Here I am with another Oly log. My story: I started out pretty fat a few years ago. I started losing weight through diet (bad diet, just starving myself) but I liked the result so I started lifting and eating actually properly. I found out I was pretty OK at lifting, and I really wanted to try Olympic lifting. I remember seeing it at the Olympics in 2000 (which incidentally was the first year that women were allowed to compete) and I thought maybe I could be good at it. But put it out of my mind cause I was a fat lazy. Fast forward to the beginning of 2012, I called up California Strength and asked them if they could teach me how to Snatch & Clean & Jerk. I started with Rob Blackwell as my coach. He's a good lifter in his own right - but also a very good coach, particularly for his age (He's only 22!) Since then, Olympic lifting has really taught me so many things. Primarily it's taught me persistence and humility and to keep going when things go bad - I've consistently been the crappiest lifter with the slowest progress in my gym for the past year, but I keep going, keep lifting and I know that I'll make it eventually. I had a big plateau in the last half of last year while I cut weight down 2 classes (A total of an extra 30lb). So in total I ended up losing 60lb, got strong, got confident, competed in Oly lifting and generally became a way more badass version of myself. Just recently I have turned a corner and all my hard work has paid off. I'm making decent progress and am looking to be competing in the 63kg class in April. My eventual goal is to compete in a National meet at some point. I am aiming for American Open at the end of the year, but I will just keep on going until such a time as I qualify. Olympic lifting progress is very non-linear so I just keep lifting and I'll get there eventually - I need to put 28kg onto my total, and I'm putting a kilo on every couple of weeks at the moment so I'd like to keep that trend up. Once I do that then I'm gonna attempt to get knocked up and take a hiatus from snatching and clean & jerking while gestating. I also have a side goal to get abs and look ripped - I always hated being the fatty and I really would love to come out on the other end looking super rad. I am slowly getting there and I will not jeopardize my lifting to get lean so this is a very slow process. I've been vetoed from going down a weight class so I really need to add muscles and get rid of fat at an equal rate. Current stats: Snatch: 50kg Clean & Jerk: 63kg Clean: 65kg Front Squat: 180lb Back Squat: 198lb Body weight: 64.5kg (really would like to get this down to a consistent 63kg cause the thought of cutting for a meet makes it way more nerve wracking for me.) I am going Toxxless for the time being - when I come up with a decent toxx I'll let the mods know. Many thanks to Norse Code for the thread title. Todays Workout PR DAY WOOP ![]() Regular oly warmup consisting of bar work: OHS, Snatch Balance, Snatches from hip with no hit, usually 5 of each as many times as I need to get warm ( I needed a lot today) Power snatch: Up to 48kg, no misses. 48kg is a PR there - I've PRed on that every week for 3 weeks which makes me happy. My pull is getting straighter. Power Clean & Jerk: Up to 50 kg. Power jerks were janky as. Power Clean: Up to 55kg with 3 misses at 60kg. Today was not my day for power cleans. Then 5 sets of 6 back squats at 65kg. This is part of my 6 day a week squat program to get my strength up. It's working but my body is jacked up now - particularly my knees which is from tight adductors and quads. Doesn't help that I'm suffering from some gnarly snotmonster sinus action either. I felt like I couldn't get enough air on these, they were a struggle. Coach is going to Arnolds this weekend so I'm on my own for the next few days. ![]() A magical snatch appears. ohh I forgot to add that all the NFL Combine boys were training at the other end of the gym today, with no shirts on, and my training partner and I were all SPLOOSH over them. We got major from Coach Rob. She also PRed her snatch which is about time cause the girl is way stronger than me and should be snatching a whole lot more. I also really want her abs - she's kind of amazing, for a CrossFitter.

Thursday Feb 28th 2013 I didn't know what I was supposed to be squatting today so I guessed. I got a text from my coach on the last set telling me I should have been doing singles not triples. And 4 sets not 6. So boo. - Front Squats up to 65kg - 6 triples at 65kg. (I think I did 145lb) - Snatch grip deadlifts - Triples up to 175lb, the barbell was super smooth and my hands were sweaty so I nixed these early. - 2x3 Military grip pullups, 1.5 Regular wide grip pullups (babby's first proper pullup yay!) - 2x Ab circuit (Situps x20, Russian Twists with 25lb plate x20, Pushup to elbows x20, Lying leg raises x20) - 20 mins of stretching, it's definitely my adductor that's pulling on my knee, I stretched it out and it's really happy now - 1/2hr in the sauna bopping to Justin Timberlake Feeling great now! I wish my appetite would come back.

Thanks guys! Also special thanks for GIFs hc <3 Todays Gnarly Squat Program Numbers: Squats up to 155lb - 4 sets of 6 there. Took ages to warm my knee up. I think I grunted. Pullups - 6 singles, one set of 2, proper wide overhand grip yay! Clean pull with a pause at each position - Singles up to 175lb Was being stared at cause my short shorts were the only workout clothes I had clean. Note to self: Buy some more workout pants. When you're lifting every day you need lots of gym clothes. So I'm going to Tahoe to be moral support for my friend who is getting married and who I am matron of honoring for this weekend. I am annoyed about it cause three whole days of doing wedding crap (someone else's wedding crap) is a really big ask. That and I won't be able to snowboard cause my knees are pretty hosed and I am not good enough to go on my own - all my other friends are really good and will leave me in the dust. If there is a novice person there I might go with her on the Saturday and bar off boring wedding poo poo. I will also miss my husband, this will be three weekends we've spent separately and I tire of being away from him. I know it's total first world problems but I am still going to whine like a giant baby over it. Also my knees hurt. Makes me feel old. An upshot is that I measured my thighs today and they're 1/2 inch bigger than last time I measured. So that solves the mystery of why I'm not losing any weight.

Thanks guys! Dunno about mesmerizing tho hc. So today i slept and hot tubbed and internetted a lot. A true rest day. Also I took an ice bath. i managed 7 minutes - i was aiming for 10. I have sat through almost 30 hours of tattooing and i swear that ice bath hurt worse than that. Worth it though cause my legs feel awesome now.
