Okay, I'm in the postgame of Disgaea 3. I'm to the point where my choices are to go fight Baal or go do stupid poo poo like reverse pirating and command attacks. Should I just move to Disgaea 4, or do alternate modes? Is there as much postgame stuff to do in 4 that hopefully is more enjoyable? There's quite a few things in the D4 endgame, but after a certain point (facing a lv 3000 boss) you have to do hours of luck based save scum nonsense to unlock the Land of Carnage and start the second half. It's lame as heck. If you have a PS3, I'd look at Disgaea D2 instead. It has a pretty big endgame, especially when you factor in Rasetsu mode, a new paradigm where almost all the caps are broken, stats go into the trillions, and Baal is even Baalier. Plus LoC mode (it's just a switch in DD2) lets you passively steal stats all the time while fighting. Plus items go to Level 300 (999 under Rasetsu). DD2. It's just the best.

I don't have a PS3. I want to get my hands on one but I haven't been able to. For some reason I like playing games like Disgaea on the go, which is why I've managed to put so much time into 3.

I've played through Disgaea 1 and ZHP. ZHP is really good. 2's got some really hosed scaling on the Vita, unfortunately, which sucks because it has weird lag on the PSP-1000. Disgaea D2's cheat shop level control and xp/hl/mana controls got into Disgaea 4 and it's wonderful

The LoC in Disgaea 3 seems to be really tedious and annoying to get to, too. Reverse Pirating is also very, very janky and annoying. Can I subdue someone in RP just by running over and killing them without toting them all the way back in 3 turns?

Don't forget that there are actually three full sets of Flonzor X parts, they drop in the same places/ways, and only one of them will get you into the LOC. The game does not really communicate this. It's really super bad and all.

At least in DD2, you get double the effectiveness/count (Statistician 40 instead of Stat. 20 or what have you) for bringing them on board ship instead of killing them. I am not sure if D3 has that rule, but it might be something to consider.

You do, but you get none at all for not being able to get to them at all. I'd rather have weaker ones than no ones, and it's not hard to farm them once I can do this.

You can kill a statician and it'll be level 2 when you finish, but if it's on the ship and you clear the board/run out of turns it'll be 34 or so.

The GameFAQs page and the DoubleJump strategy guide that's on Google Books for some reason both say it just halves it when you kill 'em My problem's getting a full string of dudes across the map who can all survive a turn out, or managing to even get my hands on an NPC. I'm underlevelled to be raiding in the higher level things I have access to, but I don't know if it's worth going lower. I've already stopped even trying on a Level 9999 item I have.

I didn't bother savescumming for any of it, since getting a wrong part increases the chance of getting the right one next time. Didn't take long at all. Even diving to floor 90 of a legendary item to find the Meowkin Pirates wasn't bad because it was an item I wanted to dive anyways. Did I just get lucky? Either you were profoundly lucky or I was the opposite, it took me like 60 tries to get even one of them. Then I ran through floors 90-100 of a couple different items about 10 times, never found the Meowkins. Then I set D4V down and have never completed it. I like the story and extra campaigns and all, but for deep endgame, DD2 is just miles better.

The Innocent's actual level is unrelated to the level you encounter them in the Item World, and yeah, equipment boosters and the like come in at very low levels. Item duping is the easiest way to dramatically increase their levels.

Monster characters have a "catch/receive" ability where if you throw something at them, they will 'bounce' the thing you threw in whatever direction they're facing. This 'bounce' doesn't count as an action, doesn't use up their turn - and doesn't prevent you from "cancelling" their movement and sending them back to base. Create a half-dozen or so mothmen and give them all 3 pairs of shoes. Send one humanoid out next to the guy you want to cap, pick 'em up, then bring out your mothmen. The 'bounce' will always travel the full range of their throw if it can, or less if it'd go off the edge or hit an enemy, so just arrange them in a path back to the ship. Throw, watch the fun, then cancel your mothmen back to base and do it again...

You are now my dear friend, for I was too stupid to think of this. Right now I'm duping a set of Accelerators with 2 move, a decent Mentor, and a low level Statistician. I managed to pull off the stolen magichange item bug, but it didn't work out. I somehow got it set back to 0. I think I might've put it in the warehouse and that reset it? Edit: Having them in any state except equipped resets 'em if you leave them in there between missions or something Any Magichange weapon you steal probably has a rarity of 0 and if you don't care about getting innocents for some reason, you can probably go to floor 100 in the item world in it. maybe transfer innocents in w/ Mediators or the ones that boost other innocents? this kind of stupid stuff is why i still play these games Doctor Goat fucked around with this message at 02:07 on Dec 18, 2014 |

Last night I bought Disgaea D2 from the PSN and holy poo poo I am enjoying this game way more than I expected. I was expecting a low-budget entry but this actually feels really really well polished so far. There are tons of great little things all over the place, and very few changes I dislike, and I love all of the music so far. I'm never gonna get tired of having a dedicated button for somersaulting around the Overlord's Castle and having a double jump. Does stealing Magichanging weapons still work in the Vita version? How does it work, just PPS usage?

Get it from Puppy Paw and make sure it's equipped as much as possible. If the game notices it's in the item bag/warehouse, it'll set all its stats to 0. It's okay to equip it to other people, just don't leave it out.
