Maybe there just needs to be an overarching category of "sandwiches and wraps". Basically it would include tacos, hotdogs, sandwiches, kolaches, etc.

I didn't know the Shenmue stuff ended up on Patreon. I thought you just did the first video and abandoned it. I've been meaning to sign up for months, but that finally pushed me over the edge.

Mario Party was a punishment. Especially on the N64 with the awful hard joysticks. I remember rotating it with the palm of my hand so much I caused the skin to blister. Also gently caress whoever thought the best thing to do at the end of the games was to add in Dumbledore "gently caress you Slytherine" points. Unless you have a commanding lead of 4+ stars you can lose at the end from that dickery. E: Also, good job on picking Luigi. Luigi master race. 10 minutes in and I can tell that Mario Party is the most painful thing since Yoshi's Island. The crying baby might be affecting my judgment. You two are brave and must endure.

Mario Party 1 was the meanest of the Mario Parties, which is actually great when you're a cynical adult and you want your friends to suffer, but bad when you're an innocent kid. Bonus stars and hidden blocks are the best, let nobody tell you otherwise.

It's also the only one where people lose coins for losing a minigame that's not free-for-all (and even then sometimes you lose coins in those).
|
# ? Nov 14, 2015 01:59 |

It also looks a lot more spiteful towards losing. I don't remember seeing "X Loses!" even in Mario Party 2 after a game ended.

Wrong way to play Mario Party: Care about anything happening Try to win If you can avoid those two things you'll be fine.

I don't know if they ever did this in a later Mario Party game because I pretty much dropped off after the first few Gamecube ones, but I always thought Mario Party would be better if there were like 15 possible bonus stars and then it randomly picked which three would be awarded at the end of a game so they are always completely out of nowhere and you have no way of aiming to get them. As it is they are the pretty much the least random thing about Mario Party and aside from the one for landing on green spaces you can actively try to get them, and the chances are you know who has got the minigame one and the coin one before the award ceremony even starts.

That's actually exactly what they did with the later Mario Party games, from between 6 to 8 I believe.

The way that I played Mario Party, and basically the correct way, was to just play the minigames with my friends and ignore the rest of the bullshit by using the minigame houses

I know it's silly but I actually enjoyed the single player mode in this game - having to bet coins on minigames as you pass along a large game board.

Simple as it was, I loved the Mini-Game Island in the first Mario Party, and I really wish that they hadn't removed it from the later entries (aside from 2, where it exists in a stripped down form).

I had Mario Party 2 when I was a kid, and was pretty fond of it. I recall liking the wild west board a lot. I also played Mario Party 4 at a friend's house a couple times. I was only able to identify which one just now by googling "Koopa Kabana"

Mario Party 2 is exactly why all my N64 controllers are broken. None of the joysticks work anymore and not just cuz every post-SNES controller is a piece of garbage time-bomb.

Gamecube controllers were pretty rugged, I dunno what you're talking about. Out of frustration, I spiked a Wavebird into the ground and it bounced down two floors, then it unpaused my game and I had to rush down to grab it.
