So Red Letter Media did a little mini Plinkett short for Into Darkness.

But they're also putting up the next Plinkett review to a vote. That should be pretty drat interesting.

I'm amazed he managed to work in virtually all of his running gags into the review, but made it work perfectly.

Oh well, have some Strange Wilderness with Film Brain's Happy Madison Month.

I'm impressed he's not going for the immediate choices like Zookeeper and Jack and Jill. I don't remember hearing about this movie in the first place. I'm sure he'll be doing some of the more well known Sandler disasters, but it was neat to see him choose something a little more obscure.

Film Brain is subjecting himself to a bunch of lovely Adam Sandler/Happy Madison flicks and he just got to Jack & Jill. Poor guy even had to suffer through Going Overboard which is so bad even Sandler doesn't credit it on his official website.

I actually liked his video. Red Letter Media took a step back from the film itself and looked at it more as a business expense or product; Film Brain dug into the nitty gritty of the movie itself. That shot he posted of the production crew having the football game on TV was really telling.

On the other hand, his dice video is somehow even more boring than his last video. I can't imagine many people want to hear a guy talk about dice for over an hour, or even twenty minutes. I guess he ran out of tabletop stories. :(

Actually, most of my gamer friends were blown away by the dice towers when I showed them.

And I agree with you on the Dark Tower game; that looks like a hell of a lot of fun.

I’m pleasantly surprised that the internet hive mind didn’t latch onto Sucker Punch (‘cause it’s about nerdy, sci-fi/fantasy genre stuff but it’s also, like, really dark and deconstrutioney and meta). It gives me hope knowing that people won’t give every lovely thing a pass because it’s self-aware.

Just from the reviews I've seen of the movie, it seems to pander so hard it becomes condescending.

Haven't seen it mentioned on here, but Spoony has started to put up his stuff from his interview with Richard Garriott. There's a section where you get a brief tour of all the different iterations of the Ultima games and it's freaking amazing to see the technology he has to work with at the start.

Garriott seems like a good sport, who knows what he's getting into. Angry Joe is there and there's a small Corporate Commander sketch, but it's actually pretty funny because Garriott is clearly trying not to crack up.

The videos aren't too long and it's actually quite interesting, so I would recommend checking it out if you're at all interested.

The main thing that pisses a lot of people off about Sandler is that he's a very talented actor and comedian and the stuff he does like Eight Crazy Nights, ect. comes off as a conscious choice brimming with nothing but disdain for the audience in how utterly mean spirited the final product is.

One of my big issues with his recent movies is that he constantly writes himself as a Mary Sue character. He's super rich, super successful, if he's married his wife is always gorgeous and if he's single, women are throwing themselves at him.

The end result always feels lazy and pandering, like he's hitting only the most necessary beats to release the movie.

So Doug reviewed Big Hero 6 for Disneycember and he thought it was all right, if fairly simplistic.

I think the simplicity worked for the movie in this case. It was definitely geared for a younger audience, so being able to predict the plot twists wasn't exactly rocket science. I grew to really like the characters and some of the little twists they had. He watched it and drew some comparisons to stuff like the Avengers, which I don't think is entirely fair. I do think this was made for a younger crowd the Avengers.
