No, I'm not going to explain that thread title. But I'll post the link here so it's more clickable. Anyways, look at that, the CD Swap has turned 16! The CD Swap isn't one of those spoiled brats on that show that I'm dating this thread horribly by even mentioning. No, all the CD Swap thread wants for it's Sweet 16 is for you to actually send your CDs if you sign up and review if you say you're going to review. As per usual, I'm not a mod and I can't actually enforce this but won't you make a thread happy on it's 16th birthday...or whatever. I kind of lost where I was going with this metaphor. Just don't make me make this a toxxable thread because no one wants that. I just don't like it when things like this happen. Anyways, newcomers might be wondering what they hell I'm going on about and what the hell this thread is. The purpose of this thread is simple enough: you make mix CDs, send them out to some stranger who in return sends you a mix full of some of the most amazing and/or horrible music you've ever heard. It's a great way to discover new music and be told that some of your favorite bands suck (oh Stolen Babies, one day someone I send my mixes to will like you). It's music for the price of a blank CD, an envelope and shipping. How can you go wrong with that? SIGNUPS ARE OVER Listed are usernames, what page their post is on and what country they are from. It is preferred that you try and put lesser known artists or lesser known songs by well known artists but there's also not a thing in the world that can happen to you don't. Still, keep in mind that part of the point of this is to get your musical horizons expanded. Also, you can send file CDs, or memory stick or whatever if you want BUT you need to have at least one audio CD as well. I will say that getting a CD full of sound files just isn't the same as getting a finely crafted mix though. Try and make sure you're mix is mostly listenable to the average person. I'm not saying you can't put some horrible anime themes or unlistenable noise metal on your CD if you really want, but try and balance it out a bit. Still, as I said, if you ignore this, there's not a drat thing anyone can do about it. You can send someone as many mixes as you want, but just expect one CD in return. That's all that's required. Don't feel mad because you sent someone five mixes and you only got one back. Also people tend to send the same mixes to all their partners. Don't get mad because you didn't get your own special unique snowflake mix. Nice CD art is encouraged but not required. All you need to provide is a CD and track listing (and for the love of god make sure it's readable). After that, it's all up to you. Just to reiterate, I added the review option so people who write reviews of the CDs get reviews back. Please, only opt for the review option if you are sure you're willing to write one. It's only fair. You can also post about your own mixes when you send them out, but try to wait for your partner to get them first. In general try not to post about what you're putting in your mixes until they've gone out. It's always better if it's a surprise. On that note, don't request people send you/avoid sending you a particular genre of music. The point of this is to expand you're musical horizons. You might think you hate all metal/rap/country/polka/tuvan throat singing but maybe in some mix someone will send you a song that changes everything. Even if that doesn't happen, don't post about what music you'd like/wouldn't like to receive because we just don't care. If you need good burning software, I recommend CDBurner XP. It's free and works better than almost anything else I've seen. I think that covers everything. If I left anything out, just tell me and I'll update the OP. I was born ready. lovelyhorse at gmx net Germany 2 International - yes. Obviously. Will review but will take my sweet time with it, if the last thread is any indication. But I try. Yes. Small request: for international shipping I would like to keep it within Europe if at all possible (naturally only if enough Europeans sign up so it isn't a foregone conclusion), just because sending my mixes to the US took like 5-6 weeks last time and was a bit nerve wracking. But that said if you ignore this and pair me up with someone from the US or the Antarctica research station, I'll happily comply.  (Actually whoever takes part in this and is actually in the Antarctica research station is probably really lucky shipping times-wise, because I imagine you guys drat sure receive your supplies on time.)

Hey just one thing: When the swap bot emails everyone, could it put the addresses in the BCC field instead of the TO field? People on SA should be fine I know, but it's generally bad practice to share everyone's email with everyone else. Also, is it possible to unsubscribe from the swap bot or are we trapped in its grasp forever?
