I was actually kinda relieved they cut Torstein's arm off. I'm rooting for that guy pretty hard and I was scared he was gonna die from the infection after they set up the whole two women/two babies scenario to make it more sad. VVV poo poo I forgot about that shot. Wafflecopper fucked around with this message at 10:11 on Feb 27, 2015 |

Yeah I really enjoy listening to the different languages, they've done a great job of portraying the language barrier and how people slowly start breaking it down.

Pinky Artichoke posted:I thought he was taking out his sense of betrayal over Judith getting knocked up by (presumably) a Viking. It could be both. Also Ragnar basically told him to gently caress off when he tried to be friends with him. Rollo said something nice when he tried the same but obviously didn't mean it and Floki just straight up glared at him til he left. I think Ecbert had some idea of what might happen, he found his son pretty pissed off and being the wily motherfucker he is was probably able to suss out what happened. He knew his daughter-in-law and Athelstan were getting friendly after all. Doesn't take that much to piece it together. Wafflecopper fucked around with this message at 06:41 on Mar 22, 2015 |

Unzip and Attack posted:Yeah that's it. Having a problem with two episodes out of 3 seasons means the show is an irredeemable piece of poo poo! Well, Unzip and Attack posted:What the gently caress...this show went downhill fast. does kind of imply having a problem with more than two episodes, you have to admit. Also, I'll give you that it's maybe a bit questionable, but it wasn't just the heads. It was seeing their friends across the river get slaughtered in a very one-sided fight against a savage and fearless enemy and then the heads on top of that, making a very clear message to not expect any mercy. It would scare the poo poo out of me. I'd probably be questioning whether I really wanted to die for the guy who thought splitting the forces across the river was a good idea too. Pinky Artichoke posted:what is now protecting his position? His marriage to the Princess. He may have killed the fighting force that got him the marriage in the first place but his new title comes with new retainers and an alliance with the Emperor. The Emperor is weak and already has many disloyal vassals. If he turns around and kills his new son-in-law he's violating the laws of the land and making himself look very untrustworthy. I'm not sure who'd be next in line for Normandy if Rollo were killed but if it's someone disloyal then he'd also be losing out on having someone loyal in control of the area.

Volkerball posted:Either way we would've gotten the sweet Erlendur vs Bjorn boss fight they've been hyping up forever. I didn't get the impression they were hyping it up. Certainly not as a boss battle. Erlendur was always trying to take Bjorn out through sending others to do it or using them to distract him, because he knew that in a straight fight, Bjorn would destroy him without breaking a sweat. An ignominious end like that is much more appropriate for him. I quite enjoyed that episode. The double ceremony montage was awesome, Ecbert getting realpolitik with Aella was as gently caress, Bjorn smugging as Erlendur lay dying in the mud owned too. Lime Tonics posted:question is, does ragnar die this season? I'd be very surprised if he doesn't die in the last episode or two of this season. This season they've had him hit Aslaug, become a an unstable drug addict, murder Yidu, and abandon his family. In other words, go out of their way to make him less sympathetic to the audience. We've also just had a twelve-year time skip so that his sons are conveniently just about old enough to lead the Great Heathen Army to Britain to avenge his death, and those of the settlers they've just found out were massacred. I'm guessing the second half of this season will focus on Ragnar's final expedition to Britain and set up for him to pass the torch to his sons for the next (possibly final) season.

Dalael posted:Vikings - The evolution of Ragnar Lodbrok I've been doing a rewatch lately, it's been really fun and interesting seeing young, ambitious Ragnar again knowing how much he changes. But what took me by surprise was young Bjorn, I forgot how outspoken and impulsive he is and how he wears his heart on his sleeve. It really contrasts with adult Bjorn who is a man of few words and holds his cards very close to his chest.
