As cool as it is that the west is getting formally localized Touhous in some capacity, I'm a little wary about them going to different publishers since there'll probably be discrepancies in how they handle translations and whatnot. Of course, you could say that's the essence of fanworks in general, but there's something to be said for having a consistency when it comes to commercial releases.

Going through different publishers probably get around some kind of legal loopholes. Or something. As long as the original creator gets their portion, I'm cool with it. I find it odd (yet really great) that the first Touhou games to be licensed(?) for outside of Japan are essentially fangames.

The great thing about fangames is the inclusion of all of the pc-98 crews and their guest appearances (touhoumon and fmw come to mind). I hope Zun ports all of the rumored Mima easter eggs from his new games when they transition to PS4, though.

So apparently another Chinese fan group wants to get in on the anime thing. (This is just the commercial) This one seems to be going for pure comedy: somewhat absurd and meme-filled. Uh... I guess it reminds me of Carnival Phantasm (although I've never actually watched that, just seen clips). While normally I'm not the biggest fan of these sorts of things, honestly it seems like a breath of fresh air after the previous one, which told a really pointless story while also adding overpowered OCs for literally no reason other than perhaps a general cultural fascination for Lu Bu. I saw a Reimu A DDC run that spammed focus/unfocus to deal what seemed like crazy high damage with the homing purification rod. Is this a legitimate tactic or were they just showing off?

I assume what's happening here is the player is keeping her rod onscreen while firing unfocused shots. You can do this with pretty much everyone but there's always an outlier that has it work better.
