So So guys I went on to the local gun shop on a whim (while on a trip to the best local alcohol shop) and I asked if they had they had Single Six in stock. They did not. They had some really awesome Basque-spelled Spanish pistol I touched for a while but I wasn't confident the firing pin worked and it was $200 for a gun from ~1910. Anyway I looked up and saw they had a H&K MP5 in .22LR for $650. I remember hearing something about "the wait for handguns is still over 5 weeks but longguns are out the door in minutes," I blacked out, and woke up in my car in front of the liquor store with my wallet in pain. ![]() WELCOME TO MY BAD BROWN BED BOX ![]() OH DON'T MIND IF I DO ![]() Comparison next to an airsoft recreation. CAN YOU EVEN TELL THE DIFFERENCE? ![]() The rest of the stuff in the box ![]() Danke, Herr 19! April 6th is a "come shoot poo poo at my farm" day with my friend and at this point, I'm bringing a loving armory of guns. I can't wait. Hey everyone stop being mean to me for my poor choice

Although to be fair aren't the newer H&K branded GSG MP5s like this supposed to be less lovely than the older ones?

Looks pretty sweet. Glad you didn't end up waiting for two handguns to clear. Weren't you at the NRA range sometime last year with a couple other goons? We should do that again sometime.

Basticle posted:I've been wanting one of these only with the normal handguards and faux supressor for a while now Honestly I'd missed that. Even so Walther and Umarex are way in bed with each other, so i'm uncertain who is making what over there. I'm reading that Walther (whatever that means in this context) supposedly made the licensed Colt M4 and M16 .22LR knockoffs that Umarex was selling a few years back, and seeing more than a few people who aren't exactly fans of those, either. Either way, making GBS threads on a box thread is poor form so I'll just shut up about it now. I sincerely hope it's a well made, quality firearm at a good price that will give years of retardedly fun plinking. I would be very interested in seeing the take down and how it all goes together on the inside.

You are a braver man then I Saint Darwin. I can never own something like that because all it does is make the desire for the real thing build and build. If I owned something like that it would force me to move to Oregon and sell a kidney or two to fund an actual full auto Mp5

Is it possible to chop that fake suppressor off and put on a real one assuming of course your tax stamp is paid or is it built in such a way as to be a huge pain in the rear end/impossible? Because a suppressed .22 MP5 semi-auto might sooth my aching loins for a real one. Or perhaps make it worse. I don't know. Mmmm pipe dreams.

Totally TWISTED posted:Is it possible to chop that fake suppressor off and put on a real one assuming of course your tax stamp is paid or is it built in such a way as to be a huge pain in the rear end/impossible? Probably not. It's one solid piece of metal from what I can tell. Part of the reason I didn't hesitate is because it's not GSG/ATI in any way as far as I can tell. Of course there may have been wacky licensing and distribution Schelling happening but I can't tell, it's very solid and doesn't feel cheap at all. I'm getting itchy to try it and I might, might see if I can sneak to the range. Saint Darwin fucked around with this message at Mar 16, 2013 around 01:48 |

I dont know about the MP5 SD one but the A5 model can be as the faux supressor acts as just a shroud over the legal-length barrel.

*sniiiiiif* Ahhhhh, that's a classic box thread right there. Haters gonna hate, but I still have an unnatural desire for a MP5. Sure it's a cheap, stamped steel, roller delayed, half-polymer design from 1960, but it's still badass. Picking one of these up is probably the closest I'll get to one. Follow up with a range report if you don't mind. Edit: what are the options if you want an actual/civvy clone of the MP5? DkHelmet fucked around with this message at Mar 16, 2013 around 15:31 |

OWLS! had a Sig Mosquito and, despite all the pot-metal and terrible DA, it was fun on a bun. And then he strapped a lovely Wal-Mart airsoft laser to it and it was even more ridiculous fun. Pot metal rimfires of poor decisions are awesome when you realize you give no fucks and bang them around at the range.

DkHelmet posted:Edit: what are the options if you want an actual/civvy clone of the MP5? If you want an actual factory MP5, you're pretty much SOL. You either have to become an FFL/SOT and get a pre- or post-sample, or find one of the very few transferable factory MP5's that were imported pre-1968. If you're OK with an HK94 that was imported as a semi-auto but later converted to full-auto (and functionally identical to a factory MP5) then your options open up. All you need is $20k+. If you're OK with only semi-auto, but still want an actual HK, then you just need $4k+ for a semi-auto HK94. If you're OK with only semi-auto and don't care if it's an actual HK, then you just need $2k+ for an HK94 clone. The more German parts used in the construction, the more it'll cost you.

Used to be around $1200-$1400. The days of sub-$2000 Mp5 clones are probably over, at least for the next few years. Coharie Arms was the biggest and probably best maker, but they're still a small time shop and they're retooling for an HK416 clone. There's MKE, who are Turkish but they're HK-licensed and use HK tooling. I haven't heard anything bad about them. You've got Bobcat/SWS and a few other small makers like Bellator, but the quality is hit or miss. Avoid Vulcans. Vectors are stupid overpriced, even pre-panic. And you've got some straight blowback knockoffs like VR9s, avoid those. If you've got access to the right tools and have the skill, you could probably assemble one yourself- but it's not for the faint of heart.
