Facebook (that's going to power every single sign on website in the world by then) they'll probably automatically receive suggestions to watch porn done by their moms

Beauty Pageants are all about the objectification of women as sex objects or objects of desire. It seems like it should be mandatory that they act in porn or are nude models for men's magazines. :edit:

The idea we're somehow just judging their human beauty and not their sexuality is what makes beauty pageants acceptable to middle america. Unfortunately, you can't disassociate the two and that's why people freak out over poo poo like this.

Aren't beauty pageants basically the american version of japanese pop idols or whatever they're called? It's all that stuff you said, but they're supposed to be completely pure/chaste. At least the japanese are honest about why they want them to project that image.

Only not mention the porn at all, and do it in the style of a traditional wholesome pageant. Crown the winner with a plastic tiara. Act mock-outraged when anybody mentions the 3600 adult films they've starred in.

Sasha Grey had broken into actual film acting pretty easily while if you're a teacher in the south you can get fired for having "semi-nude" pictures on your Facebook or being a homosexual, let alone having starred in porn when you were younger.

I don't personally care about this because I think beauty pageants are very creepy, and she's probably better off not being involved with them anyway. I actually think I would have a harder time not prejudging someone who does pageants than I would someone who does porn. In fact I met miss NH a couple years ago and she was in her full makeup, tiara, and sash and she kind of reminded me of David Bowie crossed with one of those Japanese uncanny valley robots. If I had had some porn to reference her from I might have been able to see her as a real person.
