So I just saw 3.33 yesterday and have finished reading the old thread and a couple of pages into this one. A few things that may or may not have been addressed yet:

- I would really like to see Evangelion: Q (As per the review at the end of 2.22) at some point. It would clear up a lot of things in this movie.

- Wunder seems to be made out of a angel, not unlike the one from the beginning of 2.22, the cockpit looking like an EVA head that goes in where Tunniel's pseudo entry plug was. I guess it looks somewhat like a cross of that guy and the one Unit 2 fights first in the TV series.

- Rei's Eva that rescues Shinji that looks like Unit 00 and has pseudo shape shifting abilities that look like those of Zeruel after he ate Unit 00. :psyduck:

- Did the moon disappear? I am certain that you never get to see the moon, not the space sequence, not when they are stargazing. Shinji even has the gall to say it's reassuring to him that when he looks up everything is still the same. With the weird fixation NGE has with the moon, and the moon base in Rebuild you would think the moon would get a little bit more screen time than not at all. I suppose the destruction of the moon happened in Evangelion: Q.

- What was the deal with the white moon that had the same Impact-style bloody segments as the white moon in EoE? You see it in one shot with questionable perspective and it's spinning fast. Pretty sure it's not the THE moon. Was there another Impact during Evangelion: Q? It would explain why Mark 6 was double impaled in Dogma.

- Why did Kaworu die? It had been my understanding that Kaworu/Tabris was ridiculously powerful (possibly most powerful of the angels in the series?) and was only defeated because it was his wish. I would think his AT field could take a couple explosives to the neck. ... Did he give up just as he did in the series once he realized Gendo had played him?

- Why did he he have to put the collar on in the first place? It could have been resolved once he took it off Shinji's neck.

- I somehow did not expect the piano trailer to end up being so appropriate.

- Who can actually keep up with the different Eva units and their numbers? Mentioned once, not explained and barely getting any screentime

- People here in the thread seem to be getting rather mad at Shinji's actions at the end of 2.22, how he acted selfishly and carelessly and should have known better. Well, minutes earlier Mari almost turns herself into a rabid dog because she wants to win so badly, she sure as hell would have initiated Third Impact in order to win if she had had the option. No one gives her crap for intentionally sinking her pod into the contamination zone and turning her Eva into a monster no one knew about. Remember, it's not like the angel was not going to kill all humans anyway if Shinji hadn't tried to safe Rei.(I am aware that there are other and better reasons but I didn't see this one mentioned)

e:
- Wait, why does Kaworu go on about how he is good at stuff because of his knowledge? As far as I know he doesn't have the fruit of knowledge. Is that why he gets tricked?

So in short I loved it. Also here is my rather spoiler-free summary I whipped up of it:

If it's a good enough razor for Rei, Mari, Asuka and Unit 01, it's good enough for me.

Plus, I have no idea what you'd do inbetween fights. Maybe Persona 4 esque socializing/training stuff? With more despair, of course.

I've only played Persona 3 but I don't think you would really need to add more despair to make a NGE game. :crossarms:

He does not have 'the fruit of knowledge', I believe that he is actually incapable of that kind of scheming and betrayal which is why in 3.33 he is pretty much flabbergasted at the realization that Gendo (the kind of humans, i.e. the smart ones) lied about the spears and tricked him. At least that is one idea I had thinking about it.

Hey now, Re-Take had some nice moments that would fit right in with the kind of crassness you see in Rebuild. Shinji straight up killing Kaworu the moment he sets foot in the show? Ambushing the Eva Series with the positron rifle? It wouldn't have taken much of a different twist for Rebuild to end up like that. Plus the art is good. (There's a version without the disturbing porn parts out there I heard)

Let's get to the really hard hitting questions. Are Evas covered in phones or was Shinji just really lucky to be right next to the phone after the choreographed fight sequence?

So I've been rewatching the show and had no idea there were any Director's Cut episodes. I finally saw them for the first time and my mind is pretty blown now drat. Time for Episodes 25 and 26 now I guess.

I am currently showing someone the show and I'm dreading when these episodes come up. I can't decide whether to go for the Director's Cut episodes or not.
I don't have much of an opinion on which version of the lance throw I like better, they both have their ups and downs. Seeing Lilith's legs grow back is a plus. The extra footage of the expedition and I think there's a scene with Asuka and Kanji? Those are nice to have seen.
I guess my bigger problem is the Armisael fight. It's so different. It uses designs that are not part of the show (white Rei, Rei heads popping out of things). The entire thing with white Rei growing out of the angel is dumb. Actually I'm sure they used a shot from End of Eva in it when you see white Rei blink. Let's not even speak of the Angel Tower you can't even make out.
The DC of episode 24 has a scene where Kaworu talks to 15 SEELE monoliths. What's up with that?

Am I the only one who entertains the idea that the 0% sinc rate might have been a lie? Their goal is to keep him from piloting Eva again and telling him it wouldn't work sounds like a pretty good idea for that. He is able to pilot Eva 13(?) later on without much trouble.

Sync ratios are specific to the bond between a pilot and and a particular Eva, plus 13 has no soul, which makes the synchronization for that unit between pilot and pilot.

I'm not saying this doesn't make sense but I feel you're making a lot of assumptions about the mechanics of the weird rear end things we get a glimpse of in 3.33. Plus, how would they know his sync ratio with Eva 1 without putting him inside?

The characters say it suspiciously often - and the mess we see in 3.33 looks way worse than what Shinji caused at the end of 2.22. In fact I'm wondering if there's maybe a little more to this whole story...

I hope none of these teaser shots we've gotten so far will show up in the movie and it will be about something else, then again they put the idea of that possibility in our heads to start with with the teaser at the end of 2.22 so who knows at this point? It really could go either way and all I can do is hope it won't suck ev-

I thought it was weird to have the beeping flashing wrist things on the plug suits show up twice displaying two different messages that you can only make out if you pause and zoom in. The first turning out to be essentially meaningless and the second, which you can't tell the difference just watching the movie normally, telling you that the character is going to die.

These two points are clearly related. Misato's flashback demonstrates there were four giant, glowing beings at Second Impact. These beings were similar to, or the same thing as, Unit 01 at the climax of the film.

Ah remember when people tried to decipher their designs and figure out what it could mean... and then it turned out it was just an Ultraman reference and had no bearing on anything else in Rebuild
