![]() What is Hitman? Hitman is a series of Stealth/Action games developed by IO Interactive. The series follows the exploits of a man known only as 47, as he works as an assassin for the International Contract Agency, a.k.a. The Agency. The series is known for its multitude of ways to dispatch your targets, and the ability for 47 to disguise himself as nearly any other character in the mission. What's the deal with this LP? Due to the very open nature of the Hitman series, it is nearly impossible for one person to show off everything in the game. Therefore I have enlisted the aid of some friends and together we will attempt to show off the games of the series in multiple runs: The Blind Run: Captain Flame Guy has never played the Hitman games before, and will be showing how a first time player approaches the game. The Silent Assassin Run: I will attempt to obtain a Silent Assassin rating in every level and probably go insane long before we are finished. Why not start with the first game? While Hitman: Codename 47 was an innovative game, it was also a very terrible game. Hbomberguy and Clever Spambot did a fantastic LP of that horrible game. Hitman 2 is where the series began to show its true potential, as well as introducing the rating system, which graded players on their performance based on a number of factors (shots fired, enemies/civilians killed, alarms raised, etc.) What about thread participation and spoiler rules? If anyone has any methods of assassination they would like to see shown off, feel free to ask, or if you would like to make your own videos to show them off, please feel free. All I ask is that you do not show levels that have not been covered in the LP so far. Also, please use spoiler tags if you are discussing something that has not been covered yet! ![]() The Gontranno Sanctuary St. Petersburg Stakeout Kirov Park Meeting Tubeway Torpedo Invitation to a Party Tracking Hayamoto Hidden Valley ![]() Mission 1: Anathema Mission 2: St Petersburg Stakeout Mission 3: Kirov Park Meeting Mission 4: Tubeway Torpedo Mission 5: Invitation to a Party ![]() Mission 1: Anathema Mission 2: St. Petersburg Stakeout Mission 3: Kirov Park Meeting Mission 4: Tubeway Torpedo Mission 5: Invitation to a Party Mission 6: Tracking Hayamoto Mission 7: Hidden Valley Mission 8: At The Gates Bonus Stuff Stuff We Missed: Missions 1-5 Soundtrack Main Title Theme Waiting for Action Action Begins 47 Makes a Decision The Penthouse 47 in St. Petersburg Trouble in Russia Slow Ambiance Fast Ambiance H2 Exploration H2 Action Iron Chitlin fucked around with this message at May 17, 2013 around 21:41 |

I enjoyed the Silent run, but I felt the blind run had to many people commentating over it. Also introductions of the LPers would be nice. I have no idea who any of the people are.

Heh, good to hear some voices I recognize, mostly I'm just looking forward to the blind runs, can't wait to see if instant grat catches on some of the danish easter eggs that I told him about and some of them I possibly haven't. Heh. I do get the feeling though that the blind runs going to turn into the mass murder runs.

Planning? Patience? Minimal casualties? That ain't how 47 rolls. He'll cap every Russian he sees from subway to sewer. Shootin' his AK at any dude who happens to be standing in front of a window, he don't give no fucks.

Oh god, that awkward staredown between 47 and that Russian soldier on these stairs was priceless. I guess that when 47 doesn't know what to say, he pulls a Beretta? Also, I remember how climatic that sniping scene was when I played the game, with me just sitting there and wondering who to shoot. You just ran up to the window and magdumped in there. Magical Can't wait to see you handle the Japan levels.

How in Christ's name did you pull that off? I can't even kill the right guy in that level with the sniper rifle, every clue from Diana, and five reloads.

Well the blind run lacks a certain kind of finesse, but it is oddly effective. Well enjoy the new Silent Assassin run to see how the mission looks when it is done with a bit more subtlety. St. Petersburg Stakeout(now with 100% less bullshit)

Magnetic North posted:Chitlin, I just watched the two Silent Assassin runs. (incredibly minor spoiler) How did you strangle that guard without it counting towards Silent Assassin? He didn't fire a single bullet. IIRC, when going for Silent Assassin, you can either kill one non-target (but not an innocent, must be a guard or something along these lines), or fire a single shot and still qualify.

Magnetic North posted:Chitlin, I just watched the two Silent Assassin runs. (incredibly minor spoiler) How did you strangle that guard without it counting towards Silent Assassin? The rating system is a strange thing. Nearly everything that you do to affect the world will push your rating lower, however there is always some leeway before you hit the threshold for losing a Silent Assassin. Generally speaking killing one guard will not lower the rating, but you must also look at the ways in which a score will go down: ![]() Nearly all of these statistics will determine your rating, with the exception of Head Shots, Difficulty , and Saves. The threshold for a Silent Assassin rating will vary from mission to mission, but in general killing one guard is within safe parameters, so long as no one discovers the body, or no alarms are sounded(in case you were wondering, the guards finding the mafia don's body does not count as an alert, not entirely sure why). Killing an enemy hurts your score, but it also matters how you did it; a fiber wire kill will be less of a hit than a shot from a gun, in fact killing an enemy with a single head shot, will usually put you exactly on the edge of Silent Assassin and Professional. Killing civilians in most missions will really hurt your rating, but there are a few missions where you can get away with it, outside of those however, you will need to either avoid them entirely or hit them with a dose of anesthetic. I will detail the use of anesthetic at a later date. In short, you are able to get away with a little bit and still get the Silent Assassin, but exactly how much you are able to get away with is determined by the mission you are on. In general killing one guard and firing a single shot will still get you the rating, but anything beyond that(alerts, close calls) will lock you out of it.

GenHavoc posted:I vaguely remember getting silent assassin on this mission by going up into the cathedral and positioning myself such that I could shoot both men dead with the same bullet. Am I mis-remembering things? This is possible, though a bit fiddly. You have to get a sniper rifle up to the tower (which is difficult since you can't conceal those) and then wait for the one exact moment when both targets' heads line up with the angle you're shooting from. IIRC they briefly hug eachother at the start of the meeting. If you do all that, and manage to actually line up the shot with 47's surprisingly unstable aim, you can kill them both with one shot. In fact, you should be able to get Silent Assassin that way since it's just one shot, if you can avoid killing anyone else. Maybe.
